CHOOSING IMPLANTS LACK IMPACT

+
Hi,

I was disappointed by the lack of impact the decision of getting an implant currently has.

In the cyberpunk genre, getting implants is impactful because of the damage it supposedly do on your soul and body. You have to be careful getting tons of implants because, as it is said in the game, it might cause severe trauma and such.

Yet, for now, all you have to do to get a complete set of implants is getting to your closest Ripper Doc with enough money.

I was expecting at least, when choosing an implant, a few dialog lines with the Doc explaining to me what the implant would do specifically and how he would operate on me.
I was also expecting V to react to it when the implant was done, with a few lines of dialog telling me how he/she feels.
It would not be necesseray to put in animations (that would be a dream) but at least some dialog between the Doc and V, to give it way more weight.

Right now getting an implant is as quick as changing a weapon. Open the menu, choose what to buy, buy it, done. It has no impact at all.

For example I just got the Subdermal Armor. But I don't even know how it is supposed to work. Are they metal plates inserted underneath my skin ? Are they something else entirely ? I would love to get explanations within the game, with dialog lines, around those improvements.

I agree. For me one of the biggest disappointments yet is how little impact cybernetics have, and how there is no animations for their install beside the first visit to viktor.

I was expecting transhumanism, invasive back alley surgeries and having to actually adjust to the biggest modifications, not just slotting them in like a USB drive. It's also very disappointing how there is almost no visual impact on V, I expected full cyborgification if you go all in :/

100% agreed. I expected installing implants to be FAR more immersive experience akin to that first visit to Victor.
Im quite devastated that I can just slop spinal implants in like a band-aid. This is NOT immersive.

EDIT: but you should write to the suggestions forum

Yeah, sadly the cyber in the game is pretty lame. You just pop things in and out without a care. There's no real effect. Plus a lot of the cyber just seems downright useless. And you want to be buying the higher rarity stuff, which is just better, but there doesn't seem to be a way to get rid of your older cyber. So you're just stuck with this big list of items you'll never use.

I prefer how a game like Shadowrun does it, where you have an essence limit, and every piece of cyberware reduces it. So you're limited in how much you can add, and need to pick and choose the cyber that works for you, instead of just being a pocket knife of cyber gadgets.

You're right, I didn't notice the suggestion tab on the forum menu.

Any moderator kind enough to move my post over there ? :)

I agree, the cyberware overall has been very underwhelming. People all around are chromed up with rad implants- My only option is flesh-colour gorilla hands? I wanted to get an arm like Dex's or go full borg like Adam Smasher (or at the very least Adam Jensen.)

The variety, immersion and aesthetics of the cyberware are all very poor.

Subplot revolving around losing your humanity from getting too much implants would had fit the narrative really good as well. A real missed opportunity.

Agreed! I feel like the scene where we get our first implant was very immersive, maybe something of that sort of impact with a good bit of dialogue would be very immersive. Reduce the number of Ripperdocs if you have to! but do make it more impactful.

Yeah,

They give you all these "rpg" aspects, when you can literally beat the game on very hard easily without paying attention to any of it. Currently, the game does not offer enough difficulty for anything to really matter.

When I bought my first implant, I thought something was broken. Was excepting some dialog, cutscane but nope. I guess replacing your lungs is like buying coffee this days. Had to check the menu twice to realize its done.

That and the fact, that parts are just "randomly" scattered across night city.

Hey i'm THE RIPPERDOC that everyone who is rich goes to, here take a look at all my blue grade stuff i have.

Meanwhile random unnamed Ripperdoc in a sh*thole somewhere: "hey do you want the literal best cyberware, including military grade stuff you can find?"

Hmm,
This one makes sense though if you take into account that there's a lot of underhanded discreet black market dealings going on all around Night City, but yeah, the ripperdocs should at least have their inventory build up/change as you level up in game, maybe get some really really good tech from Viktor when you reach a certain level, even military grade stuff.

Or something anyways...

i went for all the mobile implants i can outrun cars and jump form building to building and destroy 30 enemies from one quick hack... all i want is access to more mobilty mods

NGL that already sounds a lot overkill. I Expect a lot of stuff to get tones down, and others to get tones up. Mobility is a kinda eh thing at this time. Kereznikov is just downright broken, and so is the double jump. Meanwhile there are weapon archetypes that are borderline unusable because they are so underpowered, and others (like smart SMG) melt bosses and psychos in a matter of seconds.

They cut the functions of not only the mantis blades but the gorilla arms and moonwire as well... Like you said no cutscenes of an operations or anything.. like if i add this to you, you will have 50% health for a day or you will be able to lift cars.. nothing..
