Crafting Iconic Items

Why in the world does some iconic gear require a base item and others don't? I'd just like some consistency.

I Destroyed one of my Iconic weapons because I thought I could craft a new one. Now its gone forever??? WTF! What kind of game is this? WHY WOULD YOU ALLOW IT TO BE DESTROYED?

I knew about this issue but it still caught me off-guard while ripping apart two dozen guns in my inventory this evening.

At minimal, iconic weapons should have a confirmation-destruction box; or a unique boarder color, something....

Breaking one down? I do that to iconic weapons that I pick up all of the time. And yes, that's why folks disassemble stuff, haha.

I recommend saving it prior to doing things like this in the event that you do this. Worst case though, is that you can re load your most recent, even if it's an autosave, to preserve the item.

Is the golden background and "iconic" moniker not enough to point out that you should put it in a stash instead of destroying i? Or maybe the stash displaying iconic weapons (though sadly not all) on the wall?

It would be great if you can buy or craft iconic Items. I sold my iconic weapons with the plan to craft them later in the game. I didn't know you need to have the original weapon to use the blueprints
