Cyberpunk 2077 PC Crash Issues

+
I don't have any antivirus enabled right now. After I reloaded Windows I did not install antivirus and when I was testing it I made sure the Windows antivirus was also turned off. The only security thing I have is a VPN on my entire network which I had for almost 2 years unchanged so whatever the problems are I did not cause them. This all started in the last month. I am confident it was with the 1.62 patches or should I call them glitches? 1.62 do not work with cross platform cloud saves enabled in the game. 1.61 also did not work with cross platform cloud saves either during my testing yesterday morning. So I think one of the 1.62 patches turned that setting back on. I have videos on my YouTube while I play without problems with 1.61. It is 100% something that 1.62 patches changed. It’s not even Nvidia drivers because before I reloaded Windows I was on driver 516 from last year and it was fine. Then the 1.62 patches came and I started having crashes. Now I have the latest Nvidia drivers and everything is fine as long as cross platform cloud saves are turned off. The 2 1.62 patches broke the game unless like I said previously maybe the cross platform cloud saves got enabled in 1.62? I honestly don't remember as I don't mess with the settings unless there is something not working.
It "broke" something on your side... But I assume you're not alone to play the game in 1.62 (or 1.61) and among those who play the game, some play with cross-progression anbled (to use it or simply they're not aware it's enabled, by default when linking a GOG account) without any issue...
If it was really broken in the game (i.e for everyone), you won't be "alone" to encounter crashes (at least to post about crashes) due to cross-progression :(
That's why I recommand to send a report to the support (using the link that I posted) to help CDPR to figure out why it happen to you (including a DxDiag).

You keep talking about cross progression. Are we even talking about the same thing? In Cyberpunk settings under gameplay there is a setting called "Enable cross-platform Saves". This is what crashes my game if I enable it. Here is a screenshot.

Yes, the cross-progression (using GOG servers). This option is enabled by default as soon as you link your GOG account.

I assume (I'm pretty confident), like me at first, many players let it enabled without using it and didn't/don't encounter any issue or crashes. If it was the case, many players would have already reported it (on the forum at least). Like it was the case with the previous patch, the game crashing during (all) endings, many players reported it only few hours/days after the release of the patch.
Again, that's why I recommand to send a ticket to the support (either to receive help or to help them to figure out why cross-progression cause crashes on your system. In both case, it's useful).

Game is very unstable since 1.62 with RT on. FPS drops in some areas or over time in general, and after closing map sometimes.

Changed cascaded shadow quality and resolution to low - now it does not slow down after closing map, but just crashes 1/4 of the time.

The crash produces gpucrash log and always GBuffer operation is in progress.

Reproducing for me is trivial - just mash M and game will flatline after some tries.

Interesting to note that it does not crash with RT Pathtracing on, just regular RT.

I know this is not the answer you are looking for but turn of RT. My card can handle RT very well but I have it off because I really do not see a major difference except in the noise of the fans on my GPU, heat and power usage. I mean sure it's nice to have on but the difference is so minimal that it is not visually a game changer. My PC benchmarks 144 FPS with RT off and 88 with RT on which is still higher than my monitor can display (60 FPS). I have Vsync on and the game plays beautifully everywhere in the game. Just my 2 cents.

I have the exact same problem as you. Only difference is 5900X with 3080TI. This game forced me to reinstall windows 10 with same results and no mods, overclocks or other software. I literally backed up some downloads i had previously then did a fresh install of windows 10 and made sure had lates nvidia drivers and all windows updates. I start the game it plays for a good amount of time first and I'm happy. Next day the game wont play for more than 10 minutes allover the the place in the game. no particular location. I have tried nvidia drivers all the way back to 516 which cam out in summer of last year and nothing. this latest micro patch is 100% to blame as same as you i have hundreds of hours of crashless game play aside from the very beginning when the game was complete $hit. But after like patch 1.52 it was smooth completely for me. Someone mentioned it is easy to downgrade to previous patch version with GOG launcher. Where is an option to do that in there?
For steam I found a video that explains how to do so. I ended up going back to the last patch in jan. I'm about to hop on and see if everything worked, but if you go on YT lookup "revert cyberpunk patch" and watch the video by dr greg for the steam version and for GOG look up the same and put GOG then watch the video by Fattah Samit

Do you have an AMD processor by chance? Because those heavily stutter when using a menu, including the map. In that case the culprit is DLSS 3.
Either way, might be worth sending a ticket to the official CDPR support, they require a dxdiag and maybe some of the crashlogs (they will answer you via mail). Menus have been finicky for some time so it might help them pinpoint the issue.

Tried everything ?
Did you ever use mods ?
If yes, a "clean install" could be the only way to fix "mod related" issues :
If no, at first be sure that you try everything that the support suggest and if nothing work, send a ticket to the support ("contact us" button, including a DxDiag).

Edit : The game could be very sensitive to any kind of OC (CPU/GPU/RAM), XMP for example (some got random crashes fixed by disabling XMP or set their RAM to 2933mhz).

Since the hotfix of two weeks ago, I have been unable to get past the 'Cyberpunk' screen; not even loaded. I run zero mods, and have uninstalled and reinstalled the game, but still crash every time approximately five seconds after loading. Anyone have the solution?

