I am glad that I won't be playing it in Japan or any such country. Can't wait for November 19, 2020.

Wiki would say it better than I would.

In other words; it's complicated. In Japanese pornography, you can show the breasts, anus, pubic hair, etc, but not a penis or graphic shots of a vagina. They are, technically, completely nude, just censored in specific places. You can still see full frontal nudity in some Japanese movies, usually women, but only because it's easier to hide that sensitive place on a woman with hair or a merkin. Men don't have the same luxury, but there are instances where it was allowed... it really just comes down to Japan being really picky about what is decent and what isn't, or if something is considered artistic and not pornographic. The general rule is that the more graphic it is, the more likely it's going to be censored, and we know 2077 allows full customization of those particular features in the game, so it was a foregone conclusion at that point.

Interesting. Thank you, your comment was educational! I'm very glad that I (to the best of my knowledge) will be playing the least censored version in the world. I am grateful for that. I truly enjoy a good experience without censorship.

I'm from Estonia so I presume there wont be any censoring here either which is great. Sad for people who live in countries that are so fidgety about these things. :/

You can import a physical copy from overseas or buy a game key from a reseller. Just make sure the key can be activated in Japan or use a VPN to... you know.

Pre-orders are pretty pointless when you do not get anything extra or when it's not an exclusive limited edition. Also, getting the digital version is probably easier and cheaper. Plus, the boxed version doesn't give you anything extra besides a box.
Either way, you can still pre-order the international version.

On a side note, I actually do not know how the censored version is being handled. Do resellers get the Japanese version which is locked or do they get an international version which works everywhere but, depending on your account's locale, it switches to the local (censored) version. Either way, it's easy to circumvent, but you'll have to double-check first.

Considering how mad they can be in Japan I am slightly surprised at this. But, yeh they do seem to have an issue with the wobbly bits.

In what versions specifically is the censorship present? For example in the PC version, if you download it in the US and set the language to Japanese will it be censored? Conversely, what if you download it in Japan and set the language to English? Thanks! -Tyler

This comes to a shock to me, as the Australian version will not be censored, given their history on video games as a whole. What's really weird is that many Japanese games, have a ton of nudity, but some how nudity in Cyberpunk 2077 is not allowed in Japan? Honestly I'm confused by this.

I could definitely be wrong, but I've heard rumors that Japan has started censoring western games in retaliation for all the censorship of Japanese eroge / hentai games and backlash towards them in the west from those cancel-culture types that engage in politically-motivated games "journalism".

To play devil's advocate, this probably isn't that big a deal.

They removed some graffiti, some of the more extreme gore, and nerfed the character customization - the ability to tweak your private bits can be considered a tad excessive.

Everything else will probably remain intact - sexy stuff will just have tweaked camera angles to avoid showing (or in the worst case filters over) the naughty bits.

If that's the case, then it's just a pissing contest at this point to see who can censor the most in one game. Sony, even though it's Japanese, is censoring stuff in the west, yet Nintendo stated that they will not do any of that. So there is some hope out there.

I mean, just look at this for example. Image
