Computer slows then Freezes after exiting Witcher 3 only.

Hi i've got a very annoying problem with my system that seems to be isolated to when i play Witcher 3.

I fire up the game and play for a spell usually an hour or more and runs great. When i exit the game all other processes are unusable, steam doesn't sync, i cant view websites, open a video, the computer wont even shutdown it just sits there on the shutting down screen forever until i'm forced to reset.
I've run every diagnostic tool i can think of, memtest, chkdsk, i've run benchmarking on GPU, all tests have come back 100% fine. I've opened task manager and viewed processes and it says nothing is being used 99% system idle process when this problem occurs.
I've monitored temperatures during gameplay all seems normal to me, CPU doesnt go over 45c, MOBO 45c also, GPU is little higher but doesn't exceed 60c.
I've played other games and i don't have this problem occur so i'm at a loss as to why this is occurring only with Witcher 3.

Any help here would be appreciated.

My Rig.
Intel I7 3770k 3.5Ghz
32Gb RAM
Windows 7 home
Nvidia GTX 680 4Gb phantom
i use SSD to run game
ASUS ROG Max Formula MOBO

So the system is responsive, mouse moves and you can click around etc, but applications wont respond and shutdown hangs?
When its occurring can you create a new txt document somewhere on the SSD, and on a different drive?

Strange it only occurs on exiting Witcher specifically, you've verified the game data/updated graphics drivers (although doesn't sound like gfx card issue) etc?

Anything that stands out in event viewer around the time you quit the game, or the time you tried to shutdown?

From what you've said it sounds like it could be a disk issue. What kind of SSD?
Some SSDs (especially older ones) didnt handle power management well and if it's occurring just as you leave an intensive application but functions fine within the game itself (so doesn't seem to be heat or insufficient power related) it could be wigging out when it enters a lower power state on exit perhaps.

Does the SSD have the latest firmware installed, and windows has the latest sata controller drivers for your motherboard?

If there's nothing in logs then I guess try the normal stuff:
-Check voltages and temps, which it seems you've already done
-Update all drivers
-Update SSD firmware
-Update BIOS, or reset it if there's no newer update
-Connect SSD to a SATA port on a different controller (if your mobo has multiple)

I also often get issues upon exiting TW3. But for me, the game continues to run in background for a few moments (even the music is still playing), and I either have to end via task manager or it stops by itself after a few more moments.

I have gone through and checked all drivers updated SSD firmware and BIOS as you suggested Count all is upto date, unfortunately it has had no bearing on the problem. I don't believe its a disk issue as i have installed the game on 3 different hard drives 2 SSD's and a regular one all of which produce the same results epic lag after game exit. If it means Anything the game is currently installed on a Corsair Force 3 SSD 240Gb.

other games i've tested with Dragon Age: I , Dead rising 3, Deus Ex: HR, They the only ones i have installed at the mo, no more DL usage left till rollover DLing Witcher 3 times takes quite a bit of it lol.

Those Games run smooth and exit fine.

Very strange, I leaned towards drive as doesnt seem heat/power related, system isn't freezing outright or crashing. Inability to access system drive could make apps not load/shutdown fail while the OS remains somewhat responsive. Best of luck finding the root cause.

The witcher3 process ends when you quit the game right? It's not hanging around but with near 0 resource usage?

no doesn't hang around at all a few seconds maybe

I believe i have found the problem, Witcher 3 is having a negative reaction to NVIDIA Geforce Experience, in particular NVIDIA Shield. Not that i use any of that software so i uninstalled it, has been good for the last hr or so. gonna keep testing though.

I have noticed the game doesn't shut down immediately. It appears it has to terminate many processes before complete shotdown. When I close the game to desktop the sound keeps running in the background and my desktop is 'freezing' for a short while. But I have not had any OS crashes. The freezing only lasts between 5-8 seconds.

nope i was wrong its not Nvidia Experience, after i deleted it and played i was able to exit game ok and had no probs going back in again which was something i could not do before, made me think i had cracked it, but i was wrong after i played for 2 hrs or so the epic lag occurred again.
