Co-Op Missions with Romance Partners

+
Hey guys, I know this might not happen anytime soon or maybe it’s already being considered somewhere in Project Orion — honestly, I’m not sure.

But I really feel like there should be an option to bring your romance partner along as a co-op companion. Imagine V and Panam or V and Judy going on missions and gigs together. I know that’s probably a huge amount of work development-wise, but it would make the relationships feel even more alive and immersive.

And if multiplayer co-op ever becomes possible, it would be incredible if another player could actually play as your romance partner during missions. That would genuinely be one of the coolest features imaginable.

It would really depend a lot on who your partner is.

For example, Judy isn't equipped for doing missions. She doesn't have combat cyberware, which is why she takes a back seat during Disasterpiece.

In addition, she has an actual job. She can't just go off doing missions all willy nilly when she has to work a proper job.

People like Panam and River are more combat ready. Though River has an actual job that he'd be maintaining.

Panam, being a Nomad, would be the type that has more flexibility in being able to dip out to do jobs. Though she will still have responsibilities around the camp (Similar to how Mitch and Scorpion refuse to help Panam and V during the Ghost Town mission due to having tasks to do in camp)

It'd really only be a Merc partner that would make sense to be able to freely go on missions with the player. Both being equipped for combat as well as having a schedule that permits it (As going on jobs would be their schedule).

Really, the best I could see as far as making sense, would be if certain missions could have you call up your partner (Or even just friends) to assist you in that mission. Where each character can provide a unique set of assistance during the mission. For example, using 2077's romance options, you could have Judy working her tech magic to manipulate systems and devices, Panam could provide her sniper support while River can help find clues to get information about targets and secret locations (Stashes and secret entrances).

You could even have it so that the missions themselves play out in different ways based on who you go to for assistance. Again, stuff like working with Judy to search through BD's, working with Panam and the Aldecado's in some fashion or going with River to do detective work.

It wouldn't be for every mission, just the occasional one. Perhaps different missions have different character availabilities based off when they take place (For example, some missions like Lighting Breaks or various missions that involve Lizzie's Bar occur at night. When someone like Judy is working)

That way you can integrate having characters the player has befriended/romanced involved without it seeming like that person doesn't have their own life anymore and can just hang out with the player 24/7.

Totally. Since Cyberpunk seems to be far more story-focused and emotionally in-depth, the romance partners honestly work better than GT@ in my opinion.

Even GT@ 6 looks like it’s leaning into that couple/partner dynamic with its Bonnie and Clyde-style setup between Lucia and Jason.

That’s why it’d be really interesting to see Cyberpunk expand on similar dynamics, especially since people are already emotionally attached to the IP and its characters. There’s already a strong foundation there. Having partner-based gigs or missions with the characters you romanced would add so much more immersion and emotional weight to the game. Multiplayer support for it would make it even cooler if they ever decided to go that route.

You can sort of already do that using mods like AMM. But it would take a tremendous amount of work as of right now your partner is just along for the ride to just stand there and look pretty.

And then it begs the question for what purpose do you have a partner? Not a single job or gig requires a partner to advance it. Not even in Act 1 where you actually had a partner, did that partner ever come with you on side gigs. Only in the actual gig which is fully scripted and cannot be altered.

So, I think very unlikely in the first game, maybe in the second. Who knows.

Most probably more SIDE MISSIONS with your ROMANCE PARTNERS. Would be a great start. I just felt like its becoming stale after the game has ended.
