Creative building in games, screenshots and ideas

+
Steam had free demo of Lego Brick Tales available. Some kind of story to go with building and puzzle solving. For progressing the story, you have to build structures that won't break when used and afterwards there is also sandbox mode for more creative versions with more unlimited bricks. So far it seems to be fun. Maybe nothing super amazing, but if you need something simple and fun and like building, you can give it a go.

Are you a Master Builder ? Are you the "Special" ?

Shame... Demo is only available for Windows.... while the game runs on Mac too :(

I really like this latest garden experiment. Too bad it will take ages to build without cheats in normal game. If not even being next to impossible.

Look at that roof. Look at that roof!

It's beautiful. A work of art. It's glorious.

(*Reference Note: I still remember one of the earlier roofs. It could best be described as someone gouging your retina with a pencil tip then jamming a kaleidoscope in your eye. [It didn't leak, though!])

If we are thinking the same roof, it was a different architect back then and built without cheats :D Should I say, it was a piece of *modern art*. Ahem. And yes, indeed, for some very strange reasons, it didn't leak! Too bad it's on the other PC and I can't get a screenshot.

Roofs are way easier to build when you can cheat fly.

Aaaaaand here we go again... After thinking that I had finally done everything in Valheim, I found mods! And installed few that let you ignore few building and planting restrictions. So now I'm able to build inside tombs, caves and whatnots, and also plant lot of new stuff wherever. Yay!

Today's special is cave house. Slight challenge was to find appropriate cave that has small opening in the ceiling (and that being close enough to the entrance because I just liked it that way), so that the smoke can get out. This cavehouse should be somewhat functional even in real game, but haven't tested it so it might have some flaws in it. No garden, though, but everything else should be there. Enemies tend to attack stuff outside, but since the inner cave is basically in different "zone" and not an actual house, your thingies should probably be safe when you are inside the cave (aka out of the area).

I find these mods really cool! where can i download them?

That's just vanilla Valheim in creative mode.
Creative mode lets you spawn/build stuff out of thin air, control time of day/weather, it lets you fly etc, but as far as I know of otherwise you still have to follow the game rules. For example even if you are able to build without actually having the required materials in your inventory and you don't have to have a workbench close by, it still doesn't let you build inside specific areas or create workbench extensions without actual workbench being there first. I'm pretty sure I once tried to put workbench inside a dungeon in creative mode and it didn't let me do that.

I got my mods from Nexus: Plant everything, NoStaminaCost and Build Restriction Tweaks.

Even though creative mode lets you spawn berry bushes and trees too, the placement was never quite accurate and typing the commands takes time. That was the biggest reason for me getting the Plant Everything mod. Build Restriction Tweaks was solely for the purpose of being able to build inside dungeon areas and because I indeed like to build a lot, I also installed that NoStaminaCost. You can more or less customise all of these mods to match your likings.

Anyhoo, here are few new picks of my swamp house with a "basement"! I hid the entrance to the Sunkern Caverns with fireplaces and stairs so that it fits better with other decor. In the actual cavern I limited the space with wooden walls and added some shelves for making it more basementy.

So...creative mode makes you farm and hunt and eat and stuff? Why would all of that still be needed? Seems sort of silly.

But then, you know me well enough. I do all my building legit. I still remember the hours it took to mine all the stone for my "candle" castle thing:

Indeed :D

I just want to build and make experiments. I'm not playing with all these mods and creative modes even if the houses are theoretically functional. It's all just build build build and then to the next build build build... Once the Mistlands patch hits, it's time to put all mods and creatives away and actually start playing again without extra help.

Playing is different thing than just building :D

Yeah -- which is why I'm curious as to why they still make eating and stamina a thing in "Creative Mode". I don't get why that wouldn't be disabled by default.

Since this is not actual vanilla footage but creative mode with few mods again, I'll just put it here instead of actual Valheim thread.

So, I got lucky and found a perfect sized island in the middle of ocean. I was able to cover all of it with buildings and stuff, so that there is no room for "Ground is shaking". So very, very peaceful place out of raid ranges. So far I have seen only handful of Oozers on lighthouse island, which seem to spawn from the water time to time. "Plant everything" mod got updated at some point, so now I was also able to make a little greenhouse and keep my vegetables safe, since open sky is not necessarily required anymore.

This base has been playtested, so it actually works as it should.
