But the thing that bothers me to no end is the purported FPS combat and the lack of explanation on the character systems and their impact to the game. How the character systems work through gameplay is my chief concern and hope for the whole game as they are the all encompassing guidelines that dictate how the package as a whole feels. For example, Dying Light 2 promises lots of reactivity, which is really good, but I can't get interested - like at all - in parkour zombie bashing for the main draw and activity of the game.
I don't think it'll be the main draw, but I'm afraid it'll be a major activity.
Admittedly it would be hard as hell to incorporate many of the skills from CP2020 into a video game, so trimming the fat was to be expected.
But at this point it
seems it's been trimmed to:
1) Character stats (6) which can be raised more easily then then they could in CP2020
2) A "skill tree" with a single branch for each major role (Solo, Techie, Hacker)
3) Cyberware that gives you "special abilities" mostly centered around combat (seeing opponents thru walls and their "level")
4) Several varieties of firearms each with a unique mechanic
5) Clothing/Armor that boosts stats and/or "reputation" (Street Cred) in addition to providing armor
6) Speed healing (inhalers)
I don't think I need to say what this sounds suspiciously like.
YES, there will be CDPR style quests, story, and interactions in addition to the standard FPS fare and they'll be an important part of the game. But a good part of what makes CP2020 what it is it's consequences. OK, there are consequences for how you deal with people during quests, but combat? I don't see any, blaze away with every expectation you'll complete the game with a kill count that would make a "Doom" player envious.
