New preview on Gamebanshee (on four pages). It's very nice to see such a positive preview on one of the best RPG sites. It contains some spoilers, but it's otherwise highly recommended.http://www.gamebanshee.com/previews/102772-the-witcher-2-assassins-of-kings.html

The biggest pc/videogame magazine of Finland, Pelit (Games), has a review of the game in their May edition. It will come out today (digital version was already online). It ended up on the cover, quite cool cover btw. The reviewer said it fulfilled all his hopes, but the game could have been a little longer. He said the game took somewhere between twenty to thirtyhours, but he skipped all the quests that felt like a sidequests. The 16 endings weren't that impressive though, and only had slight differences in details. It felt like the middle chapter of a trilogy, and the Witcher 3 is clearly in the minds of the studio. The beginning of the game was better than the enfing according to himGameplaywise he had nothing to complain, everything felt just right, combat was sharp. except Geralt might become little too powerful in the end. I'm not sure, but I guess he played with medium difficulty. He didn't play the final version, so there were some bugs. While shopping the transactions might not occur, and during fights Geralt accidentally drew his silver sword instead of steel one.He gave it 93 (which is pretty high for the magazine. They very, very rarely give above 95) "Sexist, humoristic, atmospheric, brutal game which redeems all the expectations I had about it. Excelllent fantasy journey, that keeps the dream of this year of being the best roleplaying year ever alive"(It's 5am and I read the review and wrote this with my phone, so it might be a little disoriented. Can post extra details on the afternoon/evening, if someone wants.)

Didya really mean "sexist" and not "sexy"? Because the former is not so positive an attribute...And why have all the reviewers have to spoil the end, before we even get to start? It's kinda discouraging, when you're about to set out on a journey you have to expect to end badly. :(Thanks anyway for the translation you did!

Yes, clearly says sexist. He means it's a good thing that in The Witcher world everyone, including sexes, aren't equal. I trust this particular reviewer more than their usual high profile western rpg guy, who gives way too high scores, especially to Bioware titles. (The one who did the W2 review said that DA2 doesn't deserve to be in the same shelve as the W2 :p)Well I don't think I can sleep tonight anymore, so here's a cool picture from the review:http://imageshack.us/m/20/2521/witchpelit.jpg

the ending(s) must not be that bad if they still gave it a rating above 90%...

Kind of worried about no place to stash things.

I seen most of the awesome and positive are coming from the preview copy. So basically Prologue and Act 1 is the best around 15hours while the rest are relative shorter in gameplay time. It was also mentioned the endings are like cliffhangers and clearly showing interest of another TW3 sequels and the 16 endings have not much variety.Ahh well i hope we can have more DLC soon or perhaps expansion announced?

Can you point out a game that wasn't criticized for its ending? It's always like this in video games. In films you have 1 hour to an hour and a half (on average) to build-up for the ending. In games you have 20-30 to 60 hours to build-up for the ending. It's normal that no ending seems a good-enough conclusion. So I am not worried about the ending. Most people criticized Alpha Protocol's ending, even claiming that the endings are not very different. Well, they were wrong. I doubt the reviewers tried all 16 different endings, so I really doubt that this is true.

Which ending are you talking about? It's only Act 1. No one aside from the devs/CDprojekt knows the endings so how can you say that the "16 endings have not much variety"?

The Pelit review didn't say the ending was bad, just that the beginning was better.

or maybe you can stop making assumptions as almost everything you mentioned is just hearsay. not only that, you keep repeating it in every thread.

I'm sorry to say but part (if not in whole) of these early reviewers goals are to get through the game as quickly as possible so they can be the first to get their reviews out (more interest drawn to their site/periodical). Though it is interesting to read about the opinions of others who have finished the game, I would take what they say with a grain of salt. There are plenty of games that can be turned into "speed runs" if your goal is to get through the game as quickly as possible. For the people that actually want to enjoy the game and actually explore the world, I'm sure that it will be a longer more enjoyable experience. Tom mentioned it being equivalent to the length of the first Witcher game, which I personally found even excluding added content to be a nice length. In regards to the 16 endings not having much variety, CDPR themselves said that there are 2-3 core differences in the endings, the total of sixteen being the state of the world depending on your previous choices. Think about it from the developer and story writing perspective: Sixteen totally different endings, and then when they write the next episode in the saga or create an expansion they have to start from sixteen different beginnings, based on where the player left off!? CDPR is good but I'd feel sorry for them if they had to go through the hell of writing a story based around sixteen different beginnings. As others have said, I don't expect an incredibly mind blowing conclusion to the game, just a fitting ending (cliffhangers or not).

Maybe it is just me, but It seems silly to already be asking for expansions and DLC before you even have the game in your hands. There was plenty of content in the original Witcher and CD Projekt Red claims that this is just as long if not longer as the first one. I would expect it to keep us busy for at least a little bit.My advice? Sit back, relax, and thoroughly enjoy the game when it comes out. :)

Ne0ge0 is right, these writers have deadlines and their playtime is limited. I feel sorry for them because they will never experience the satisfaction of enjoying the game for the purpose of enjoyment. Even if they replayed the game the excitement is less and the story is almost spoiled. The first play-through is the most exciting for me.Note: I find it hard to believe that a guy who just played the game for 20 to 30 hours can say that the endings don't have much variety. How many times did he play the "whole" game? Only once?

From what I'm hearing it sounds like he got one of the variations of one ending. The 16 endings are split up into 4 main endings and of those 4 endings there are 4 variations of each. I find it odd that he was able to play the game and get all 4(or even 2) main endings. I'm guessing he got a variation of the same main ending.
