Crash by crash when i leave tutorial after finished. Campaign: Nomad

Use NVidia Experience for optimize settings - Ray tracing OFF, Res: 3840x2160

Weird I never had a single crash since day 1 on my PC, never even seen any major bugs nor performance issues in 85 hours

I'm trying to fix the EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION (0xC0000005) problem where the game will not even start (no logo or anything). I originally noticed it when I was trying the DEP exemption fix and it kept telling me the executable was a 64-bit and I couldn't add it to the DEP exemptions.

Hopefully this will help someone ( like me). I'll report back in a few days if someone doesn't check it sooner.

While there may be workarounds for a lot of the issues, this game still has stability and compatibility problems, more so than can be called "normal" for a full priced title. This amount of gamebreaking crashes is not something that happens on every major game launch. A system that only ever crashed on this one game and never before is not "not properly set up", that's a software issue.

That's not even considering the last gen console problems, which seem to be so bad that Sony pulled the game. There is one PS4 hardware. There's no excuse for having a console game not properly tested and running one the console it's made for.

Just came here to add I have just got this on PC and it's crashing and giving me this error report constantly. I can't make it more than 3-4 mins before I get the crash.

Ryzen 3950X, 2080 Super, 970 Evo+ NVMe SSD, Win 10 Home.
1440P DLSS quality, mostly ultra settings, some high and some medium to boost performance, RT on - ultra. get 50-60fps ish when running.

I had the game on Xbox but refunded due to horrible performance. It runs nice enough for a few mins before the crash though on PC haha. Guess I am just not meant to be able to play this game.

Crashes when driving fast on road for a distance of about 2km in city. almost definitely it will crash. video card is 3080 play in resolution 3440x1440 around 60 fps. ray tracing ultra.

This game seems not opt video memory usage and when you travel too fast in city. finally you run out of video memory and crash?

Guess I'm one of the relatively lucky ones, only had a few hard lock ups and kinda figured it out, also performance is okay on my system.

I was getting random BSOD dpc watchdog violations, so I tried disconnecting my external hdds and 2nd monitor when playing and weirdly it worked so far. Also I turned off my anti malware, AV and other programs running, enabled low latency mode on nvcpl, disabled full screen optimization on cyberpunk.exe and enabled run as admin, increased pagefile to 16gb (was on system managed before), latest win 10 update

Only things running while playing is nzxt cam on guest mode (no overlays, not online) and afterburner, oc'ed +100 core +900 mem with OSD, getting 65-70+ fps on 1440p mix of high and med settings, DLSS on balanced and RT on reflections, shadows, lighting off. Also have reshade installed for sharpness tweaks on the fly

Specs: 8700k@5ghz, 16gb 3600mhz cl16, zotac 3070 twin edge, gigabyte z370 gaming7, 970 evo ssd, corsair 1200w

So far so good, cpu utilization is around 70-80%+, gpu on 98% most of the time but drops to 80ish depending on the area

These settings worked for me, hope this helps some people out

-When using mouse, the icon "track location" not appearing on minimap icons
-When buying an item on NPC inventory and with insufficient funds after exiting the menu, notification will pop up "New item obtained"
-Overlapping UI Cyberware menu
-Mission like retrieving an item stuck ex. (illegal medicine) side mission
-Animation glitches when V's washing his hand with blood (blood overlapping into his hand)
-NPC enemy glitch "prologue" johny silverhand on arasaka elevator. The enemy is stuck behind the door/elevator can't kill the enemy and the mission is stuck.
-NPC enemy glitch "escaping into the elevator" with jackie in konpeki building. The enemy is stuck on elevator not doing anything.
-NPC enemy sensitivity sometimes in combat mode they're not pursuing you, instead they're standing still and waiting for something or not doing anything
-Ingame screen cursor for picking up an item not working even though the cursor is centered on item still not working.
-After enemy, npc death "Rogdoll" physics is way too much soft and not realistic to see
-Occasionally PC Crashing occurred when roaming (driving) :(

Check your OS for problems, also downclock the GPU. Worked for me; I'm now stable - will soon return the GPU to stock and retest.

