Cyberpunk 2077 — Our Commitment to Quality

+
Finally, I'm glad we have a roadmap.
We all appreciate all ypur hardwork so far: even with all its flaws, I have never lost faith in your game's potential.

That said, there's a lot of stuff to do, before we can finally say that the game is complete

First, obviously, the game must be optimized and fixed, and you're already working on it, so goid job 👍🏻 (don't forget about the AI !)

But after this major issue has been solved, I'd very like to see the cut content come back: apart from customization, and open world features (sitting on benches, animations for food, minigames, ecc...), which, in my opinion, are secondary, it would be nice if you could do what you can to improve the overall depth of the player choices, and some other tweaks to the gameplay.

I'm not illuding myself: I'm pretty sure you won't be able to hire voice actors and models, especially Reeves for a second round of mocapping, but maybe there's something you can do, by adding more, different approaches, removing some fridges from the stealth sections (if I can easily dispatch every guard's body with a bos just a few steps away, stealth becomes less juicy than what it can actually be: give us more spicy scenarios, a more intelligent AI, if you can.)
We would like to see more cyberware available, and, if possible, a rework of the skill tree, with a bit more "active abilities", such as new moves with melee weapons, parkour stunts to increase mobility, of new ways of using certain equipment; for instance: the nanowire could be used as a lazo or, even better, it could be used for hacking, like you showed us in the demos. For this last part, you could also overhaul the havking system: instead of the current "full-wireless" version, you could make the breach protocol available only by direct jack in, both on an enemy or a terminal (you could add an actuve ability to tackle an enemy and automatically jack in his cranium and accessing the minigame, and then, if enough points are spent on the hacking skill tree, the breach protocol could become available without a direct link, allowing for the current hacking system which, in all honesty, also needs a rebalancing.)

Tech weapons DEFINITELY need a nerf: right now, apart from damage, I don't see why would I choose a power weapon or a smart weapon over a rifle that allows me to shoot through an entire palace!

Wall climbing would be a nice addition, but you already told us it wouldn't have been in the game, so it is not a priority.

In summary, please: in this forum there are lots of threads full of actually good suggestions to improve the game even at its core, so have a look at them, and do what you feel right.

But most importantly: of all the content you promised us, we definitely need a FULL MODDING SUPPORT
What you'll not be abke to implement in the game, the modding community will do, but it needs the keys: and that's something you most certainly can make come true.

Thanks for your patience, good work and good luck.

Well, you, CDPR guys, talked a lot before release too. And we all see now what your words weight in the end. All that media hype was for for what? To fart in a puddle and betray trust of your players? To throw in a junk all that good reputation you gained with Witcher?

Add all cut content and promised features back, fix that dumpsterfire AI, make game meet listed system requirements.

Until that - this halfassed shell-of-a-game was my last purchase from lying studio.

Night City is astonishing and the whole aesthethic is just something else. The lack of interactivity is such a huge issue, and it still somehow manages to get one immersed.
The bugs are to be fixed, but the missing content, all the problems with the plot?

And the worst thing (for me) is that the game made me think "wish I could be a straight guy, it'd be so much more fun" and of all things, I didn't expect Cyberpunk to make me feel this way. Jeez, I expected quite the opposite.

Besides the fact that it's just weird that there are only 4 romance options (during the playthrough restricted to two, or well, basically one), I love how Panam and Judy were created and introduced. Early in the story, taking part in the main quests, having real impact. But that's it... I mean, Panam gets her own ending, and maybe arguably, but still, the best ending for many (me included). Comparing Panam and Judy to the two other romance routes? I'm just so shocked by these discrepancies.
Not to mention additional scenes with Alt, Rogue, Meredith...

And with all the endings being bittersweet at most, for me, there's no way for any satisfaction in the end, like, where's all the fun...

I got so into the game (even without the cutscenes, which I didn't think would be possible) and then just got disappointed. I mean, so, sooo disappointed..

What's with that "no happy endings" thing lately, uh... Just one ending not to leave the player THAT depressed in the end would do.

Well, I play PC version, so the bugs are there, but even with the funny physics it's allright. It's just a crying shame that in the end, there is so little content and some wirting choices just left me dumbfounded. The unused potential is killing.

Want to believe that there's something coming that will make up for it, but it just seems so naive right now... Well, yeah, a crying shame.

FAQ

Q: Why is there such a gap between PC versions of Cyberpunk 2077 and old-gen consoles?

