Maybe it is because i have too much saves?
Specs:
Intel i5 2.67ghz
8gb of ram
Asus gtx 460 1gb
Enough space.
I updated my bios and my network card recently because someone said me to do so.
My graphic card driver is up to date.

I have the same problem, not found yet the reason and its only on this game :(.
I can handle this cause it appears for me only if i'm trading with a Npc,in the game enviroment i had this once till now and thats not bad.I am sad cause my bro cant play this wonderful game on his new machine. He becomes desktop crashes randomly any 5-6 mins.Maybe its cause he has an AMD Card.If someone has a solution would be nice.I tried already setting changes etc...(SSAO disable,Texture size,Antivirus and Malware closed).

same problem here. the game worked flawlessly before. didn't change any hardware/drivers etc... game keeps crashing randomly to desktop without any error message. so i guess there must have been made some changes in the last patch(es) that brought this crashes to desktop. i even removed my old installation (Retail DVD) and installed the GOG Version. Still the same problem. I began an new game, when the enhanced version/patch came out and then the game ran without any flaws. i played until Flotsam and then took a little break. for the last 2 weeks i want to continue the game now in flotsam but now this crashes occure, so i guess it must have something to do with one of the last patches after the big enhanced update.

In the configurator tool try setting the
Texture downscaling - none
Texture Memory Size - Medium
SSAO - Disabled
Dangling Objects Limit - Disabled
Ubersampling - Disabled
Then retry game .

If still crashing please post system specs . If your computer hasn`t been cleaned in a while it may be a good time to check for dust buildup around the CPU and GPU fans and heatsinks

nothing to find there, after the crash happens. :(
i was able to play to play game now for a long time without any crash, while playing outside the town of foltsam. back in the town of foltsam the crashes appear randomly again, when any action is done like enter/exit any door, house, conversation, buy menu, inventory. etc... so i doubt it has something to do with overheating hardware or faulty drivers because then the game would just crash when simply standing or running around.

Have you tried doing a clean install of the video drivers .When you start the video driver install there is an option in the Custom tab that will allow "clean install" . Also if you are not going to be using 3D then don`t install the 3D drivers also available in the Custom tab .
