Create a Skybox in RedKit ?

Hi,

I would like to design my own skybox and not use the dynamix skybox shown in every turorials ...

How can I do It ?
Can I play with the lights, to have a colder or warmer environement ?

Thanks for your answers :)

skybox folder, there is a subfolder skybox, and it still skybox_01 folder. Or another option to create your own textures and add them. Everything is very simple and intuitive.

That's how I did it:

I copied the static clearskybox into my level and changed the texture to my own. Then I did the same with the dynamic_clouds skybox that had motion. I created my own texture, which was basically just clouds with an alpha channel. So in the end you see moving clouds on my changed clearskybox sky. Since I used more than one dynamic_clouds skybox and changed the speed, it looks like the clouds are moving independantly or are more far away than others.

Playing with the lights is something completely different than the skybox. You can find a detailed tutorial on the wiki page: http://wiki.cdprojektred.com/redkit/Environment+Lighting

Thanks for your answers and the link for lightnings.

By reading your posts, I feel I have to create a Entity Template in the Entity Editor.

Knowing that I'm a real NOOB :p, could you be more precise.
Once more, thx guys

I took the time to look at your work in Old Lykaon.
Now things are getting clearer for me :D.

But I a new little question:

Clouds move very quickly in Old Lykaon ...
Can me change the speed ? And if yes how can I do that ?

Thanks for your answers ;)

Ah, I think I only used an existing skybox for Old Lykaon. Yes, you can easily change the speed. Don't take everything I am going to say for granted, since I can only work from my memory (W3 skies are completely different and way more awesome. Seriously o_O !!!).
Open the dynamic_clouds skybox. In its properties, there should be two materials. One of them should have information about the speed, the used texture, etc. in its node properties. Then you can simply experiment what you like.
My tip would be to use 2 or more skyboxes with different clouds and alpha channels (so you can only see clouds, no sky texture) and let them have different speeds. Looks very nice in real time (unlike in the video, where you can see that it is an actual skybox).
In the video I still used a texture for the sky itself, but I got rid of that now, so I can actually change the colour of the sky in the area environment properties. This way you have the most control over what happens up there. :)
