Cyberpunk 2077 Lost 79% of its Players in the First Month

I don't think it lost the players, I think those players like myself are waiting for the game to get patched so we can complete a playthrough. In the meantime all we can do is watch the demo gameplay reveal they released 2 years ago and dream of THAT game

I think it just found its right player base. Players who expected a fast FPS, a GTA like game or whatever expectations they had are gone. Remains people who enjoy the game for what it is - which is a good thing.

Same happens with overhyped games. I remember with Baldur's Gate 3, tons of people who didn't even play the first 2 or didn't even like the genre came in just because their favorite streamer told them about the game and it was what everyone talked about when early access launched. Then they left because the game wasn't for them (after crying of course).

Now the swarm of locusts is going to another game, and so on.

I mean i get carried away by my hate as well. Both blind love and blind hatred is bad.
And i really do understand what you say with people giving only bad criticism.
Not everything about this game is bad. The graphics are really good for example. The characters are very good (i mean they would have been even better if they didnt kill off every character after 3 missions... which is again a very bad thing.).
Except Johnny Silverhand.. i just cant stand him. (probably because V is just a side character because of him.)
But theres just too many bad things in my opinion.

- Missions feel so.. short and empty.
- We were supposed to feel attached to Jackie, but when he died after 3 missions i was like.. what do they want me to feel now? i barely know this guy..
- Evelyn on the other hand i was very angry that they just offed her the way they did and given her almost no impact on the game.
- Cut content in both characters very visible.
- You can have so many cars but you dont even have a garage.. like wtf? where do all these cars park?
- which brings me to -> no apartments to buy. same apartment, no matter how much money you make.
- dont get my started on physics of this game..
- cut content like train station and many more.
- AI? yeah right..
- what to do after missions? screenshot simulator
- no interaction with the world. ( cant go on a date, cant go to a strip club or casino, cant go sit somewhere and eat something. i once drove to the badlands and tried to interact with the world somehow, playing a bit RP. Let me tell you that it didnt went well, because you cant do anything except taking screenshots..
- choices do not matter except for the last mission and some side quest that have nothing to do with the main mission and no impact on the world.
- Gangs? play no role in this game. cant even interact with them.
- Cyberpsychos? no conclusion. (get ready to pay for dlc..)

And what i wrote here was just fast what i remember as of now. Theres a lot more whats wrong with the game.
Now that ive told you whats wrong, you should be able to understand why i do have this anger. Its not just that i paid 60€ for this.. but also the fact that CDPR did lie a lot and hid things here and there.

Imagine you go buy a car and half of what you bought is missing or not functioning. Then you see some stuff they tried to implement into the car and thought we just leave it like this and cut it out. So i have cables hanging everywhere for no reason.
This game is a product, just like a car is a product. CDPR is a company just like the ones who produce cars.
If this happenend with a car, the outrage would be incredible.
Nothing different is happening here, accept for some people here on this forum to say "we should relax and wait it out."
If you told that to a person that bought a car and was deceived the way we were, they would go mad crazy.
they wouldnt wait 2 years to get what they bought for.

I hope you can at least understand why others and me are angry.
I agree with you
it may be interesting what they say here :

I've seen this argument multiple times by now and I always have to ask myself how people perceive the game to be complex. CP'77 is much more of an Action-Adventure/Looter-Shooter hybrid than it is an actual RPG. In fact, the RPG-aspects of the game are rather weak - especially if you compare CP'77 to old-school RPGs. In that regard, I dare say that CP'77 is actually quite easy.

The problem with CP'77 is the already mentioned short story and the lack of replayability. That's no surprise though since the current version of CP'77 is an Alpha-build at best. At least the latest alleged leak seems to be quite authetic to me and according to that leak, CDPR cut at least half of the games content - story included (we were allegedly supposed to have 5 acts instead of 3).

If you read the article, you will get the point. It's quite interesting because this fast drop in players has reasons, which are in my opinion obvious if you play the game: a.) the game can be quite short if you focus on the main story, b.) players are losing their interest very fast (because of bugs, or because the game is not what was promised) or/and c.) the game has no replayability.

I mean for me it has no replayability what so ever. Life choices have little to no impact on anything as I can tell in the story or to you in NC. I honestly played corpo and street and its its just dialogue options are different. I have no reason to do a Nomad run except for like a 5 minute play through to go through the fast forward 6 months later.

Yeah there's definitely people who expected GTA and went through a lot of disappointment.

I also think hating on things has become like a global sport or something. Look at what happened with Mass Effect Andromeda, Anthem, The Last of Us 2. The hate for those games on it's own had become a form of entertainment. Like clearly some of those games had big problems, heck Anthem was a complete scam, but it's still unhealthy the lengths people will go to stoke the fires of hate. It's unhealthy because the people spending the most time hating on these games aren't even playing them. They will justify their behavior by saying they're giving feedback, but in reality they have an unhealthy obsession and can't move on.

There's also so much herd mentality going on it's crazy, to the point people aren't even thinking for themselves. They've read some talking points like "V is a side character to Johnny"(which is completely false) and they're regurgitating them. People no longer spend the time to even make their own opinions. They watch some click bait youtuber tell them what to think and if the youtuber sounds like something they will agree with they go with that.

So?

I'm sure games like Skyrim lost a majority of its playerbase in the first month too. This isn't an MMO. This is a game that the modding community will keep alive for years and years, regardless of whether or not CDPR supports mods.

Indeed. There is a near identical thread for every game a month after launch. Only huge MP games keep player count at a high level.

It depends if cdpr would give us good moding tools. I would love to see something similar to skyrim lvl.

So people who critisize have not bought or play the game.

Q: Who are these people?

Q: How do you know?

Proof for your claims please.
Show us the evidence.

I have critizised the game.
Q: Am I included in this category of people you spoke about?
youtube is full. The bugs are giving a lot of play

I also wonder how they were recording this.

I play 2-3 hours a night because I wanted to extend the game for as long as possible.

It's hard to find any redeeming qualities at this point.

Cyberware and most hacks don't work on Xbox.

The article is funny though. Didn't they get the memo that multi-player is a separate release?

I was watching my ending for the Aldecados today and V was missing his head.

It's a single player game with no end game content so what to expect? After 90 hours, with all stats maxed, due to no real changes in the story depended on choices, I see no point in re-playing it .
It's really that bad? I replayed Gothic 2 Notr, K.O.T.O.R, Dragon Age Origins, Witcher 3, Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines like 3-5 times each. All singleplayer games.
