Connected Stash, Removed or Bugged?

Miles had tweeted back in October that the vehicle's trunk and the apartment stash were connected. I threw some items into the trunk yesterday for the first time and went to pull them out on another car and they weren't there. Then I went back to the apartment and they didn't show up either. Got access to the vehicle again a couple hours later and they were in the trunk. I may have put some items in a stolen vehicle(can't recall but I'm pretty sure I had a clothing set that is now missing) and it worries me that they might be gone for good.

Did the linked stashes get removed before launch or are they just bugged currently?

That's the question I have as well. I swore the game help text near the beginning said they were linked, but indeed mine are not linked at all.
