Maybe think outside the box. What are the challenges in Spacechem? You said it was similar to programming, in what sense? Decomposing a problem into a series of discrete steps that consistently yield a proven solution?Spacechem might be too much for me. I already looked up a solution for level 13 on youtube, now I can't seem to find a solution for the next level... and I'm supposed to be a far-above-average intelligent person, actually![]()
Kind of that. You need to rearrange Atoms or molecules to new products, often in several reaction steps. For this, you lay routes for your transporters and add certain commands along the path. Then you let it run and see whether it does what you wanted - the problem is not only finding the "right" path and command order (the possibilities are nearly unlimited, whatever works is ok), but also keeping your workers synchronised across one reaction and several reactions (usually only the former is a problem). Otherwise, your seemingly stable process will produce some units of your desired product, but then crashes somewhere along the way after x cycles. This is an especially big challenge, if you need to assemble some compound with an AB[SUB]3[/SUB] composition in one ore more sub-reactions.Maybe think outside the box. What are the challenges in Spacechem? You said it was similar to programming, in what sense? Decomposing a problem into a series of discrete steps that consistently yield a proven solution?

Deep down and dirty.
UnderRail an underground turn-based survival RPG, is now DRM-free on GOG.com with a 10% launch discount.
You shift from leg to leg inside a tattered blanket-coat, struggling to shield yourself from the damp, cold air of the tunnels. The distant ruckus of looters, maliciously picking apart a homeless man's shelter, whispers words of hesitation into your ear. But that girl needed her medicine and, dammit, even if our entire race is nearly extinct, what we stand for must endure. You clench that makeshift shotgun in your radio-blistered hand and march straight ahead.
Do you miss the complex role-playing mechanics and challenging combat of the original Fallouts? UnderRail's got you covered… under tons upon tons of concrete, where life is still somewhat tolerable. Brave the horrors of an unforgiving world and venture through the underground complex of metro stations that the survivors now call home. Craft your own equipment, master turn-based combat and navigate the politics of opposing factions vying for power over those last remaining scraps of civilization.
Do whatever's necessary to survive and explore every dark corner of the UnderRail, available now, DRM-free on GOG.com. Grab your ticket with the 10% launch discount that will last until January 1st, 1:59 PM GMT.

T-Rex cutlets is what's for dinner.
Turok, the remastered fast-paced jurrassic FPS, is available now DRM-free on GOG.com with a 20% launch discount.
Remember when dinosaurs were all the rage and aliens were still scary? Ah, yes, the 90s. What a magical time to be growing up. Imagine a jungle-like land populated with unfriendly aliens. Now throw in some aggressive flora for added inhospitality. Surely, dinosaurs are the next logical addition. No wait, make that dinosaurs with guns. All that's missing now is an angry Native American warrior of time-travelling heritage to clean up the mess and thwart a great evil in the process. There, pure 90s.
Thankfully, Turok is not in the habit of entering such exotic-but-hostile lands unprepared. Strapped across his back are all kinds of devastating weapons, from the not-so-humble bow and knife to handheld instruments of mass destruction like miniguns and rocket-launchers. Plus all the havoc they wreak now looks extra spiffy in this remastered version, thanks to widescreen and high resolutions support, improved level design and fancy lighting effects.
Bring an army of oversized reptiles closer to extinction as the legendary Turok, now DRM-free on GOG.com. The 20% launch discount will last until December 24, 17:59 PM GMT.
Konrad said:Due to changing hands and in-flux legal agreements, we just had to remove Descent 1+2 & Descent 3 + Mercenary from our catalog, effective immediately.

