Cyberpunk 2077 PC Crash Issues

+
Im so glad I didnt buy the dlc yet...im at a loss... done everything possible... clearly an issue with the game atm
Same. I somehow managed to get the game to run by lowering my graphical settings and resolution, saving, and then putting them back up to what they should be. I very much meet the system requirements and I play with 60-70 FPS on average, so my system is fine.

However, even with my workaround, it crashes after about 30-40 minutes. There's 100% a memory leak going on, as I always get the same "Ran out of memory" message despite having 16 GB of dual-channel RAM and 6 GB of VRAM.

Unbelievable that a memory leak got through the QA.

The previous version was running fine, but after updating to 2.0 and upgrading the Nvidia drivers, the game crashes upon launch. An error pop-up appears on a Cyberpunk-themed startup page, and I am certain that I have not installed any mods, and have already uninstalled and reinstalled the game.I don't know what to do.

Just some guesses :
> Check if you windows version is up to date using this:
> If you're on Nvidia, try to install Studios drivers instead of Game Ready drive using DDU
I. Download the latest drivers using the following link: https://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
II. Download Display Driver Uninstaller and run it to remove previous versions of drivers.
III. Clean install drivers that you've downloaded in step 1.
> Perform a clean install if you didn't.

Hello,

I had installed the new patch 2.0 couple of days ago and since then the game crashes every time its starts (when the logo of CD PROJEKT RED appears after the game title)

I tried to check what causes it but with no avail. The game worked fine before the update.

I use the the latest version of Windows 10 Home , build 19045

What can causes it? and how it can be fixed? i really want to comeback to the street of Night City :)

Hi,
More infos could be useful :)
So what's your specs?
Then few things :
I read on the forum someone who fixed it by checking directly on Windows page for updates (on Windows itself, everything appear to be fine, while it was not). So maybe worth to take a look in case :
Maybe try to clean install your drivers :
NVIDIA
I. Download the latest drivers using the following link: https://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
II. Download Display Driver Uninstaller and run it to remove previous versions of drivers.
III. Clean install drivers that you've downloaded in step 1.
AMD
I. Uninstall your graphics drivers using the AMD Cleanup Utility software.
II. Download and clean install the latest drivers from here: https://www.amd.com/en/support
Maybe clean install the game if you didn't (above all if you used mods in the past. Disable/Remove is often not enough to get rid of all mod datas).

Activating any raytracing feature with the 2.0 patch crashes the game during start (when the CDPR logo shows up). Also DLSS is greyed out for me.

I tried reinstalling the drivers and the game several times now and it's so frustrating. I'll uninstall it for now and come back next year when the DLC is on sale. That's certainly not what I've hoped for -.-

Windows 11
RTX 3060
Ryzen 3700X
64 GB RAM

If anyone is getting Watchdog timeout I suggest checking if your windows is up to date. I was struggling with the game and I couldn't even choose a path for my character. I tried updating my windows through settings > Windows update and although it all downloaded and installed, it didn't fully update my windows.
So I googled "Windows 10 update" ( I'm using Windows 10), clicked the first Microsoft link and there was a blue button saying "Update now". It downloads app called Windows 10 upgrade. When you run it, it downloads and installs the newest update. After all of that I can play Cyberpunk 2077 2.0.
I'm also using the newest drivers for my GPU (GTX 3060)

Hope this helps
For me, with Windows 10, this seems to work. I've been able to play the game for an hour without any issue.

Can't go to the MAP. Each time it crashes. Yes, the driver for my GeForce RTX 3060 is VERY UP TO DATE

I fix it! This is undoubtedly a bug. I tried deleting the bin/x64 folder and then performed a game integrity check to fix it, and the problem was resolved.

Same here, many people has this problem. Game freezes at splash then crashes after 2 minutes.

Fresh install (stopped playing in 2020 lauch day and never played again, no old mod or game leftovers whatsoever)
No mods or tweaks
Ryzen 5 5600x
RTX 3070 (537.42 drivers)
32gb RAM
Windows 10 LTSC
Crucial P5 SSD

Hello there o7
heehhehe

I had the exact same issue with Cyberpunk 2077 2.0, constant random freezes on open map, starting new game, start up
open skilltree and so on, heck i even managed to freeze/crash the benchmark.

I reverted to my old Graphic Drivers and that solved the freezing / crashing problems. Under some circumstances Nvidia
Driver 537.42 is faulty and causes those problems. Ofc if you revert you give up Ray Reconstruction (for now)
so keep that in mind.

Maybe that will help you guys
So long

PS:
Ryzen 5700X
32 GB RAM RipJaw DDR4 4000 (at 3600)
SATA SSD
RTX 3080
Win 10 LTSC
(no mods no nothing i made a clean install of CP77)

I saw there could be crash issue with returnign to main menu (which I usually do not do) which ends with game flatlined. Report was sent every time. Another soft bug was impossibility call V's car which was resolved with restarting game. Beside this all so far worked smoothly.

Reddit helped: "In the settings -> GamePlay, under miscellaneous, you will be able to find option to enable/disable cross-platform saves. ... set it to disabled" resolved crash issue when return to main-menu.

I've not had the crashes reported toward the beginning of this thread (lolno, didn't read the whole thing). I have had two crashes in total (both bug-reported) and they both happened when doing the same thing. That was after having run the game's built-in graphics benchmark a few times (tinkering with settings to try and find a sweet-spot). After the final go, in the post-benchmark stats screen, I chose the "Return to Main Menu" option instead of returning to settings. That has twice crashed the game for me, but at other times it didn't.

No biggie here, since I wasn't actually "playing" the game, just fiddling with settings. I've had no gameplay crashes yet and I'm about 10-15 hours into 2.0 gameplay.

I really wish this game would work. There's only so many times I can keep running away from the Ghost in the Shell spider for it to keep crashing when it autosaves. I thought this was just a console thing, now I'm seeing PC has the same problems. Looks like we're all peasants tonight.

I guess CDPR STILL didn't learn to code properly. I've deleted the settings file from %localappdata%, updated all vcredist packages, did a clean reinstall of the newest nvidia drivers (537.42), downgraded them to the previous version, also cleanly installed (537.34), still no joy with the DLC. The 2.0 patch worked for me, up until I installed the DLC along with the micropatch that was bundled as a separate setup file. Even a clean reinstall of the WHOLE 77GB game didn't help me.
Specs:
i7-13700k, 64GB DDR5 (XMP active), RTX 3070, PCIe 4 SSD.
I've even tried activating a 4GB pagefile as suggested by some folks in this thread (pre-2.0), even that didn't help. But with 64GB RAM it shouldn't even be necessary, the only game dev I know that still needs a pagefile regardless of RAM size are the folks at Star Citizen (and that's a huge meh).

Hey, can't create new thread, so I am posting it here since it's kinda relavant.

When I quick or normal save, the game crashes. This started happening with Phantom Liberty Expansion. With pure 2.0 update it did not happen at all. (GoG version of the game)

So apparently I can play for awhile, but sometimes when loading it crashes and then afterwards I HAVE to verify the game again otherwise it'll crash at launch.... very strange...Hope they fix this game soon.

Game (GoG version) crashes my entire PC whenever I try to launch it since the Phantom Liberty update today.

Verifying/repairing my client after the crash causes a 51 mb download to happen but doesn't solve the issue.
