Huh, never really consciously thought of that, though I feel like I have done that before once or twice. Gonna have to use that more often here.@Lyfia
Here's a trick (from animation): flip the image. If you flip it you'll see all the things that are wrong or weird. There you can change them, modify, edit, re-draw... whatever it's needed. Then re-flip the image in the original position and you'll see the resulteace:
^This. Absolutely this. The exception I've seen to this are redheads. They can either have brown eyebrows or they can have almost blonde ones (and they usually darken them with makeup). @Валькирия Your Ciri looks great as she is. You could lighten them a little, but my recommendation would be to definitely don't go any lighter than the same shade of her hair.@Валькирия
As for you question, that's my suggestion: eyebrows color should never been the same of hair or lighter. Normally, you make it darker. For mainly two reasons:
-it's an optical effect helping to "frame" the eyes even more and make them look brighter
-in real world, people eyebrows are darker than the hair. Those people having eyebrows as blond\white as the hair, have a weird look, like they don't have eyebrows at all.
How dark you can make that color is your own choice.
Anyway, anatomy is a pain in the arse XD
I do that whenever I feel something is off.Huh, never really consciously thought of that, though I feel like I have done that before once or twice. Gonna have to use that more often here.
Manga, eh? I'm going to have some things to ping you about shortly. It's a technique I picked up from drawing manga, although I have to say that
it's less useful with realistic art where you have fewer clear lines.
In other news I'm between working on my project or drawing a Ciri fanart.
It's a tough decision to make~
Ironically she is part of the project aswell, so....Manga, eh? I'm going to have some things to ping you about shortly.
And there is a choice to make for you? You know it's all about the Ciri!![]()
First as in the one I labeled '1' or the first in the series of pictures? I'm sorry, I don't know why I keep labeling things backwards. @.@; My bad!I prefer the first picture better. I think it has something to do with the jawline, but as I am an ignorant primitive, I can't pinpoint it exactly.
Now something extra. What about the spacing of the eyes? I think it is just a little too narrow. Maybe I'm wrong. What do you guys think?
The piece is awesome, I can't wait to see the finished version.
Gah! You guys rock!As StaGiors said, the space between the eyes is a bit too narrow.
Move the left eye a bit to the left, the right one a bit to the right and you should be all set.
Don't worry, it's a lot of tweaking work but you're getting there !
Thank you!! That actually seems to help me quite a lot! You know, I've been trying to use another layer to display that t-shape when I want it and just hide the layer when I don't... But I've been using the same black lines when I do use the shape... The red sticks out more, I think I'm going to start using that instead. Here's a trick (from animation): flip the image. If you flip it you'll see all the things that are wrong or weird. There you can change them, modify, edit, re-draw... whatever it's needed. Then re-flip the image in the original position and you'll see the resulteace:
I've made some editing on your pic, hope it doesn't offend you.
Anyway, anatomy is a pain in the arse XD
Yeah, I'm beginning to think I may play around with this one more. I think the eyes/nose/mouth being adjusted to fit this jawline more could look good... We shall see....#3
Temples and cheeks shapes are more definited
Awwww ~*You people make me very happy!
Yeah, something about #1 feels a little more... I don't know, natural? The jaw/cheek looks a little fat but the way the eyes/nose/mouth fit into it, the angle of the whole face, maybe, looks understandable.... Maybe. x)Nah sorry my bad. "First" was the wrong word. I prefer version "number 1". Since the jawline is a little more round. I don't even know why that is a good thing, it's just more pleasing in the eye for me I guess.
That being said, if I keep looking at all of them for a while, I might change my mind. That's what happens when you have no idea what you're talking about.![]()
Thanks, I will keep things posting. I've been neglecting various chores to spend my sluggish time dabbling with it. If only I weren't so slow! I see some artists able to dish out amazing, colored pieces like it's child's play! Perhaps one day, far from now I will have that ability.Good luck with that! Keep us in touch please, we wanna see the progress![]()
Haha, you too! I mean, wait...Awwww ~*
You're always welcome here, my friend.
You.... you.... you turning me into one of the Ciri fans. How dare you! I

I really like the idea of a comic and the color scheme you've chosen is very stylish ~*it's a practice comic based on the books. still deciding on which stories-- likely the Sword of Destiny or one of the hardcore chapters in Tower of the Swallow![]()

Start out by selecting a story, draw a storyboard (with stick figures or something simple)
and once you've figured out what you want to show, you can put it into frames.
But most of all: have fun drawing !
@BirdTheBard
Oh, we're not turning you into a Ciri fan - you've always been one, you just began to realize it.
Come to the dark side ! We have coffee~*
