Crafting and Slotting Quickhacks (bit of a rant)

+
This is not going to come across well, but "ya done messed it up" is about as civil as I can make it.

Let's start pre-1.5 since it at least sorta worked then. Uncommon quickhacks were not craftable. You got the schematics by taking the appropriate perk (Hacker's Manual) but it was mostly a wasted perk point because Uncommons were uncraftable. You could still get them by hacking access points or buying them from Quickhack vendors, though. Annoying, but not a major issue if you had the eddies. When you took the "School of Hard Hacks" perk, you got the Rare schematics and, like the Iconic weapons, the Uncommon quickhack was one of the components. Again, they were plentiful enough that if you wanted the Rare, you sacrificed an Uncommon to get it; if you wanted the Epic (Hacker Overlord perk), you sacrificed a Rare to make it, and if you wanted the Legendary (Bartomoss' Legacy perk), you sacrificed an Epic to make it. Again, all minorly annoying, but not major hurdles. Want a Legendary Short Circuit? Buy the Uncommon (or get it from an Access Point), use that to make a Rare, use the Rare to make an Epic, and use the Epic to make the Legendary. Then slot the Legendary in your deck. A bit tedious, but doable.

Post-1.5, it's just messed up. You can craft Uncommons now (yay!), provided you don't already have that quickhack in your inventory (boo!). And that's the kicker. If you have that quickhack in any quality level, you cannot craft it. Got a Rare-level Cyberdeck and an Epic Short Circuit? You're not putting Short Circuit into that deck unless you can manage to either buy a Rare/Uncommon one, or snag a Rare/Uncommon one from an Access Point. You can't craft it, even with the components and appropriate perk, because you already have one in your inventory; it's Epic and essentially unusable because your Cyberdeck is too low level to slot it, but just having one prevents you from making any others.

The cherry on top is hacks like Cyberware Malfunction. As long as you've slotted a Rare or Uncommon, you're good against Cyberpsychos. Shut down their cyberware, beat on them with some non-lethal weapon (and hope you can take them down before the duration runs out), call Regina, collect your eddies, and move on. Slot an Epic or Legendary and you're hozed. Shut down their cyberware, beat on them with a non-lethal weapon, and then hope you get the phone call into Regina before one of their pieces of cyberware explodes and kills them (one of the side effects of the Epic/Legendary quality for that particular quickhack, which makes the lower-level versions superior for some uses).

Just as an added gripe, if you upgraded your cyberdeck, the installed quickhacks used to just migrate to the new one. Not anymore, and you can't disassemble (an area where the "Waste Not Want Not" perk should be helpful). If you try to put the old cyberdeck back, the old quickhacks are just gone. Poof! Now you have to go find new quickhacks of the appropriate quality to match your new cyberdeck.

It's just messed up. The simplest fix, I think, would be to just remove the "it's uncraftable if there is already one in your inventory" restriction. It's not an elegant solution and probably suffers from the "easy eddies" bit of crafting "Target Analysis" mods, but that's a balancing issue and not a functional issue. At least it should make the whole system sorta work.

From my memories,
- pre 1.5, uncommon QHs were craftable, at least if you have the required components.
- post 1.5, uncommon QHs are also craftable, at least if you have the required components.
Components which are easy to earn for free, by hacking access points.

You don't sacrify anything, you simply upgrade a uncommon QH to a rare one, then a rare QH to a epic one and so on... In short, a uncommon QH become useless if you have the same in rare version).

You can put and use a legendary QH in every cyberdeck available (even the very first Militech Paraline). "Use" at least if you have enough RAM to upload it.

QHs on your previous Cyberpunk are not lost, they are just removed. They are "ready" to be installed on your new one.
