Cyberpunk isn't exactly trending right now. There are waves as which certain things appear in media; fantasy, witches, vampires, werewolves, space, future, cyberpunk, alien invasions, and so on. If you look at movies, you may find that quite often similar movies follow each other quite rapidly.
There are a lot of themes popular right now... Fantasy has been done to death with LotR, and then with Harry Potter, although I cringe when I call it fantasy, because it is not. We've had folk tales, we've had a lot (perhaps too much) of vampires, some werewolves, and a bit of zombies. Those have been the prevailing popular themes for a bit now. Then, of course, you've got your superhero movies, which keep popping up, and then of course existing franchises come out with sequels. Alternate universes was a theme with two movies a while back, both of which had like another Earth kind of a thing. Speaking of which, Kirsten Dunst is making yet another alternate universe flick. How awesome.
Cyberpunk hasn't been very hot lately, though. I can't think of a single TV series that would be Cyberpunk, or really even very many movies made lately, that would be Cyberpunk either. I mean, we had Total Recall, but it was a remake, and cyberware didn't play a part in it. Dredd was towards that, but it was a superhero movie or a comic book movie.
Sure, those are all TV series and movies, not games... But that's mainstream for you.
Things can change, and perhaps scifi and Cyberpunk will be popular in a couple years. Hopefully popular enough to make sure it's a hit. Then again, first it'll have to be worthy of being a hit.
