Character Romance Discussion

+
I have never played a game with a well written character relationship.... they were all either trashy quickie type things, or overly dramatic soap operas bullshit type things...

The relationship development in the witcher games is pretty good.

I'm still not over what they have done with Shani in Witcher 2, but other than that, i do like Witcher romances.

I hope we can at least see her in Witcher 3 and she will remember the romance bit.

Heh, I am a Geralt-Triss shipper, so you'll get no sympathy from me :p But as far as I am aware, romance in TW3 is pretty open, and we might see some old flings. Don't take my understanding as the truth though, I might be wrong.

Regarding romance for CP2077, can anyone tell me how relationships or romance aspects manifest during CP 2020 PnP gameplay?

If Saskia relationship can turn to romance, it will be deep.
I can think nothing better than win the hard to get female heroine heart.

"Open"? Does that mean some Dragon Age Origins-style man-elf-loving? Does it? Huh?

NO. It' s a secret. Ask Wisdom, but don't believe his lies.

Romance in Cyberpunk 2020 is like having family members... it gives the GM a way to fuck you over or annoy you, or someone to kill to introduce a plot hook when the GM gets lazy...

Sardukhar: No, I meant open as in you're probably not going to be forced into choosing one leading lady. But who knows- the book fans make some pretty compelling arguments that Geralt, now that he has his memories back, will only want to be with a certain woman. Maybe the fans will be right.

Wisdom: that's interesting. Seems like the GM can just kill your love interest w/o any chance to save them, that must suck.

Here's my wish for romance in CP 2077: First a complaint- I haven't played a game besides TW games which made this aspect of the game any good. The point of the romance should be to tell a story, not to offer soft core porn or win points with a character by saying the right stuff, like in Mass Effect and Dragon Age games.

I hope the lives of characters have a meaningful impact because of having a relationship with player, but not just "oh the enemies hate so and so because they were seen with Player 1".

It would be interesting if the actions of the love interest are unrestrained, and the love interest lives a life of its own. Please don't make it like Skyrim where the wife/husband is a slave dummy trapped in your house like furniture, and only comes out under the sun when you will it.

In the same vein, the actions of the love interest should be able to impact the player, either positively or negatively.

Personally, I wouldn't mind if there are only 3-4 LIs for the entire game, what's more important is for them to have a story of their own, and be an active force in the game.

So in short, if there is romance in CP 2077, it should be about storytelling.

As a book fan, I'm far from sure Geralt would end up with Yennefer. They were very on-again, off-again. Deep, passionate love, blah blah but they fight A LOT. Plus, Geralt goes all over. And has a libido bigger than Poland.

Gotta say - depending on how long the game is, one or two love interest possibilities, ( other than Fast Fucks and Hot Kisses....err...whatever the actual LIfepath roll from PNP was. We renamed it. Anyway), is really the max you'd run across in a few days or weeks of crazy. Think about it: someone you really, really like and who really, really likes you and the opportunity arises to do something about it in the midst of whatever crazy plot is happening.

Yeah, one or two chances at serious romance would be fine.

The great thing about CDPR's take is in the way people have conflicting needs and whims. Circumstances get in the way. When Triss put me on the spot in TW2, trying to insert herself in my plans, I got skittish...she had helped me a lot, but I needed to catch Letho and why the hell is she talking about settling down now of all places? Oh yeah, we just made love and....

That's the aspect of romance Bioware totally ignores.

In Witcher I stayed true to Shani... Okay I checked the cards but loaded previous save after that :p But apparently something went wrong with Shani so I fracked around in Witcher 2. Okay just found out they had added journal entry for Shani in W2, though I missed it while playing W2 month ago.
Also I liked my relationship with Liara through Mass Effect maybe the Liara comic between ME and ME2 helped dunno.

It's like cheating on a girlfriend then going back in time XD

going back in time?.............

Not just for cheating... Think about it.. You can be a person who never makes mistakes.. Whenever you make a mistake, any mistake, go back in time and fix it... Perfect... :D

If going back in time is for story purpose like Chrono Trigger, I like it
But if we can go back in time as much as we like to undo what we had done, then that I not agree, One must have responsibility for one's actions.
This what make games look mature too.
