If you enjoy using a DS4 controller, Cyberpunk (GOG Galaxy version) natively supports the controller.

IMPORTANT: For anyone using Inputmapper it causes controller conflicts, switches between DS4 and XBOX prompts and causes flatlining. I removed Inputmapper and after testing, no more flatlining.

Secondly CDPR recently advised about crashes using Windows 10 below version 1909, I use 20H2 and have had no flatlining issues with this OS version. Previously as mentioned Inputmapper caused the flatlining to occur.

I hope others will find this information useful with your troubleshooting.

2 days after I purchased Cyberpunk 2077 my game crashed and now no longer works. When I launch the game it starts out fine for 5 seconds then I get a Flatline error. I have sent in multiple reports as well daily. The issue is not my drivers, the game files, my pc, or my lack of trying to fix it. I have done everything under the sun and nothing works. I run the game threw Steam and I have been threw the game properties too. I am using a i7 9700 processor, 16GB of ram, and a NVIDIA 1660TI graphics card just to name my biggest components. I have tried to reach out to the Developers on multiple sites and no one got back to me meaning they don't have any information or intend on fixing the bug anytime soon. This game was a huge flop and waste of my time and money.

Just pointing this one out.

It's something I noticed too : most of my crashes happen during a dialogue - the "big" dialogues where your attention is forced toward whoever you're talking too. It crashed when I talked with Jackie in the bar ( corpo beginnings ), with the ripperdoc, after meeting Meredith, or endlessly during my dialogue with dum dum. It's actually pretty rare that it happens outside of a dialogue, which may be why my longest session was when avoiding dialogues like that. Random dialogue you can just walk out of, no issues.
Or a few seconds after exiting a big dialogue, too.

Why it would suddenly heat up when you're technically displaying less things I'm not sure. SSD firmware was briefly mentionned ( ssds have firmwares? ). Could be an issue in the transfert from HDD to the VRAM or whatever. Since I've got PCIe 4.0 drives, those suckers really heat up fast, and having a 2080ti under the same hood can't be helping things to stay cool.

I may investigate cooling. It's still a firm nope, won't do when it comes to voluntarily underclocking any part of my system though.

Hi guys,
i have some info which may be usefull for some of you.
I was in this part of playes who was experiencing flattenings just after finish of character creation. Then game started to load and then flats.

My GPU Btw Gigabyte AMD Radeon 5700 XT.

However i have to explain i was trying different sets of drivers, and behavior was a bit different:

1. When i was trying to start game using newest drivers my comp was unexpectly restarting while in character creator.
2. When i tried to use drivers i know are working fine for me for some time ( 19.12.11) i was having fameous
"Message: Gpu Crash for unknown reasons! Callstack here is probably irrelevant. Check if Breadcrumbs or Aftermath logged anything useful.
File: e:\r6.patch0hotfix2\dev\src\common\gpuapi\src\dx12\gpuapidx12error.cpp(40) "

I tried a lot of things and nothing was helping.
What helped finally was replacing my PSU. To be more specif problem was how my old PSU was delivering power to GPU vs how ne one is (actually i read about it as an advice from guys running hardware service ).
On first picture you will see cable from my old PSU, as you coud see there it is one cable ending with 8Pins and then the same cable is extended for 6Pins plug. Basicly whole power from PSU is pushed through this one cable.

On second picture there is my new PSU plugs - and as you can see there are 2 fully separate cables ending with 2 6+2Pin plugs. So power is now pushed to GPU through 2 canles not just one.

And since i installed this like that - game magically started to load without any problems (on newest set of drivers - on 19.12.11 it is still crashing)
So if any of you have PSu with 2 VGA cables try to rearange it in your setup so you provide power to 8 and 6 Pins of your GPU separatly.

If anyone is curious this is PSU i bought :
"be quiet! Straight Power 11 650W 80 Plus Gold"

So it turned out as i should rather blame my previous PSU maufacturer instead of CDPR.

Besides trees randomly appearing, the game was stable for me in the short period I played it (1-2 hours a time, about 6 or so hours in) I was driving towards the mission after you put on the corpo suit to infiltrate the tower (I'd just entered Little China).

