What that means is you can set fire to lots of people up to 12 feet away! rally cuts down on the emo and adds to the running-around-on-fire-screaming quotient!

Sure, its beautiful... they get all fabbed up, like depressed and shiny runway models, we have easily identifiable targets...

I mean it used to be we had to wait for the guys with swords and trenchcoats to identify the real posers.... now its like the posers go out of their way with elaborate costumes for us... its beautiful....

You know, I don't know many of us who are depressed. And I have no idea what we are posing besides eachother maybe? We just dress different. Other than that we are just normal people. At least it isn't Tapout shirts....

True, a tapout shirt is like today's version of the mullet.

Really, I just hate the idea that cyberpunk is, in and of itself, a fashion statement... at that point really its just a played out and meaningless term... and might as well apply to anything.

Ohh I have shiny plastic pants and day glo earings... I am so cyberpunk...

OOOOOOh my cereal flakes has cinnamon sparkles and raisins.... thats soooooooooooo cyberpunk....

OOOOOOOOOOO I drank too much grape soda and now my piss is bright green.... thats so cyberpunk.... actually.... green piss is kinda cyberpunk...

Anyway, the real point is, is that I want to play solo's who switch between tactical gear, full suit body armor (with the option to go sleeveless because it ooks cooler) and high end silk or linen suits...

Or I want to play Nomads in scuffed leathers ala mad max, or armor made from street signs and used tires...

If I were playing a netrunner, media, or a rocker, I guess the majority of fashions here would be fine...

I just don't want badass, classic, and cool, to be lost in shiney bit tidal waves of plastic and glowy.

I also want you kids to get off my lawn....

Well of course you have got to have that to! The citizens of Night City are nothing if not diverse after all. I'm sure when you Nomads come into town, you think that all the crazy city kids look pretty silly. :p

But their big glowing mohawks do help put the punk in Cyberpunk. (a little)

Edit: I mean i know the punk is for the anti authoritarian tones of it, but you know.

No, they won't.

The folks that look like this?

Or the folks in the "Pong" video by Eisenfunk?

We dress like this now. We've been dressing like this for years.

And we are DEFINITELY not Emo.

(I say "we," because folks in the Industrial scene have taken the Cyberpunk ethos to heart for over 20 years. And not just the "fashion victim" part of it.)

addendum: The kids above are the new-school Industrial kids. The "Cyber" kids. I'm more old-school m'self; military surplus fatigues, combat boots, band t-shirt or muscle shirt.

I personally love the styles at Burning Man.

Modern ravers and shit mixed with a gang banger style. You know to suit my Slaughterhouse gang member. Leather jackets to Harrington jackets with the gang logo on the back like Hell's Angels, Mongols, etc.

I would also like to stress anything in BLACK or even MATTE Black finish clothing as well as cybernetics.

No offense Redge, you know I love you man... but those people look pretty silly.... maybe it all comes down to the oversized cartoon footwear, or maybe its the fact that they all looked like they are escapees from Boy George's dysentery induced fever dreams... but none of them scream badass, or dangerous to me.... instead they scream "I am gonna cry if I break a nail" and "How the fuck do I walk with these ridiculous shoes on"....

That and I really hate the androgynous look... it always looks clownish to me... and I bloody well hate clowns...

No argument here. ;-)

Some of the gear is pretty wiz, but I'm a big believer of never wearing anything you can't fight in...

But part of the fun of the Cyberpunk universe was the fashion diversity. It's not just black trench coat and mirror shades.

Players clothing came in several styles; Generic Chic, Leisurewear, Urban Flash, Businesswear, Edgerunner, and High Fashion.
Not only that, but there were many brands players could choose from: Nu-Tek, Uniwear, Image Fashionware, Icon America, Gibson Battlegear, Tanaka, Eji of Japan, Cryo-Max, etc...

If players want to go Edgerunner and dress like Matrix or Deus Ex knock offs, then they can, but if a players wants to put on some light-emitting polychromic Urban Flash, then they should be able to as well.
