Creating Terrain

Hey, I'm creating a new terrain map and there's a "Number of tiles" field which I don't understand. Could anyone explain this? Thanks.

The terrain map can be separated in tiles which can be used for editing the same level with more than one person, you give 2 tiles to someone and the other 2 to you and then join them. Each one has a different terrain material than the others.

Unless you wish to work along with more people or with a very big map you should leave it at 1, I have always worked with one tile and I haven't got any problems.

Thanks for the reply. I have another problem now though. I've added a mountains mesh to the map but it only become viewable when I get in real close to it. I have a feeling it might have something to do with my terrain size which is 1500. How can I have full sight of the mountains even from the center of the map?

Locate the resource of the mesh and right click then copy it, Save your world because REDkit is likely to crash in the process, then paste it in another place, like your mod folder because you will edit its parameters and you wish to keep the source file unedited, then in the folder paste it (REDkit will probably crash) then double click it and search for properties tab then for View distance or something similar and edit it till you get the effect you like, Im not sure its this way, I cant enter the REDkit right now and check but I'll check when I can and make a correction if needed.

Try to keep max tile size to 1024 to avoid odd behaviors then create other tiles for bigger terrain.
