Corrupted save files?

I have reached close to the end of the second chapter (I think) and so far encountered 5-6 crashes. No big deal as I'm a slow player and have spent many hours already.Last time it was nasty, though. It happend right when Geralt was about to wake up after meditation. This time I had a blue screen and reboot of my computer. Hasn't happened before. I tried to start the game several times with the same result:Blue screen and reboot. Sometimes after 5-10 seconds of play, sometimes already at the menu screen. Finally it seemed to be stable again after I removed the last save from within the save folder.I played for awhile and everything went smooth. Then I had my first autosave after restart and soon after that the game crashed again.Something is wrong with the saves I presume. What shall I do? I'm thinking of doing a backup of my saves, reinstall the game and put them back.I have two harddisks but when I try to install the game on the second harddisk it wont allowe me to do that. Instead I'm asked if I want to remove the game.Anyway around this?Great game but this is very frustrating.

How many saved games do you have? How much disk space on the drive with the game files?

I have 42 saves. I have deleted quite a lot during play. There is also a folder within the save-game folder namned 00031-The Outskirts of Vizima-016. Looks a bit odd but I can't say if it should be there or not.My drive ( not disk, sorry) is 224Gb and I have used 63.

Oops. I just realised that I installed the game on one drive and the saves are located on the other one. They are the same size and both have about 160GB space unused.

OK, this is what my save folder looks like. That 000031 folder looks strange to me. Outside the saves folder and inside as well.I don't know anything about coding but it just seems strange. If someone could spot anything and tell me if there's anything I should doI would be eternally grateful.

Oh boy. I'll go on if anyone is interested. I countinued to try stuff and after a couple of more crashes I actually got the message that I could seek the internet for solutions. It was the first time it was available. Guess what:problem caused by NVIDIA Graphics DriverThis problem was caused by NVIDIA Graphics Driver. This program was created by NVIDIA Corporation. NVIDIA Corporation does not currently have a solution for the problem that you reported.I was surprised. I was sure it had something to do with the saves. Well, it also turned out that I didn't have the latest drivers :-[.After installing those I managed to play longer but eventually (~5min) it crashed again. This time without a blue screen and reboot, though.Maybe there is still hope.

What kind of card are you using, what is your file system, and you might try reducing the folder to two saves.

Thanks for trying to help but I now think that there's something seriously wrong with my comp or perhaps only the videocard if I'm "lucky". It's 8800 GTS by the way.I did a reinstall and then got as far as the menu before it crashed. I then tried two other games that never caused any problem and they both crashed almost immeditly.I can't be sure but to me it looks like The Witcher caused serious harm to my comp. I did nothing but play this game for a week and now my comp is fu*d up.
