Do you think we'll be able to have our V wear all clothing or will it be locked into gender?

For instance, can a feminine V wear a masculine suit or a masculine V wear a feminine dress?

I for one, hope it won't be locked.

I hope that it is possible to wear all the clothes.
If my male character can't wear that transparent coat that a girl was wearing in the trailer or sexy clothes like Mox, I'm out! :ROFLMAO:

For sure! Me too. My male character is gunna wear that transparent coat shirtless because he's THAT cool. Lol reminds me of Dennis from IASIP with the duster. (and he's also gunna wear gold short shorts)

I don't think game like cp2077 will restrict player's character from wearing all kinds of available clothes.
the thing I'm wonder about is what determinates what kind of clothing your V starts with, since cp2077's character editor may make player character's gender not obvious. is player choosing if they want to start with male or female version of the clothes? I think it may work like that, mayb some1 who played cp2077 on ncw may confirm. should I make a thread out of it...?

I hope that the "Budget Arms" T-Shirt is available to purchase in the Entropism style shop or at the Gun stores. I hope they do this with the other weapon brands also?

Well, given that male and female bodies are modeled differently and presumably move differently, too, (since, y’know, they do IRL) I would expect that this would require them to model and rig every single clothing item in the game twice. While they may have done this I kinda doubt it. Most similar RPGs that I can think of from the top of my head did not double their own workload that way but just had some sex-specific clothing instead.

On the flip side, having clothing not be able to be worn by either gender means that they would have to make twice as many in-game items and then either only drop the ones relevant for your body type or outright lock you out of putting them on. The two pairs of jeans in the screenshot above could easily be the same "Jeans (Common)" item in game, with two models to fit either body type.

I am more interested in the truly important questions like how they handle the scenario where you have a tight pair of jeans on the female "body type" like in the screenshot, but you chose to give your character male genetalia of the maximum size. Will there be a bulge?

Unlikely but if there was I imagine it would just be a deformation map.

And sure, having all the clothing items in the game be unisex would require the least amount of resources. I just spoke to the aspect of sex-specific clothing items being able to be worn by either sex. Like, I don’t know, a sportsbra or something. I doubt they will have made a separate model of that for male characters just on the off-chance that someone would want to wear that.

I would be surprised if that were the case for several reasons. First of all, if I understood it correct, you don't really choose a gender, meaning you just select a starting body that you can then alter, so you can have a female V with a male voice etc. If im not mistaken.

Also from the trailers, it seems like people are wearing a lot of crazy cloth, whether they are male or females. And last, they have mentioned several times that style in Night City is important. So it would be weird if there were a lot of restrictions. Also so many details have been put into character design, like teeth color etc. I also believe I heard, that you can change the style of a specific piece of clothing, if you like the stats but not the look. At least I hope that is the case, because to me, that was one of the biggest issues in the Witcher 3. Didn't really have a lot of issues with the game in general, this simply stood out as being the most annoying thing to me at least. As some of the clothing broke immersion for me, as it was very difficult to be a badass when wearing clowns pants :)

even the best procedurally generated clothing fittings look like garbage compared to hand crafted per character model. multiply this a hundred times when it's cross-gender.

my guess is they will have similar clothing patterns per each body type, but they won't be identical. in fact by virtue of anatomical and physiological differences, they'll probably look rather different, and may even have different patterns or styles all together.

Depends on how they modeled clothing on bodies. If it behaves like real clothing then yes, if they imply a body model to be worn under it (Bethesda style) then they either model every piece of clothing for both body types or there's gonna be limitations. I have no idea on how they handle these things, I guess wait and see. I'm playing V as a girl anyways for the first run so I'm pretty sure evry cool piece of clothing will be available (i mean THE jacket...my jacket :D ).

oh my god I know what you're talking about. I spent half the game going 'Hi! I'm Geralt the bard. May I sing you a song?'

I couldn't do that, If I recalled correctly, I think I used some gear that was much worse than it had to, I just couldn't connect with him not looking badass :D
