Ciri's horse race question

Hi,

I keep failing the quest where Ciri races the baron for the black mare because my horse starts cantering instead of galloping. Anyway, I would like to know if Ciri ever actually ends up with the mare? The quest gets interrupted, so, if Ciri wins, does she eventually receive the mare at a later time in the story?

It's kind of annoying that you can't save right before the race begins, if you want to try again. Instead, you have to go through the long cutscene with Ciri.

The Baron tells Ciri later that she can have everything from the castle that she wants and later when they say goodbye I believe the horse stands besides her, but it doesn't get featured later in the game though, so you shouldn't care to much about it. It is not like you will explore the complete world with that horse later on or have to do it on foot if you fail.
