Cyberpunk 2020 VS Cyberpunk RED | For Lore

What book is better in terms of lore. Im looking over the RED pdf and it seems like theres ALOT of lore in this. Im not getting these to play table top im getting them further study the lore of Cyberpunk. Which one should I get? I cant just get both because im not rich lol. in time I can get both but for now I need to get 1. is RED a combination of 2020 and new? is RED after the 2020 lore? Im just confused whats the difference between the 2.

Each edition (and the video game) represent a specific time period in the "cyberpunk time line" (2013-2077)

- Cyberpunk (first edition) > 2013
- Cyberpunk 2020 > 2020
- Cyberpunk v3.0 > 2030
- Cyberpunk Red > 2045
---------
- Cyberpunk Edgerunner (serie) > 2076
- Cyberpunk 2077 > 2077

So hard to say which one is "better" because each edition add more to the previous one.

Like @LeKill3rFou pointed out, it's largely just different timelines within the last 100 years of the Cyberpunk universe.

I'm not a tabletop player either but I did dig deeper into the lore. From what I've gathered, Red seems to be more game focused whereas the older books had more lore.

With that said, a lot of that olden time lore is either already in the game or has essentially been removed from Red.

All in all, if you absolutely want to get one of the books, I'd say get Red. Or use Google. You can find all the lore right there. From wikipedia pages to entire forums discussing the intricacies of the lore and various theories.

so RED it is I have the 2020 base guide thing that came with the game the original game guide....I want something tangible that i can hold and take with me wherever. im sick of looking at screens, touching screens, staring at bright light, etc when it comes to reading lore.
