Cyberpunk 2020??

Cyberpunk first and foremost is a genre of science fiction, rooted in the 70s developing scifi authors and finally defined by William Gibsons first novel "Neuromancer" in 1984. This stuff is OLD and has a lot of history and culture related to it. It is not just some world and lore that CDPR created or a single PnP game from the 80s.

You will find familiar names like Judge Dredd in there.

On a related note, it is kinda interesting that Pondsmith (the creator of the original PnP cyberpunk) is so adamant that he never read Gibsons Neuromancer and based the game more on Blade Runner and Hardwired (another cyberpunk novel published a few years after Neuromancer). Just started to re-read Neuromancer after like 20 years and it has it all: Voodoo, a city called Night City... Find it really hard to believe that the first ever novel naming these iconic settings was NOT the inspiration for Pondsmith

And let's not forget about GURPS Cyberpunk. The only game ever to have been seized by the Secret Service. They thought it was legit instructional material on hacking and phreaking. Dumbasses.
Steve Jackson Games never did get all their equipment back. The SS seized EVERYTHING electronic, including FAX machines, printers, copiers, answering machines .... They also lost a whole bunch of work on the game and had to redo it. They had to sue the government to get back what they did.
I very much like the GURPS system.

Miss playing CP2020. Not missing all of my characters dying to headshots, GM's dice hated techies apparantly.

Cybergeneration was interesting. Was a nice different take on "superpowers".

after taking a look at netrunning in CP RED, netrunning is waaaaaaaaay more user friendly and had a total overhaul, might have to incorporate that into 2020