Is the game crashing or not even launching? It sounds more like it’s crashing so do you get an error message? It sounds like it’s crashing so I’ll include the link for Cyberpunk 2077 Support about Crashes down below. Double check your specs against the minimum and recommended specs for the game (personally feel the recommended are the true minimum). Are you on Windows 10 or 11 and fully up to date? Recommend doing a clean uninstall of the game as well as of the GPU drivers (AMD or NVidia) and reinstalling the game after the Graphics Drivers. I personally uninstall the launcher as well (GOG Galaxy for me) butI really don’t play a lot of games and just have Cyberpunk installed right now. Following the clean uninstall I’d recommend running CCleaner or (even better) System Mechanic Ultimate (though it is a premium service). Don’t uninstall the Graphics Drivers until having manually downloaded the current Driver from AMD / NVidia. Install and configure the Graphics Driver. Install Cyberpunk 2077. Obviously restart the PC at various stages throughout the process. If all that doesn’t work, contact Cyberpunk 2077 Support as show down below via the Contact Us button.

Obviously if you have any issues or questions about the whole thing check here or with the GPU forums for FAQ’s and Walktbroughs.

I'm experiencing a consistent crash since 1.62. The game freezes during key missions, e.g. rescuing Evie from Electric Corp, or on a new character in Kompeki plaza at the bar area. If i go into inventory at all, the game freezes on exit and then takes several minutes to create a crash report. The game was running exceptionally well prior to 1.62.
PC specs:
Alienware x15 R2
2th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-12900H (20 CPUs)
32 Gigs RAM
Windows 11, build 22H2
NVIDIA GeForce 3070 Ti Laptop GPU, driver version 31.0.15.3179 (I check this morning and this is the latest driver (20 MAY 2023)
\\
MODS: Never installed one.

I've submitted multiple helpdesk tickets with no response.
i'm hoping the forum will have an idea of what is going on.

I have 3000 hours of play between the laptop and my older i7 desktop.

Is the freeze and crashes separate between those two triggers? Meaning it’s not just on opening the menu but also at key points when the menu wasn’t accessed at all? Try changing Cascaded Shadows Range and Cascaded Shadows Resolution first to Max if it wasn’t there already, or to Low if it was already on Max. Flip the settings basically. I’m not sure why this helps but it has. Per reports for menu slowdowns, freezes, and crashes. The mission crashes could be something totally different. Let us know if this does or doesn’t work.

Just a few general notes for all, now that this thread continues to grow:

1.) Remember that the forums are here for community support. If you wish for feedback from CDPR directly, please ensure you are sending in an official support ticket:
...selecting the appropriate game, platform, and any requested hardware information (for PC).

2.) If you are playing a modded game, there is likely nothing that CDPR can do to assist you. Many problems that occur in modded games are due to the mods themselves or to mods being removed during a playthrough. Based upon their function, most mods will leave reference data, in the saved game files when you save a game with a mod running. This reference data cannot be removed -- even if the mod is removed. That is often what causes issues. If you mod a game, then you do so at your own risk. This is true of mods for every game in existence, not just CP2077.

3.) Long playtimes on a single playthrough may exhibit weird behavior. If you have hundreds or even thousands of hours on a single character, it may have put the game into a state that creates issues that are next to impossible to track down. Beginning a new game to test if the issue happens universally is always a good step.

4.) If your playthrough has been through multiple version updates, it can result in weirdness that cannot be practically re-created. Even if your playtime is not that long, these consecutive changes may introduce extremely specific scenarios that result in instability. Beginning a new game would be most advisable in that sort of a situation.

_______________

All of that being said, do feel free to post issues you're running into. But try to check what you're seeing against the basics listed above (especially mod-related issues), as there's often very little that can be done about these sorts of scenarios, if they apply.

I`m 100% sure it's a driver issue and or shader cache
If I set shader cache size to 100gig, when I delete temporary files directx shader cache is only 194kb, restart etc
the size remains the same
100% game crasing at launch startup is due to ambient occlusion
even more - why geforce experience doesn't show cyberpunk 2077 on game list ? even when I manually add folder
something is fishy there
driver used: nvidia geforce experience 531.79
somewhat I managed to run all settings on medium 1080p, then choosed again a wrong setting in control panel
ps:hardware acceleration is off in wi10 latest update. ram lowered down from 3600 to 3200 , 1.4v
whatever amd ryzen (including 5000 zen3) issue it is, it's also apply to my b2 stepping
cheers

Took a break about a month ago because of persistent crashing. I played Death Stranding during that time and not once did it crash. I just finished the game and thought why not boot up Cyberpunk 2077 again. To no surprise, it crashed again.

Don’t forget to report what you can to CDPR Support. Obviously troubleshoot it where you can and always run the steps by people here just in case, but letting them know matters even when you feel it doesn’t.

I get this issue when I try to launch the game. it blackscreens than shows the flatline error. im really getting mad I cant play the game I paid for

What are your specs?
Have you been able to play the game before? Or it's the first time you try to play?
At first, be sure to try all of these steps :

The weird thing, I didn't have the crashing problem prior to 1.62. It only all started after installing 1.62. Not sure if there's a new bug introduced that is conflicting with some PC configurations that is causing these crashes. Guess we'll never know. I even submitted a tech support ticket but never got answer. Also, just idling in the menu won't ever crash the game. It's only when you're playing it.

My pc specs,

i7 13700k
rtx 3080 12gb
ddr5 64gb
Game is installed on a separate ssd from the OS