A
: Cyberpunk 2077 is huge in scope, it features a multitude of custom objects, interacting systems and mechanics. In the game, everything is not stretched out over flat terrain where we can make things less taxing hardware-wise, but condensed in one big city and in a relatively loading-free environment. We made it even more difficult for ourselves by first wanting to make the game look epic on PCs and then adjusting it to consoles — especially old-gens. That was our core assumption. And things did not look super difficult at first, while we knew the hardware gap, ultimately, time has proven that we've underestimated the task.

Q: What was the main issue that made development for consoles that difficult?

A
: The main culprit was having to constantly improve our in-game streaming system for old-gen consoles. Streaming is responsible for “feeding” the engine with what you see on screen, as well as the game mechanics. Since the city is so packed and the disk bandwidth of old-gen consoles is what it is, this is something that constantly challenged us.

Q: Didn’t you test old-gen consoles to keep tabs on the experience?

A:
We did. As it turned out, our testing did not show many of the issues you experienced while playing the game. As we got closer to launch, we saw significant improvements each and every day, and we really believed we’d deliver in the final day zero update.

Q: Why was there a gap between PC and console reviews?

A:
We started sending out PC review keys to start the review process in the first week of December. Come December 10th, launch day, we had a really good start with PC reviews, and while it’s not perfect, this is a version of the game we were, and still are, very proud of. When it comes to the review process for consoles, at the same time PC codes were sent out we were still working hard to improve the quality of the game on old-gen consoles. Every extra day that we worked on the day zero update brought visible improvement — that’s why we started sending console codes for reviews on the 8th December, which was later than we had planned.

Q: What have you done since launch to make the game better?

A:
Our top priority since launch has been to fix bugs in Cyberpunk 2077. We have already released three hotfixes which have improved the game, but these are just the beginning.

Q: What are you going to do going forward to fix Cyberpunk 2077?

A:
We are focused on fixing the bugs and crashes players are experiencing across every platform. You can expect more in the way of patches — both small and large — to be released regularly. The first update will drop in the next 10 days, and it will be followed by a larger, more significant update, in the weeks after. Our plans for supporting Cyberpunk 2077 in the long-term are unchanged, and we will continue to introduce updates and patches to give all players across all consoles and PCs a better experience with the game.

Q: You have said there would be free DLC for the game in ‘early 2021’, will this be impacted by improvements?

A:
We’re still planning on releasing free DLC for the game, just like with The Witcher 3. However, we have decided that our priority is working on the most important fixes and updates. We will be releasing free DLC afterwards — we’ll have more to say about that in the coming months.

Q: When can we expect the next-gen update for Cyberpunk 2077?

A:
For those who are playing the game on next-gen consoles via backwards compatibility, we are planning the free, next-gen update for Cyberpunk 2077 on Xbox Series consoles, and PlayStation 5, this year. We’re aiming for the second half of the year and we’ll reveal more when we have more to share.

Q: Are you making the team crunch to work on the patches?

A:
The team is working to bring relevant fixes to the game without any obligatory overtime. Avoiding crunch on all of our future projects is one of our top priorities.

Q: When is the game coming back to PlayStation Store?

A:
We are working on fixes and updates, and are working with Sony to bring Cyberpunk 2077 back to PlayStation Store as soon as possible.

Q: What is the status of the Help Me Refund initiative?

A:
The initiative is progressing according to plan and we just sent out the first wave of reimbursements.

I'm showing my commitment by retaining my purchase on PS4, in preparation for which I installed an SSD.

I also play on Stadia since my neighbour who is like a brother to me has made sufficient progress on the PS4 version.

Later this year we'll move on to PS5 but I must say, the experience on Stadia and total cost of Stadia and the game has myself and a few friends loving what has been achieved this far.

We look forward to the updates and DLC's, have never doubted you based on the opinions of others and hope CDPR will regain it's image as it was after The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt, and better henceforth.

Take care, we love you, and respect your efforts.

To every one that wishes for the implementation of former, so called, cut content within the next DLCs. Please be advised CDPR already posted an official statement that basically says "all about cut content is simply not true". So how do you suppose them to add this content without admitting that was a lie? You can wish but do not expect too much.

Well we will see how committed they are to restoring the game to what they assume they promised and of course recovering their reputation.

Every social media including this one is bringing up the issues beyond bugs and glitches.
And these are not isolated comments or downvoted.

These are the prime and popular opinion.

The ball is in CDPR's court now.

Will they resort to corpo behavior again and pretend there was nothing wrong besides a few glitches or there are more concerns to address.

Time will tell.

So... you realise that they could have been saying they are aware of all of them, at the time of writing that. Which would have been AFTER the game came out, because people REPORT BUGS. During development, they don't have customers playing the game do they? So their testing might not have encountered every single bug, genius.