Run a chkdsk on your EVO and also a sfc /scannow on the OS. I have the exact same drive and had a bad block on it (the game is installed on a different drive). I also downclocked my GPU by 20% for testing but now I'm stable.

hey i was gettin the same crash , i updated windows and it fixed it for me , has to be above version 1904 i believe.

After following mostly all of the topics and comments..
I was advised to install a supported Windows 10 OS

So this time I have installed Windows 10 20H2 with OS build 19042.685
I have also used DDU to remove all previous drivers.
Then after I have updated to 460.89 and all drivers that were needed for an update.
Installed all Microsoft Visual C++ redistributable packages that are requested as per article below:
The game is not launching — Cyberpunk 2077 | Technical Support — CD PROJEKT RED

SPECS:
GPU: GTX 1060 6GB
Memory: 8GB RAM
OS: Windows 10 20H2
OS build: 20H2 (OS Build 19042.685)
CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 1055T (6 processors)
Running on SSD - Samsung 870 QVO 1TB = butt loads of free space: 700 GB
Running Direct X12 (Updated to the latest drivers)

I am still running on GOG with patch 1.04.
I start both with exe file and via redlauncher, after a few seconds it crashes with the same flatline error message.
But the issue now is no longer my GPU. Before and after patch 1.04, I get the same error message below.

Can you guys help me please what else I can do? I have done every single thing possible.
Even the integrity check shows all files are all okay..

I'm crashing on startup from Steam/RED

I'm current on Win 10 and nVidia driver updates.

I've tried verifying files in Steam, uninstalling/re-installing the game, uninstalling/re-installing VCC redistributables, running Windows in clean mode (i.e. disabling services and startup programs).

I've also tried setting the the game and RED .exe's to "Run as administrator" as some have suggested
  • CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 1075T
  • GPU: GTX 1660
  • RAM: 8 GB
  • MOBO: MSI
  • STORAGE: SSD/HDD SSD
  • RESOLUTION: 1920 x 1080

Soooo... I followed almost everything that was written in here, to no avail. GPU crash / flatline everytime, at the exact same place.

Tried turning of the overlays, still didn't work.

I figured "Maybe the game just doesn't like when something else is shown on the screen"?. Since I have 2 monitors, I tried unplugging the other one, thinking it was dumb and wouldn't work... It kind of did, I get to enter the game, but I still crash after a few minutes.

I went to the Windows Event viewer and at every crash there is a warning "Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered."

I don't know if the problem is on nvidia or CDPR side.

My PC:
  • Ryzen 3950x (non OC)
  • Asus Prime X570-Pro (bios up to date)
  • 64gb Corsair vengeance pro 3200mhz (non OC)
  • Asus RTX 2060 Super Dual Evo (non OC) (bios up to date)
Latest Windows version, latest drivers (chipset, gpu, etc.). (don't mind the weird combo, it's mainly a video editing rig)

I have found if I keep Xtreme Tuner open on my second screen the game never crashes. If I don't have it open it crashes after 2-5 minutes of play.

Well I just downloaded the update on steam, now on 1.05.

I set the graphics settings back to default (ray tracing on etc) and jumped in and sadly after 10-15 minutes had a similar crash as before.

Error reason: Unhandled exception
Expression: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION (0xC0000005)
Message: The thread attempted to read inaccessible data at 0x670.
File: <Unknown>(0)

So I'm back on the roundabout..

Going back through the steps, turned off ray tracing and DLSS and got another crash around 10 minutes in

Haven't had a single crash in almost 100 hours of playtime (except 2 right after launching the game for the first time). After updating to 1.05, 2 crashes in 10 minutes. Amazing update, I must say.
