Add me to the line

i5-6600k @4.2Ghz
RTX 2070 8GB
16GB ram
Windows 10 Pro last update
Nvidia drivers all updated
I play FullHD

I have never been able to launch the game: I just push Play (GOG user here) and it just flatlines.

Tried everything... updated everything, deleted reinstalled C++, edited the AVX stuff (enabled/disabled all tried), followed the CDPR guidelines, also as a last resort I swapped the .exe with the one from the NexusMods website. To no avail. Always the same error just seconds after I push play.

Definitely not an issue ONLY related to your cpu, or Windows version, or drivers, or programs in background and overlays

Seems to me the issue is pretty common on every kind of machine, but may be triggered by a variety of factors.

Not much of a consolation for me, day-1 is gone just swearing, losing time and patience. I'm tempted to try it on my windows 7 setup, different hard disk... but no thanx (slow connection and I ran out of patience)

DO NOT OVERCLOCK your GPU and the game should launch without flatlining.

Please let me know if this works for you. I had the same issue with Control (which is another RTX game) and this solved it.

Ryzen 3800x
RTX 2070 super
16GB ram
Windows 10 Pro last update
Nvidia drivers all updated

Sometimes the game does not start, other times it starts a little, other times it lets me select a character and customize it and it closes later.
I've tried everything, even clean install of Windows

Do you overclock your GPU? If so, return it to base settings

Never clocked the GPU. No actual need. Same goes with the majority of the folks here with the RTX series or equivalent, i guess.

I disabled DLSS and Ray Tracing. Been running fine for hours now on 2070S. Not sure if that will be of help for anyone else.

Well, it works! Downloading the AVX fix did the job. Still crashes occasionally....but playable.

Game crashing on old CPUs: possible fix

If you happen to have an old CPU you maybe having this crash:

Expression: EXCEPTION_ILLEGAL_INSTRUCTION (0xC000001D)

The game is trying to use a feature you don’t have: AVX.

At the beginning playing corpo when you sit it crashes. A possible temporal solution while they fix this issue is to remove this part of code:

Edit Cyberpunk2077.exe with a hexadecimal editor and search for

554881ECA00000000F2970E8

Change the first byte to C3 (return from the function):

C34881ECA00000000F2970E8

Please note this fix is extremely simplistic and naïve. Moreover, it could crash the game later. This change seems to fix this crash and you can continue playing the game. I have only tested a few minutes more.

FAQ: Why are they using AVX?

They are not doing it on purpose, it is probably the default configuration of the compiler.

I am getting hard freezes/lock ups at random points where i am accessing menus or something similar. It requires a hard reset to do anything.

system specs:
OS: Windows 10 latest update
CPU: Intel i9 10900k Stock
Memory: 32GB
GPU: MSI RTX 2080Ti
Running on SSD

Have checked windows for currupt files
have done a memort test
have done a hard drive test
verified integrity of game cache files
latest drivers all around (MB bios included)

uninstalled and reinstalled twice, same issue, even when installing on HDD

Seem work for now! Can you explain how you understand the change is here?

They don't need to understand. They can attach a debugger application to select the offending block in memory when it crashes. They can also take the hex, convert to text and then determine what kind of command it is trying to execute. In this case, it COULD be changing a flag that is failing (making the crash) to be set as passed, bypassing the issue.

It also COULD be setting some flag to disable all AVX. Or share your personal information. :D

fofo,

Just curious to know.

So it is possible that they didn't even use the AVX functions in their game? it is just during compiling, they didn't bother to untick the AVX options?

By so called 'unticking' the default configuration, is this a long & complicated process to compile?

For what its worth, I was able to get thru the character build then after, like many others, it crashed, and after crashed at the cdpr logo- after trying all the fixes, I downloaded gpu-z, and noticed that somehow, my nvidia driver (rtx2070fe) was rolled back to 430, which is really strange. I had updated to the latest driver the night before. Once I re-downloaded and reinstalled the latest driver, the game works. This could be isolated, and I dont know how the driver could have rolled back, but its worth a 2nd look if you have exhausted all other options.

The AVX fix on Nexus worked for me! The game is running perfectly now! Whoever figured that out is a lifesaver. I knew my cpu still had some life in it lol
