Considering buying Witcher 2 on Steam - question about controls

Hi! I see that The Witcher 2 for PC supports the use of a gamepad, can someone tell me if the game has an option that allows me to switch the controls into a "southpaw" mode? I want to be able to move the camera with the left stick and move my character with the right stick.

Thanks!

Folks on other forums have informed me that there is no way to make this switch without using 3rd party software.

What a bummer, it looks like a cool game.

then use third party software. Don't let such a small detail stop you from playing one of the best games of the current generation. Also play the first one, an underrated jewel.

And finally, if you buy from GOG.com instead of Steam you directly support the developers and get it DRM free and full of extras like artwork and soundtrack.

I don't think there is a single game out there that supports this.

Portal 2 does. And there are definitely some games out there that support rebinding of controls for joysticks as well as for KB/M setups (Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, at least some games from the Battlefield series), which also would allow for this.

As for TW2, it shouldn't be too hard to find a workaround for this, and it really seems a trivial reason to pass the game up for, but it is of course your (OP) call : ).

I second buying from GOG.com. The developers own that company so the money will go straight to them. Also, like Volsung said you get a lot of cool extras with it.

I would just buy TW1 and TW2 to play them both. The first one truly is a great story. Actually, I'm playing through it again right now and I would say I like the story better than TW2. I won't spoil anything by saying why.

I got the retail copy when it was first released.

Better yet, play this with keyboard + mouse... you can remap the buttons to be anything you want and the controls imho are FAR superior to playing with a controller. I've tried both and I have years of console playing experience. I think the camera control that mouse gives you is a huge help in TW2.

Honestly, i'd suggest getting used to the default control scheme; unless you have some kind of disability. Not many games support "Southpaw", so you'll be severely limiting the amount of games you can play in the future.