That's pretty easy to figure out. Are you one of those people that misinterpreted the handmade NPC statement too?
And you have to be super naïve to think that they did not know about the state of the game on release.
They have a TEAM of testers. Not just one or two ppl. A TEAM. And you are telling me that no one, not a single person from that team have had issues with running the game on PS4? This is total and utter BS.
They knew the game was broken and released it no matter that.

They knew about the non existent AI, and the lack of content.

they keep omitting facts :/
no mention of the the enormous amount of missing promised content
the crazy AI, How is it possible that they would not notice it with a tester dedicating 200 hours to it
the whole progression system is unbalanced

Once the AI is fixed and the bugs smoothed out it will be awesome. I have mixed feelings about the console release.. Luckily I played on PC so it's been relatively smooth for the most part. I am glad they developed it for PC and scaled it down. Honestly one of the most beautiful (but graphically intensive) games I've played yet. It might've been smarter to delay the console versions a bit to improve on it to be honest.. I'm glad they are committed to working on it though.

I think they knew about it but it also sounds that just getting it to technically work on the old gen consoles was what took most time, and since that was the focus stuff like role-play, ai, balance, interactivity was an afterthought when the principle problem was having a "load-free" environment on the older consoles.

The AI isn't malfunctioning, it's just not in the game, bugs are unintentional consequences when something isn't handled correctly.
Even the T-Posing isn't a "bug" it happens when the AI threads can't finish in time.

The AI is just poorly designed because CDPR either didn't know how to design it, or didn't had enough time to design it or likely a combination of both.

This is why pedestrians just walk the same 150m or so up and down their fixed paths, this is why the police teleports to your location from no where and why there are no real random events.

Heck even the "blue star" events aren't random, and oddly enough they don't even only include the police they can be rival gangs, corporation or police fighting gangs or each other these all have fixed spawning points it's not like you have a police patrol that encounters a group of gang members and then there's some X chance of a firefight no these will spawn when the world is created initially and they are so silly that they'll last for ages until the player gets close to them because the NPCs are immune until then this is why quite often you can come to the same spot and the same shit is still going on and why in rare cases the NPCs will appear to not be taking any damage from bullets - it's because they can't they are supposed to be "immortal" until you decide to interact with them

Every core system in the game is plagued with "lazy" design choices that amount to it being nothing more than a place holder that would've been acceptable in a game 2 years prior to it's launch but not on launch day.

I am pretty sure these problems are 90%-100% "didn't had enough time to design it" and the remaining 10% could be figured out with problem solving skills, which I confident the devs have.

I agree with you that things aren't what they should be but let's be realistic here. The devs don't have authority/power in the company. They don't set the deadlines, it's their job to try to get something out for the deadlines.

Add to time will tell, this video message and the roadmap. Nothing mentiones missing content or the future addition of cut content. I am just realistic here.

I believe CDPR wants to make things right according to what they think is wrong but I worry what CDPR thinks is wrong is bugs and glitches, performance issues etc or at least that's what they're willing to acknowledge. Everyone deserves a shot at redemption, even multiple shots so long as redemption is truly desired and I look forward to seeing how it goes. I just hope CDPR realizes that bugs and glitches fiasco has been been a smoke screen hiding much more sever problems and I hope those problems are addressed.

Good luck.

Okay...we can live with the idea that bugs are a thing on big projects...but we will receive the game advertised? All the cut contents? Choices that matters? Most believable crowd in games up to date? Those thing that make this game a hype...

This is what I've been telling everyone, but no one listens! I'm hopeful that they would add what we want. But the game is done in their eyes, they are going to fix it and make sure it gets on the PS store and then I think they will comment on what the DLCs are looking like. I still hope/want the romance stuff to have more depth or more content added. But I guess we'll see. I won't be preordering for another 10 years. this was my 1st preorder in like forever. lol

Honestly, I think the missing content element is made of fan assumptions. They read comments like, "Life paths will include multiple endings and you'll be able to change Life Path from Corpo to Nomad" and don't realize that Panam is the Nomad ending.

I'd rather have New Game+ than a train ride around the city looking at things.

Check the very first post I made on this thread on this thread.

I am not getting fooled with generalized terms like "improvements".

I am assuming nothing. The good will I have had for this company has been completely shattered.

I mentioned what I hope of what they mean by improvements.
Anything short of those hopes will be a disappointment in both CDPR as a company and this game.

Until then, I will do other things. If all else fails... well at least there is still Baldurs Gate 3.

Cyberpunk still has awesome potential to be the best game of this gen.. I will not refund it but I will not play it yet, either. It looks great and runs like hot butter with my 3090, but I will wait for a couple of major patches before I start.