The game hung my system with a BSoD and my computer restarted. It BSoDed on restart...continually. Safe mode failed, I couldn't even restore it. I tried a fresh windows install - that failed at 82%.

By a stroke of luck/laziness, my old OS SSD was still in the machine and had never been scrubbed, so I had to switch the boot to that so I could clear out my "proper" OS drive. I've dealt with some shaky software in my time, but nothing quite so devastating to my system.

(For reference, my system is AMD Ryzen 7 3800X, 16GB RAM, Corsair 510 M.2 OS/GOG drive, RTX2060 Super GPU, Windows 10)

I think I'll wait for a few patches before I fire up Cyberpunk again.

I have the steam version of the game and since launch day I had always gotten the gpuapidx12error when attempting to launch the game. Regardless of using the launcher or directly from the exe, it would always produce the same error, I would see the CD Projekt Red logo, hear an audio sound then flatline crash with the gpuapidx12error message.

I tried all other troubleshooting steps, I already was using 20H2, latest Nvidia drivers, etc. I had used the Win10 utility to reset my pc but chose to keep my personal files, the error was still happening afterwards. So yesterday I reset the pc again but this time chose a full reset which wiped the drive clean before installation. Now the game launches perfectly, I went through the character creator and started a new game. I only have played about 30 mins but its progress!

I'm glad i'm not the only noticing the issue with dialogues. In my case i'm underclocking the GPU to achieve it's stock speeds so i created a profile in afterburner just for Cyberpunk until they come out with a fix. It's just the first game in many years i've enjoyed so far even with all the crashing up to this point. I'm hoping there is a fix soon without having to jump through so many darn hoops.

Didi you try updating your SSD firmware? I had similar problems (and a similar rate of progress because of perpetually reloading after crashes) with a Samsung T7. Since the update, I've only had 1 crash in about 4-5 hrs of game time.

Same here, I was surprised that my motherboard also had it's own firmware next to the BIOS itself. I'd suggest everyone should check out if their hardware's firmware is updated, sad thing is I don't think there's program (like CpuZ, GpuZ and similar) that will show you what version of it is installed.

I agree. It was a multi-day struggle for me to finally get the thing running reasonably reliably. I also disabled useless widgets like RGB controls, monitor setting changer, etc. But I think it was the SSD. I did have a couple other games that would periodically crash which I just chalked up to buggy software, but now I think it was the SSD all along.

Was running fine until the 1.04 update. I'm about 50 hours in and this is a bummer. I can run steady for about 5 - 15 mins top before a crash to desktop. Running the latest NVidia drivers, 460.89. This is the only game I have crashing randomly, going to try a reinstall now.

Thought I would post my issues as well. I have the 460.89 Nvidia drivers. I used DDU and booted into safe mode, cleaned old drivers. Booted from the install in admin mode, verified files, installed/moved to the Samsung SSD. (Had it on the nvme C drive before) No luck. I'm on the GOG launcher. Maybe trying some Nexus mods?

My issue I believe is with the GPU crashing, can someone tell me maybe what I can try underclocking it to? I've only been able to run the game for maybe 5-10 min at a time.

Hey guys, I caved and upgraded from win7 to win10, and where I previously crashed right at the start I've now gotten through all of the first mission with no issues. So if you have the "GPU crashed for unknown reason" issue and are still on win7, you should give it a try. If you have a valid win7 key the upgrade is still free.

Hi all. New to the forums, so I'm not sure where everything is yet. As such, I'll share the crash issues and some bugs I've experienced (I'm playing on the PC).

First off, let me say it's nothing too severe. I'm playing on a minimum spec system, and so I have my settings set between low and medium (experimented a bit to find a happy balance). The 2 crashes I had were pretty startling. They literally shut my PC down (totally powered it off). I am using the latest version of Windows. The first crash was before I updated the Nvidia drivers, the second was after. Since the Hotfix, I've been crash free.

As for bugs, again, nothing game breaking (yet), just funny. The biggest seems to be some sort of "collision" glitch. I tried to climb through a window once and literally got thrown backwards 200 m. I could actually repeat this one multiple times. The second major collision was when I inadvertently sideswiped a car I was passing (driving with a keyboard sucks, lol). Next thing I know, my screen goes black, with a loading indicator. Once loaded, I find myself in a rotating car HIGH above Night city, after which I fell to the road far below (what are the odds of that??) and laughed my ass off as I watched my car get all of it's doors blown off and become a bent to shit piece of scrap metal with V still sitting inside.

