Crash to desktop upon entering flotsam.

I've been having this issue where every time I enter flotsam the game crashes right to desktop. It happens in the same place every time. I tried lowering my graphic settings, I also tried keeping it on ultra spec while lowering my texture memory size and disabling all Depth of Field options. I have had no problems running the game at all till this very part.

My comp specs are as follows
Radeon Hd 4850 1gb
Amd Phenom X4 3.1 gb
4gb of ram
500gb hardrive

Its ok I just went with the backup copy from gog and I was alright from there besides being limited in my graphic options. Something tells me either the saves got corrupted or maybe it has something to do with the steam overlay.
