Combat Abilities like the Reaper - having trouble telling if they're working

Hello, I just got to where I could get a few of the tier 4 combat abilities like The Reaper which is under the Strong steel I think and whirlwind - I think that's what it's called, anyway I held down the left button and saw the charge up and released it but I can't really tell that it's doing anything, according to the skill it does 130-260 damage plus some stun and stuff, the damage on that is pretty much double any of the other combos so you'd think it'd do a crap load of damage to a mob and have a different animation but whenever I do it, I can't tell it's even doing anything. It seems like it does the same animation as the tier 1 or 2 combo. Am I doing something wrong? Do I need to use it right after a certain chain? Like use it after the third chain in order for it to work? Ive noticed I can do it every couple seconds although it gets interrupted alot. Maybe it just doesn't do as much damage as I thought and maybe it looks like another combo in which case I'll eventually just get used to it, but if not I'd like to know if I am doing anything wrong. You can't do level 4 attacks in a chain.It's a charge-up attack, and requires endurance. You'll know it's working if your endurance goes down.(If you don't have enough endurance, you'll just do a normal attack)Personally, I only use charge-up attacks at range, to start combat .. geralt will rush in and do the attack.I made an exception vs. Javed, tho .. my endurance regen was so fast then, I could cycle signs and charge-up attacks and not let him get a swing in.