You must gather yourself together before venturing forth.
Darkest Dungeon, a visceral RPG/roguelike about adventuring under stress, is available now DRM-free on GOG.com for Windows and Mac with a 20% launch discount.
You hear scratching coming from the decrepit wall on your left flank. You turn around swiftly, almost grazing your torch against the Plague Doctor's creepy mask. He screams in panic more than anguish, then accuses you of pulling another one of your Jester's pranks on the group. For there is nothing crawling on the wall. In the echoing darkness of these accursed halls, you begin to wonder whether paranoia has finally gripped you too. But there is one thing you feel certain of: you've long lost your appetite for pranks.
Darkest Dungeon is a turn-based roguelike, which blossomed thanks to the overwhelming reception to its crowdfunding campaign. The community's valuable feedback later helped shape some of the design choices implemented in the game.
You pick a customizable band of distressed adventurers and plunge them into the devouring depths of the Darkest Dungeon. Fear, famine, misfortune, and nightmarish monstrosities are waiting there to gnaw at their troubled souls and fatigued bodies, but the promise of riches and your rousing speeches will keep them going. Until their gruesome, permanent death.
Survive the perils and psychological ordeals native to the Darkest Dungeon, DRM-free on GOG.com. And if you wish to drown out the treacherous voices in your head, you can even grab the Darkest Dungeon: Soundtrack Edition. The 20% discount will last until January 26, 5:59 PM GMT.

Excellent hand-picked games, 14-day refund policy, always DRM-free.
We want GOG.com to be the home of games that are both excellent and really worth your time.
In today's gaming world, we're seeing more and more titles that become hits before development dwindles down, we want to give you a way to enjoy what these games have to offer, a way that's comfortable and fair to you — the GOG.com way: that means evaluating each and every game, a 14-day no-questions-asked refund policy, and more.
That's why today, we're introducing the first five games in development:
Starbound (-33%)
Ashes of the Singularity (-25%)
Project Zomboid (-40%)
TerraTech (-30%)
The Curious Expedition (-15%)
The GOG.com way.
First and foremost: we're hand-picking only the games we can truly stand behind. Offering a selection of the most promising titles, and those most highly requested on the Community Wishlist, is our way of avoiding bloat and ensuring that every game will be worth your time.
It takes some confidence to discover games that are still being shaped — and to build that trust, every game in development comes with a simple refund policy: 14 days, no questions asked. It doesn't matter if you're having technical issues, if you don't think the game is sufficiently fleshed out, or if it simply doesn't click with you — all games in development can be returned for any reason within 14 days of purchase.
The GOG Galaxy client should also come in handy for games in development. It lets you control updates manually if you want, while the rollback feature allows you to easily restore any earlier version of your game if an update breaks something or makes unwanted changes. In games for development, rollback will also track and create historical snapshots throughout a game's development. That means you can always revisit any point in a game's history — for fun, or for science.
It's your call.
For those of you who prefer to wait for the final release, nothing will change. Once a game leaves active development, we will be making the announcement and giving the newest release proper exposure. Basically, business as usual.
More info.
Surely you have questions. You'll find many of the answers in the games in development FAQ, including more details on the new refund policy. Our User Agreement has also been expanded to accommodate games in development — check out sections 6.12, 6.13, and 6.14 to find all the new information.
Enjoy your time with games in development!

The free Shadwen Demo, where you can try out your silent killing techniques in a bleak medieval environment, is now available for Windows, Mac, and Linux, DRM-free on GOG.com.
Time stands still, as Shadwen lurks behind a dark corner, wishing that the littlegirl cowering beside her didn't have to witness the brutal scene that is about to unfold. But maybe she won't. Perhaps there is another way to get past these guards, climb on that scaffold and continue on her mission to assassinate the king. Before you take any action time stands still, allowing you to change plans on the spot and even rewind failed attempts. Killing might not be necessary, as long as Shadwen manages to stay hidden.
In anticipation of the stealth-action game, where you move freely among the shadows of a gritty medieval setting, developers Frozenbyte are releasing the Shadwen Demo and GOG.com is jumping in on the action! You will have the opportunity to sample Shadwen's light-footed scaling and stealth-assassination mechanics in a fully-playable area of the game and win awesome prizes in the process. The demo will be available on our store between February 24th and February 29th but, once added, you will be able to access it from your GOG.com library forever. All individual scores of those playing the demo will contribute to a global community score; the higher the global tally, the lower Shadwen's launch price will be. Head here for more details.
GOG.com CONTEST
We decided to do something extra for all the GOGers out there who want to try the free demo, so we are launching our own parallel contest where you must lunge #fromtheshadows for a chance to win awesome Shadwen swag!
The basics:
—Grab the Shadwen Demo and reach the end of the level without raising alarms, suspicions, or your blade against the guards. Staying hidden earns you more points.
—Screenshot the stat screen: Complete the demo level scoring as many points as you can, then post the image(s) below or tweet them at twitter/GOGcom with the "#fromtheshadows @GOGcom" tags.
—Grab sweet swag: The 10 highest-scoring assassins will get a Shadwen t-shirt and a free copy of Shadwen, courtesy of Frozenbyte. In case more than 10 entries are tied for the top spots, winners will enter a raffle.
So put on your soft leather gloves, don your darkness-colored robes, and exercise your rope-throwing: unsung glory and awesome prizes await!
The event will last until February 29th. Winners will be announced in the forums soon afterwards.

