With more budget you can either employ more skilled people or buy better tools or both. So there is no difference to what I've said.

But I can't really believe that CDPR doesn't have enough money to employ the best animators out there given the fact that their artists clearly offer one of the best art directions I've ever seen in a video game... ;)

About motion capture: it's just the first step in animation. Without a skilled animator and artists doing the fine work motion captured pictures don't look that well. And not to forget that we don't know whether CDPR for example also motion captured normal walking animations. I also guess they didn't motion capture horses (Warhorse for example plans to do so for KCD...)

They motion captured 16 hours of sex...

I think they managed to fit walking in there as well.

Strickly speaking AC doesn't have a jump button to my memory. It has an action button, which allows for the game to integrate animations better in the context of the previous action as well as the intended destination. it's a completely different system to a free jump button. A better comparison would be Dragons Dogma, which had a rather enjoyable jump button, along with many of its other animations.
Yep, CDPR have got to nail the jump animations.
Dragon's Dogma did a great job, to bad they can't just call that animater up on the phone, and be like, yo help us! lol.. I remember lost planet having nice jump animation, but that's CAPCOM too for ya. The next best jumps, would be games like RDR or GTAV. CDPR Needs to Not do jump animations anything like Skyrim or DAI, they look so stupid and have no weight to them. Gawd I hope they can pull it off in time! What about the jumping over things in the 35 min demo, it looked good to me, and the climbimg looked pretty good as well? I did see a jump animation in one demo before the 35min demos came out, and it looked good and weighty, it was realistic like GTAV almost, so I don't know what's going on. CDPR should show us some of their jump animations to choose from and then let us vote for the best or give them better feed back to make it look better, if it needs it.
;)

I agree in that they need to veer away from skyrim and bioware and more in a less than afterthought direction. And true that is capcom for ya, but that's not to say it can't happen for.cdpr

I just wrote a big paragraph pointed out a lot of complaints but decided to undo it realizing that I was nitpicking. This game took you guys 3.5 years to make. I won't bitch about it no more. Just bring it on May 19th.

My only criticisms are of a few animations. It seems Geralt's jog animation has gotten very rigid. It looked better to me in the previous builds, as did the jump. I also noticed they removed the transition animation from jog to walk, sprint to jog etc.
And finally, our dear CDPR's weakness... door opening. haha.

Everything else looks stellar.

Don't you find it strange that Geralt jumps over the fences instead of climbing over?

But Northern Kingdoms are not Australia.

That's what Eastern European (Poland, Russia) banks of rivers look like.

i've been really excited about this game and with every video that comes, i get even more hyped.
Everything looks awesome so far. i personally, unlike other people, could care less about graphics. what i'm generally interrested in is the story and writing for the quests, immersion and roleplaying.
so far we've all the different aspects that i'm interrested in except for the role playing aspect which we haven't been able to see much, in my humble opinion.
The dialogues for instance seem somewhat limited. i was hoping for something more extensive and complex in that departement. other than, that's pretty much it.
I'd love to hear what you guys think of what you seen for the role playing aspect, because i don't think that's been brought up enough. also if one of CDPR could tell us more, i'd be very pleased.
thank you for reading this post !

looks pretty awesome, thanks for sharing
.
An other thing i noticed is that some locations in the game reminds strangely of the gothic series like the city of novigrad which reminds me a bit of the city of Khorinis.

Well I felt that dialog options took a step down from Witcher 1 to Witcher 2. Hope they don't simplify it further. I don't appreciate the abridging of dialog options that approximate what they end up saying, as it can often be misleading. Not sure why they felt the need to copy that bad idea from other developers.

that makes us two friend -high five-
that for me is an important aspect of role playing and neglecting it takes away from immersion. what they've showed us so far when it comes to dialog was pretty simplistic like TW2, hopefully it'll be different as you progress through the game.:innocent:

Damn man, you're right. I just noticed now after rewatching. Seeing those animations in the old gameplay thrilled me since i used to spend a lot of time in W2 act1 just walking and jogging around admiring the view and the lack of transition animations annoyed me to no end.
It looked perfect in 35min video and i was looking forward to trekking around without ever summoning Roach.

