No argument here. I tend to mix n' match, m'self. I've no problem with wearing combat boots with a suit.

But part of the fun of the Cyberpunk universe was the fashion diversity. It's not just black trench coat and mirror shades.

Players clothing came in several styles; Generic Chic, Leisurewear, Urban Flash, Businesswear, Edgerunner, and High Fashion.
Not only that, but there were many brands players could choose from: Nu-Tek, Uniwear, Image Fashionware, Icon America, Gibson Battlegear, Tanaka, Eji of Japan, Cryo-Max, etc...

No one is saying they shouldn't pal.. just worried from the thread that any devs who look at it will think the wierder stuff is the only thing people want in the game...

More than just the rave scene should be takne into consideration... nomads, professional solos, corporates... they aren't going to dress like refugees form a disco acid trip.....

Also, regular old jeans, t-shirts, tennis shoes... its important not to forget that stuff...

Not everyone want to look crazy

Some of the Shrine gear, I can picture in a modern, 2077 "opium den" (or the '77 equivalent) being worn by the Big Boss and some of their select harem.

I'm going to have a hard time reconciling style with practicality. I understand the style over substance bit, but since I'll be spending most of the game shooting people up, why should I wear anything other than militech armor? Maybe we need causal wear as a separate option.

A lot of it is pretty.... hmm.... sissy maybe? I mean I could see David Bowie wearing it and being able to pull off cool in it... but not really anyone else... David Bowie has a gift like that, being able to pull off just about anything... except the ziggy stardust thing... that was embarrassing even for him...

Adam Ant could try... but try as he might to be David Bowie, he could never pull it off half as well...

But there were some jackets in there I could see a fixer wearing...

And Sardi's jacket does in fact look pretty good...except for the cuffs... they kinda ruin it...

The cuffs are terrible, true. I prefer my current look.

I like the selection, actually. Very Corp-party/Fashionista/Rocker-eccentric/Fixer-ish. I still hold out much hope for a non-combat run-through being possible.

Note I say, "non-combat" not, "non-lethal". I find the former very Cyberpunk, if you are a certain kind of manipulative bastard, such as the Mentalist. Non-fatal in 2020 seems hilariously unlikely to me, especially when the stakes get high.

I also want to "rub shoulders with high-fashion models" as the core book promised me long ago. These outfits would suit such a party high above.

Can I dress like I did back in the 70's?
That stuff was ... well ... different.

((I get many laughs looking at pictures of myself taken then ... I actually wore that stuff !))

Is it terrible if I think a lot of those options are actually okay? Not for me to wear irl, but I could easily see a certain subculture of people in CP2077 donning such attire, and would appreciate the inclusion.

It's not really terrible. You couldn't cope very well with these attires in present day, but in Cyberpunk 2077, hell yea!

Oh, and some more things to add here.

We need the ability to layer clothing.

Also, maybe not have it so that apparel has stats. Because I like to go for a nice look, but sometimes in other games if you want the best stats you end up wearing a random mish-mash of clothing that makes you look like a weirdo.

Only apparel that should have stats are the various armored clothing. Shouldn't be like a fantasy game, where equipping Power Tie of the Boardroom Meeting grants you +5 to Persuasion and Speech.

No no, it should be latex.. look at the movies from 1950's to 2010's, future is made from latex :D

All jokes aside (except from this one, i will keep this one) i would like to see an armored trench coat (something like "NCR Veteran Ranger" armor), an armored jacket and an high tech bussiness suit.
