SiriusFun, I just want to point out a few things here in regards to your suggestion with the Ultimate Edition and the notion of "screwing players over".
We'll first get out of the way the fact that CDPR handed out vouchers to people who did not refund their launch games (on console specifically) for the next gen console versions at 0% charge. This means they'd have a copy that is properly updated and capable of not only running Phantom Liberty, but also access to all of the latest patches leading up to the most recent patch 2.31. Essentially, the Ultimate Edition. Freebies included btw.
Anyone who wanted their money back, got their money back - no questions asked. This was a step in the right direction.
On PC however, you had the choice as a responsible consumer to either get your refund in full or hold on to the game in good faith and wait for CDPR to deliver patch fixes which eventually led to the successful Edgerunners update, patch 2.0 and the release of the Phantom Liberty expansion.
(which everyone had to buy separately, whether on PC or console)
How CDPR handled this situation, is actually above and beyond expectations from the norm.
You're not actually suggesting they give away free copies of the Ultimate Edition to those who bought the launch version on PC (with all the proper patches made for it) as well as Phantom Liberty, are you? I don't see the logic here.
I got the game separately before I purchased Phantom Liberty
(at full price mind you).
I hardly feel screwed over, nor do I wish to own the arbitrarily named "Ultimate Edition", since I essentially have the exact same core files on my computer today. Comes with the same exact freebies too.
The only difference being the title "Ultimate Edition". haha.
On Steam, I can easily edit my game library splash and library thumbnail to say "Ultimate Edition".
If we dive into it further, I think we can also understand why CD eventually chose to create a package deal for both games and title it as "Ultimate Edition". It's marketing 101 for new players and it is attractive, especially when the set goes on sale. One click for buy it now, gets you everything, rather than two separate clicks.
Do you own Phantom Liberty along your base game copy?
I'm really trying to understand what you're suggesting here. No hostility towards you, I assure.
As far as the deal with AMD technology, it would be nice if support was improved upon and it is slowly rolling out. But I understand that the reality is that CDPR and Nvidia have been collaborating closely for some time now and I can only assume this is what's stifling any AMD related support from coming at a rapid pace.
I agree with keeping their focus independent. That's why CDPR shines the way they do. They have a wonderful style and they seem to like being independant style creators. My faith in them remains strong.