Why? Why would they do this? Why must this world be so cruel?

Please tell me I'm jumping to conclusions and it's actually not gone for good...

It seems to me Geralt face has few versions. The first the chubby version and the second when he's with Vesemir (griffin eating horse section). And the bath tub section. His face seems about right during the griffin section. I hope they can use that instead of the chubby version.

It was probably already mentioned, but people should try to stay out of the way of galloping horses. When Geralt and Vesemir ride to White Orchard, the villagers make no move to avoid the riders. There's even a child playing with a bow in the middle of the road that seems to be as unimpressed by horses at full speed as a rock. It should be easy to fix this issue, though, since the geese seem to be smarter and flee, but for now it looks very unnatural.

Also the way Geralt jumps looks funny. That's not Geralt, the White Rabbit. Good to read the REDs are on it.

The splats when Geralt jumps into water should be more prominent, all the more when he jumps into deep water. It almost looks like they're currently non-existent.

The HUD still is too intrusive. For example the medallion and the life bar are hopefully smaller in the finished game.

Although it has been improved compared to earlier builds, I'm still not totally content with Geralt's face, but I guess there won't be changes anymore. But who knows what the devs have in mind for the DLC. There is already another version of Yennefer, so hope dies last.

The same goes for the overall tone of color. Less bright, more of the so-called "dark and edgy" atmosphere would be great. But I guess we won't find out if the game looks too light-hearted before the release. And maybe there will be changes afterwards similar to W2 where Act 3 was "darkened" in the EE:

Everything else was fine or not worth criticizing in my opinion, especially the Nilfgaardian camp (the infamous wall textures put aside). So far it's definitely the best gameplay demonstration.

Hmm.. Geralt could not sprint or jump, or even freely climb in TW2 on my XB360, and It was hard to just make him slow down and walk like a real person. :(
Now in TW3 we can do all of that, but It looks like Geralt only jogs and sprints now, maybe the walk animations are just for citys :( I was hoping, I could just walk around the world, like RDR then hold A to jog then keep tapping A to sprint. Same for the horse controls..Oh well... wish it was like that, but I don't think it is. All I wanted to do in TW2 was just have Geralt walk, so I could just enjoy the view/art of the world and play it more realistic, without baby sitting the left stick.
It was such a pain in the ass to keep the left stick in the right position just to have Geralt walk at a speed that looked cool and perfect in animation. lol..

I mostly agree with your above statments, I find it strange that none of the npc's even looked at them riding through. The other thing that was kinda lame, was the sound and recorded distance of them talking. The voice actors are fine, but it didn't sound like they were outside yelling over there horse and the distance did not match their tone. I think RDR did a great job with this area of things, I hope TW3 can match that at least. Anyways... no worries about the hud, we can change that.

In PC games I've found they generally offer a walk modifier button which can be used anywhere. Like shift is generally sprint, but reverse (to compensate for the lack of analog input on a keyboard). This is the case for Skyrim if i recall. I wouldn't lose hope for casually strolling the Nilfgaardian countryside.

You will be able to walk around the world. Just because you didnt see the walk animation in new gameplay doesnt mean its not there.

CDPR makes stunning environments and vistas, doesn't let players walk around environments to grasp on their glory.

Yeah, that isn't going to happen

I think the jump animations of Geralt jumping over those dead trees and small waist sized walls in the 35min demo looked awesome and perfect, they better not change that to much. The climb looked good too, maybe smooth things out more and make it solid. I know in GTAV if you are next to a curb, the animation will change and you just step over it.
That might work well for those little walls like the ones in that village, in the new gameplay video. I saw Geralt jump over it, but maybe it looked off and not weighty enough, idk... maybe it looks better in general and we just saw that one jump silly jump animation? Who knows...
