Combat Queries conserning Witcher2-FCR

Hello everyone !

I read here and there thats im not the only one having hard time here, and would like maybe to get help from people who find this mode EASY to use in combat - how they do it ?

SIDE NOTE : playing on dark dificulty, and finished the original witcher two times already.

I want to note that in 1v1 situations there is no problem: not moving untill enemy hit so i block it , and then hit him, or just aard and then hit him. no problemo !

Problem comes in group fights, and at the moment im only in chapter 1 but I already faced the most frustrating fight - Melitele's Heart quest.

You need to fight 3 wraiths at once. Problem - if I hit a single attack on one wraith, the 2 others will hit me fast enough before i'll be able to retract by dodging/quen-blocking/auto-blocking, and 1-2 hits is all it takes to kill me in dark mode, but even that:
How am I suppose to do a 3v1 fight without taking damage ?? I am a witcher after all, I should be able to do it.. no ?
The only "solution" I found is kind of a cheat, and that is using the igni sign and dodging away, and repeat.
Not the most witcher-y but it works.

So what YOU guys think ? Anyone was able to defeat them in normal swordplay ?

Lets hear what tactic YOU use !! :D

(Some side notes : im having trouble using the new block-quen system, its just more efficient just using aard imo, plus, I cant riposte it seems)

I've only played with the new FCR2 mod for 1 Prologue level, but it feels more or less the same. For group fights, the most effective stlye for me...well, I will try to explain it here:

At first it may seem like the player can only left-click for light attacks and right-click for heavy attacks and the attack animation will be random--not so. When Geralt is ~2 meters (not really sure I guess I should call it mid-distance), a light attack will send flying forward with a daring spinning attack that will smack multiple enmies and a hit a single enemy three times. This gets very effective when Geralt gets the whirl ability.

A decent way to practice is to play through a couple of Arena mod levels on Easy difficulty so you can get the feel of the attacks without having the session end because you died to quickly.

And as always in TW2: dodge, dodge and dodge again. The new dodge animations are VERY cool in FCR2

Yeah, against the wraiths I used the same tactic as you did. I have also used active quen (E) a couple of times and it seems quite effective if you are surrounded by foes.

3 Wraiths? Easily. Watch for their counterattack, which means you only hit and run. Have Quen on as many times as possible, have specter oil used, drink the 3 potions of your choice (i always use virga, swallow, and the +10% swords damage), try to approach them as much as possible and use Geralt's attack with the left direction pressed before left clicking (that multistrike, whirlwind, left attack), then roll the hell away from them. +1 or +2 to that swordsman talent for rolling faster and further would really help, as well as the talent to receive normal damage from enemy backstabs. Those wraiths, when first playing dark, can be a hell of a gamestopper!

He is talking about combat advice on Full Combat Rebalance 2 mod. There are no skill talents for rolling further and faster, nor a normal backstab damage talent in FCR2.
