Cross-progression issue on PS5 – Save file transfer between Standard and Complete Edition

+
Hi guys,

I’m having an issue with my Witcher 3 save files on PS5.

I recently finished the base game and wanted to play the DLCs, so I purchased the Complete Edition. I enabled cross-progression, logged into my CD Projekt Red account in both versions, and linked my PSN. However, I cannot load my save from the Standard version in the Complete Edition.

I can see the save file in the menu, but when I click on it, I get a cloud-related error message.

Technical details:

  • Both games were purchased via the PlayStation Store.
  • Both games are updated to version 4.04.
  • Both versions show the cloud icon next to the latest manual and auto-saves.
Is there any solution for this? I’d really like to play the DLCs using my existing progress.

Thank you!

Did you make the save game after enabling cross progression?

Did you follow these steps?

In general you can also use some of the support articles to send a ticket to cdpr support. Or use this link:

@Creasyqt89, hello! This sort of issue tends to appear in certain countries, like Russia or Belarus, due to local regulators' activities and policy affecting our providers' work. If you are located in an area that's not usually affected by this sort of things, can you please reach out to me to clarify that?

I am located in the Czechia.

I am not using any VPN. My console is connected directly to a local internet service provider.

Yes, I have gone through all the steps. I am logged in on both versions and can see the save files on both. I have tried alternating between them and saving multiple times.

I can actually see the save file from the Complete Edition inside the Standard version, but I cannot launch it – which is expected, as I don’t have the DLCs installed there (I just tried it for testing purposes).

However, in the Complete Edition, I CAN see the save file from the Standard version, but it fails to load. It triggers a very long loading screen and then eventually throws a cloud-related error.

I have no idea if Kate (support) did something, but after I got home, I just launched the Complete Edition and tried to load the latest save. Everything is working now. It seems to be fixed. Thank you guys.

Great to hear the situation improved. Could you please share what specific error you got? Since the problem went away on it's own, might be connected to some temporary connectivity issue.

If no one on your end made any changes, then the problem really did resolve itself. I haven't made any adjustments on my side for several days and was hoping for assistance from your support team.

Regarding the error: when I tried to launch the save from the cloud, it would load for a very long time—roughly one or two minutes. After that, I was kicked back to the save game menu with a message stating that the cloud save failed to load. It looked like a connection timeout.

The save file had the cloud icon and even the thumbnail image was visible. My console was connected to the internet the entire time without any outages. I had been trying this for several days, testing different save files each time if the previous one failed to load, but it only started working yesterday.
