Crash when enabling RTX or when opening and closing menus

+
Hello,

I can't seem to figure this one out.

About 6 months ago, the game ran smoothly, no issue

I have reinstalled it right now and getting CTD when loading a save or a few minutes into the prologue
I have tried disabling RTX, it kinda worked, still getting random crash (Mostly when opening and closing menus) but also randomly.

My Rig :
RTX 3080
AMD Ryzen 5 5800X
16Go RAM 3600 MHz

I have tried everything I could find on the web and still no luck : Reinstall drivers with DDU, verify game files, deleting bin folder, couldn't find a Nahimic service on my computer.

If you have any ideas, because right now I can't think of anything more I can do...

The crash log give me this :
Error reason: Assert
Expression: <Unknown>
Message: Gpu Crash for unknown reasons! Callstack here is probably irrelevant. Check if Breadcrumbs or Aftermath logged anything useful.
File: E:\R6.Release\dev\src\common\gpuApi\src\dx12\gpuApiDX12Error.cpp(42)

GPU Crash Reason: Unknown

Just a guess, I'm not an expert at all, but I've read that it could be due to OC. GPU, CPU or RAM (XMP).
Cyberpunk seem to be very sensitive to any kind of OC.

Hmm, Yea OC seems likely but for me its always a DX12 crash when that happends (when im pushing my GPU oc). Overlays can mess with the game too, Xbox overlay is known too be a issue. https://www.groovypost.com/howto/disable-xbox-game-bar-on-windows/
Also i would disable every overlay (even nvidia GFE) too see if it works. If it works without RTX im guessing it could be a crash due too power draw. RTX is quite the power hog so keep an eye on power draw. Not just steady power draw either but can spike really high -.-

It is a MPG A750GF 750W PSU

And there is no OC except XMP enabled, tried disabling it, no change.

Should be sufficient and also have the right quality.

Would it help if you limit the graphics card gpu clock? You could limit the maximum clock with MSI Afterburner to see if the factory overclocking is already too much.

Yeah i'm going to check that later, redoing a clean install to see if that changes anything.

Should I limit the core clock and memory clock ?

Grrr...I hate it when manufacturers overclock stuff by default.

However, I do not recommend underclocking for the purposes of troubleshooting. Disabling the OC is fine, but leave all clock and voltage settings at factory defaults aside from that. Underclocking may compound the errors or introduce new errors, making it even harder to figure out what's happening.

This part looks like it's where the problem begins:
...

Breadcrumbs: > COMMANDLIST_SCOPE [marker=1]
Breadcrumbs: FinalFlushBarriers [marker=0]

...
Following that is a whole lotta "Not started [x]" stuff. It looks like whatever lighting stuff the game tried to merge didn't happen properly. Are you using any mods, or have you ever used any in the past?

So I tried underclocking, no luck.

I have been using mods, uninstalled all of the files, deleted the game taking care to delete what was still left in the Cyberpunk 2077 folder and reinstalling the game.

Theres some hidden files for Cp2077 too: C:\Users\YOUR USER NAME\AppData\Local\CD Projekt Red and C:\Users\YOUR USER NAME\AppData\Local\REDEngine . Could be something leftover in the user settings i guess. some mods has been known too leave settings even if uninstalled (its rare tho)

But, are you still using those same saved games? If so, the reference data from the mods are still in there, and could be what's causing your issue.

Try starting a brand new game on that installation and use brand new save slots. See if it happens there, as well. If not, it's likely a problem with your save states. If it does result in the same issues, we can be fairly sure its the installation, drivers, API conflict, etc.

Just started a corpo new save, game crashes as soon as I arrive at Lizzy's Bar

So unfortunately, I can't really help and maybe it's already done, but I could advice you to send a ticket to the support (the sooner, the better), and adding as many details/infos as possible in the ticket (DxDiag, crash log, the link of this thread,...).
"Contact Us" button :

Yep already tried, they told me to launch the game in clean boot, tried that didn't work and asked me if it happened with rtx on. I answered and got no follow up.

Ok, it's been a while or few days ?
(but the support always answer and keep answering as far as I know).
I just find something which could be related to your issue (which only occure with RTX enabled).

Above all, the very last part :
"According to what the experts on NVIDIA forums said, a 650W or 750W PSU is not enough. And those who experience RTX 3080 crashing problem managed to get it working at last."
Maybe when enabling RTX, your PSU reach its limit and is unable to "feed" your RTX 3080 at some point which lead to a crash :(

^ Definitely check out what @LeKill3rFou linked to there. See if any of that applies.

Hmmm. That's awfully particular. Can you list your specs?

Also, can you run a full dxdiag in 64-bit mode?

Have there been any Windows Updates lately for Win10?

Lastly, tell me a bit about your present system config:
Is this Windows 10 installation clean, or was it an upgrade from Windows 8.1 for example? Do you have any partitions on your drive? Multiple OS installations (e.g. like a dual-boot system)? Where do you download your drivers from? (Anything else you can think of that may be any form of unusual.)

I think nvidia recommends 750w for 3080 but dependning on the model(asus strix has a higher max wattage for example.) it can draw more and probably need a beefier psu. With a 5800x it "should" be enough tho.. Since your card hade a factory OC im guessing it ahs a higher powerdraw too

Possible, but issues with a PSU or other hardware will likely not result in problems that can be easily recreated at the software level. In fact, one of the key signs that a problem is likely hardware related is that it seems totally random.

Just for my own knowledge, if you install few "big" additional fans (because the outside temperature easily exceeds 35°C as currently in France), few cosmetic illuminations, gaming mouse/keyboard/headphones/gamepads and 2,3 or 4 drives (SSD/HDD), 750W still enough or its totally separate ?
I'm always wary of "recommended", because often it's "just" what is needed without too much leeway :)
(I read that "many" still recommend an 850W PSU for RTX 3080/90 in case, but maybe they're wrong^^)