The only other bugs I've encountered are the "T" pose (which I only saw twice), and persistent subtitles that don't go away. It doesn't happen often, but enough to be annoying. Exiting to the main menu and reloading gets rid of it.

That's it for now. Other than what happened above, I am enjoying the game immensely. I'm a big Shadowrun buff, and this game has all the atmosphere and vibe of Shadowrun, minus the magic. The immersion is spectacular, the closest I've seen so far to truly capture the feel of "running the Shadows".

Hey all, after a week of trouble shooting I have finally found a bandage fix for my particular GPU crash.

I would get crashes every 5 to 10 min with the “gpuapidx12error.cpp”. It was random every time, no connection to what I was doing in game.

Game settings:

Preset to Ultra
Resolution 1080p
FPS is uncapped
Vsync off, I’m using Gsync

My specs are as follows:

Ryzen 7 1700x
Corsair 16gb 3200mhz (XMP enabled)
EVGA 1080ti Kingpin
500gb Samsung EVO 850 M.2. Nvme
Windows 10 Home 20H2

What I tried:

-Returning CPU to stock clocks
-Disabling Steam and Nvidia overlays
-Updating Windows 10
-Updating/reinstalling Nvidia drivers
-Reinstalling Windows 10
-Verifying game files
-Installing Polish language (recommended on a website)
-Reducing the Hz on my monitor to 60
-Turning off all programs in the background
-Launching the game from the bin folder as administrator
-Editing the memory pool size
-Playing with compatibility settings
-Setting every setting in windows and nvidia control panel to performance
-And I’m sure I missed a whole bunch others I’ve tried. Basically everything in this thread.

Solution: After someone mentioned their GPU was over boosting, I ran MSI afterburner while playing the game. Sure enough it was pegged at 2055 to 2100mhz! Knowing my cards limits these speeds would crash on any game. So I added a -150 underclock to the core, and left the memory speed as is.

This actually worked for a good 20 min and the core clock was now running at 1850 to 1900mhz BUT now I had a different issue, the game would crash by artifacting. I was no longer getting the flatlined error. After a few tries I noticed it only happens when the GPU would reach 78+F which would only happen during dialog scenes surprisingly.

So now the only way I’m able to run the game is with my fan speed pegged to 100% and a -150 underclock on the core which kept temps between 68 to 75F. This is definitely not normal or ideal for a freaking 1080Ti kingpin to suffer just to play this game at 1080p but at least It plays now… although my ears hurt from the fan noise after 2hrs of gameplay.

It's a start I suppose... honestly it took a few crashes, trial and error to find the underclock/settings that worked for my specific card. Look up the GPU you have and underclock until it hits those numbers while playing CyberPunk, then ramp up those fans to avoid overheating.

Can you please try disabling hardware acceleration in Windows? Very curious if this would help you.

This is a total stab in the dark, but are you running off an SSD? I had similar problems (on a Samsung T7 SSD) - crashes so frequent, I couldn't understand how anyone was playing the game, until I found out I could update the firmware on it. Since the update, almost all of my crashes have gone away. I had no idea that SSDs even had firmware - apparently they all do (m2, internal, external).

I am. I had it running on a Crucial 2TB SSD which did, in fact, have a firmware update. Sadly, updating the firmware did nothing and I still got crashes. In that vein I also moved the installation to one of my other SSDs and it seemed good for a bit, but it started crashing again after about an hour.

Thanks for the tip, though! Hopefully it can help somebody else out.

Since I've fixed my issue, I've clocked in some 10+ hours of gameplay with no crashes whatsoever. I was definitely among the crowd who was loud to rub CDProjekt out for giving me a game that's not working - I fully admit I was wrong.

What I honestly believe now is, CD Projekt couldn't legit predict for the tens of thousands different rigs and setups and if those setups aren't fully and properly set up, you're gonna have hiccups here and there. And I believe answer for most of these issues is fairly simple, but because of complexity of troubleshooting stuff, it gets frustrating super fast.

I'm gonna keep on refreshing and rooting out for you guys in hope you manage to fix your problems.