There is no time like bullet time.
SUPERHOT, an intense tactical FPS where you gracefully pirouette inside a hailstorm of flying bullets, is available now, DRM-free on GOG.com. Mac, and Linux versions will be added soon.
Watching your dancer neighbour tending her garden in yoga pants? Hot. Trying to get your lasagna out of the oven right after it's done? Very hot. Slaying scores of enemies while dodging a torrent of bullets in slow-motion? SUPERHOT.
Your enemies outnumber you, they have better guns, and they are expecting you. But you have the advantage. Time is on your side - the world stands still when you stand still and moves along with your movements. Slice, punch, and blast your aggressive, glass-mannequinesque enemies using perfect timing, clever positioning, and their own weapons against them. The clean, minimalistic visuals will help you concentrate on this carefully choreographed ballet of brutality and make the most out of your ability to pause and resume the flow of time. Things will get SUPERHOT but keep a cool head and everything will be cool. Especially your cool killing moves.
Step out of the FPS paradigm in slow-motion and engage in surgically executed combat while feeling SUPERHOT, DRM-free on GOG.com.
Ah, that's interesting. I've heard about it before, but it looked like it's going to be some PS4 exclusive or something. Good to see them planning to release it on GOG. Unfortunately they don't say anything about Linux release of the game. Not really interested in it, but No Man's Sky getting what looks like a day one release on gog.com is a considerable step forward.

gog.com/news/release_dying_light_the_following_enhanced_editionRelease: Dying Light: The Following - Enhanced Edition
![]()
Brawn, brains, persistent blood stains.
Dying Light: The Following - Enhanced Edition, the definitive package for the open-world, free-running zombie survival sensation, is now available DRM-free on GOG.com with GOG Galaxy support for multiplayer, achievements and leaderboards, and a 17% launch discount.
As the light is dying, so are your chances of survival. A mysterious outbreak has turned the entire population into running, flesh-eating killers who grow severely more aggressive at night. You are also a runner by nature, a parkour instructor on a mission to retrieve some sensitive documents from the hopelessly infested city of Harran. Some people speak of a cure, some worship an aloof, self-proclaimed savior, and others fight each other for supplies or territory control. But all of them have one thing in common: they are constantly on the run.
Master the flow of your swift parkour moves and your weapon-wielding skills in order to stay alive. During the day the infected are less energetic, relying on their numbers to gang-up on you before you can scale the nearby building, overrun them with a buggy, or club them to death with your makeshift destructible weapons. But when darkness falls, the tables are turned: your enemies grow stronger, bolder, and terrifyingly more agile while unspeakable horrors crawl out of their daytime hibernation. Don't get followed or you may not live to see daybreak ever again.
Outmaneuver the flesh-eating hordes and escape your nocturnal pursuers before the Dying Light: The Following - Enhanced Edition wanes completely, DRM-free on GOG.com. The 17% launch discount will last until March 23, 1:59 PM GMT.
