Obvious improvements!! Still a bit clanky but animations are loads better(really loving the thrusts)!! Imo two things are missing, those are:

1: More exchanging of blows between Geralt and Human enemies, it still feels that human enemies have very few animations and attack too little

2:IMO there should be some kind of quick kill animation at least once in a while, something as simple as geralt stabbing through an enemies throat would do imo

ps: Please bring back the Aquiles stab!!! :p

I don't remember Yrden being mentioned yet. I've been wondering about this ever since the Griffin videos of E3. It obviously doesn't paralyze anymore. I think it instead slows enemies down, now?

I just noticed something. When Geralt fights the bandits, they have attacks with a white trailer, and attacks with a red one. This could indicate our foes now have light and strong attacks. A welcome addition if that's the case. I can see a number of ways this would add depth to the system. Go to 18:30.

This one in particular is stunning. It's really flashy, but it earns the flashiness. I'm very happy with the combat seen in the latest video. I'm also really fond of the different combat stances. There are some things I took for granted when watching TW3's gameplay videos for the first time, but when I saw footage of others games I realized how cool some of the small stuff are. The battle stances are one such thing. When watching Bloodborne videos it stood out to me how the character didn't look focused on the battle when in a fight. He just stood casually. Another one of those small victories is the lack of loading screens, which I noticed after watching DA:I videos.

Nitpicky points surrounding Aard:
- Enemies that are knocked down by Aard are frozen still for a few seconds. I would have liked to see them squirm around on the ground in a daze.
- When Geralt attacks a knocked down enemy he slashes at the air.

Something to note; it looks as if Geralt can block monster attacks as well, not just swords. I think he does that in the harpy fight, at 09:40. It's too fast for me to tell, but there's a clink against the sword and a spark. Considering I'm a big fan of blocking over jumping away, I'm glad.

Don't get too excited about this transition, that last spin-sweep didn't (and I think that couldn't) hit the second Endrega there

There is still the fast health regeneration.

Well spotted, took my face to the screen 4 times to see the shield guy do it twice, once while quick menu up, then again seconds after, it does look like a fast attack, and the same chap also does reds.

The slow-mo really does show off the quality of some of these animations. The ones against the endregas in particular are quite impressive. There are other places, however, where they don't work too well. A bit of a mixed bag, frankly. The way they do speed-up and slow-down in some of the animations feels a bit too... cartoonish for my taste.

that is beautiful

No, the slow-mo is introduced by the person that made the gifs.

The only place I've seen any in-game slow motion so far is when firing the crossbow and accessing the wheel menu.

Anyone else find it nonsense that Geralt can slash a man into two halves with one hit, but cannot break a wooden shield?

So I just read that you can use your witcher signs in combination with the crossbow? So I guess you can make flame arrows with Igni for example? Haven't seen this brought up recently.

http://analogaddiction.org/2014/07/28/the-witcher-3-geralts-crossbow-not-a-weapon-per-se/

According to our soon-to-be-published interview, developer CD Projekt RED has confirmed that Geralt’s impressive crossbow is more than a simple ranged weapon. Our protagonist will be able to combine his witcher Signs with it, resulting in different projectiles.

“Come to think of it, it’s not a weapon per se, but there are witcher Signs you could use to deal ranged damage. There’s ten of them (an alternative for every classical Sign known from the previous game),” says senior art producer, Michał Krzemiński.

Not that there is something impressive about cutting people in half. It's just a mindless butchery and a master swordsman should know better than that. As for wooden shields, it irritates me that someone can block a channeling Igni with it and manages to survive completely unscathed. It's a fucking wooden shield for gods sake!

Wood can be made fire resistant. In a world where magic and fire arrows exist it's not surprise to me that a wooden shield would be made fire resistant.

Plus the entire fact that from a gameplay perspective if any wooden shield bearer could just instantly be un-shielded with igni it would really be overpowered.

Well, you needs tons of fheat to start fire in wood, is not like paper or alcohol... Ok, they should have some burned marks, but that would be a lot of power consumption, and specially the console can't handle, they barely can load the witcher without this feature (the devs are almost bleeding to make 1080p ps4 and 900p xone)
And some pcs here around won't be able, too :/ "make an optionin the settings to activate/deactivate it" jesus in this forum everyone
(me included) end up with this solution, if we keep going in this way we will need to scroll the options half an hour to see all of them

There isn't exactly an overabundance of magic in the witcher world and I don't find it very believable that some low-life bandit would have a fire resistant shield. Balance-wise there could be a mechanic of reducing the damage for a while and then the shield would simply burn away. It kind of makes sense and it wouldn't make Igni OP imo.

WTH it's a video game, it's not real life!
I like to play video games so I can do and see cool stuff, stuff I could never do in real life.
This game is already way more realistic and better looking than "DAI" but it still has to be fun too!

;)
