GOG version
Ryzen 3700X, 32GB ram, RTX 2070 Super, Windows 10 Pro
1440p 165Hz monitor.

Yup flatline every single time. Has never got past the CDPR logo even.
Tried reinstalling clean, reinstalling nvidia driver clean. Clean boot. No overlays from anything running. Changing monitor to 1080p. sfc /scannow shows nothing wrong. Direct X completely up to date. Every other piece of software and hardware completely up to date. Support ticket raised. Hours wasted doing this and then reading page after page of people with issues all over the internet.

It has had delay after delay and still runs badly for even high end hardware when it runs at all. Any excuses I've seen so far are feeble at best. When I can run Star citizen at close to 60fps and it's a well known buggy mess but this can't even start we know there is a huge problem.

Anger through the roof as automated support response tells me a reply could take a couple of weeks. With all the delays they could have hired, trained and had working from home dozens of extra support staff.

Same here, Corpo campaign "sit down V" instant crash 100% of the time.
This might be the biggest disappointment in the history of gaming, serves me right...This is absolutely ridiculous, shame on you CDPR. Day one cancelled for me...gonna have to wait for a patch or refund it.
Game of the generation?? I dont think so...at least Fallout 76 ran! How did this happen!?
At least GOG has good refund policies...fix it soon or its getting refunded. Mind u havent even spoken about game performance in genera....atrocious. Damn you 2020

This is EXACTLY what is happening to me. I am floored CDPR pushed out something that is crashing this hard to desktop so much. Pre-ordered this shit last year, before they delayed to thanksgiving then xmas. I am beyond frustrated. This simply should not happen in a consumer product\software. Period.

Crashing for me too.

1st attempt - crashed after initial screen
2nd and 3rd attempt - CTD on launch
4th attempt - launched and managed to get into character creation, crashed when started to load after creating the character
5, 6, 7, 8, 9th attempts - CTD when launching game
Disabled all overlays on Steam, installed GoG and also disabled overlay in settings
10th attempt - CTD
11th attempt - succeeded into creating the char and proceeded to where my char starts to rip a patch from the jacket then it CTD.

Most of the times I can see the warning “display driver stopped working”...it’s always the NVidia driver the culprit.
NVidia drivers are latest for Cyberpunk 2077 release before anyone asks.
This is the 1st AAA (other than Valhalla that requires Win10) game I’m unable to run on my PC (minimum requirements met) and I’m about to ask for a refund as the problem clearly affects a lot of people and not just me.
Despite all this I’m leaning for an issue with the drivers and game settings/profiles...maybe!
Will be looking forward to a “fix”.
Does anyone know if this is affecting Radeon users?

I feel you. I preordered the physical PC version when they first made it available and just bought a digital copy tonight because I wanted to play it early, so now i'll have two copies of a game i can't even play lol.

I had 3 crashes within 5 - 10 minutes of each other. I dialed my settings down after each crash, turning off ray tracing briefly.
Stats are:
I7 8700k
64GB Ram
Asus STRIX 3090
2x 1TB nvme SSD in RAID(0)

Attempted disabling GoG overlay and then went troubleshooting.
I ended up re-installing (clean) the nvidia drivers 460.79 and left settings default there.
Restarted the computer and when I entered GoG, I used the repair/verify integrity button. after a scan it downloaded 29mb something and my game was able to run for 3+ hours without issue.

Maybe there was something wrong with the preload data that got fixed after integrity check?

Same issue but the interesting thing is that:
1. It happened to me when starting a second new game.
2. The audio was still playing

OS: Windows 10

Update your game. When they launch there was a few megabyte update (I am assuming they were switching the executable that brings up that page with the real one that "launches" the game. I put launches in quotes because as far as I can tell it just crashes to desktop all the time)

RE: immediate crash on launch, i.e. you can't even start the game. (If you're making it to the main menu, disregard this entire post - you aren't being kneecapped by this particular problem, you lucky bastard, you).

Finally managed to get mine working on my Win7 install by figuring out ONE of the actual root causes (it's a pretty big one):
the game engine isn't implementing its directx layer normally and/or correctly.

In its current state, there's a high likelihood that any given instance of the game won't work correctly even on a correctly-configured and healthy Windows OS; unfortunately, there are a thousand factors affecting the environment wherein this interaction takes place - so until somebody at CDPR finds and pushes that day-0 patch that was supposed to turn off certain functions of their development environment in the retail client so it will play nice with end-users, all you can really do is try to simplify as much as possible and hope. *shrug*

(The following is, of course, assuming that you know enough about what you're doing to have already *properly* ruled out any kind of dependency, installation, driver or local configuration problem on your own - I'm not getting in to any of that).

Possible workaround (for probably Win7 ONLY) using GOG version (because that's what I have to test with):
- Restart your computer. You actually NEED to do this if you have already had the game crash at least once on you, because it will almost certainly prevent your graphics driver from fully recovering as it usually would - so just do it.
- From this point on, remember that if at any point you try to start the game again and it crashes, you should restart before trying again.
- Completely close any application that is NORMALLY *ABLE TO* use any form of directx injection, which basically means anything that has the OPTION in its settings to enable any kind of "overlay" or other visual effects that appear in any other applications (or anything invasive enough to have similar functionality without giving you a choice, e.g. Chrome). Steam and GOG clients, Afterburner, RTSS, Chromium-based browsers, etc. Do this even if you have explicitly disabled any such functionality!
- Enable Windows Vista SP2 compatibility mode for the game executable. If your particular Win7 installation allows you to select Windows 7 compatibility mode (...yeah, I know), you can try that first.
- Your historical and current UAC settings along with several other factors will affect whether you need to run the game as an Administrator—or if, instead, you need to specifically-NOT run as an Administrator—for the compatibility mode to function "correctly," so try both. In either case, launch the game directly from the executable.
- Last-ditch: manually stop the Desktop Window Manager Session Manager service, and confirm that dwm.exe isn't running.

If you're stuck with only Win8 or Win10... all I can tell you is that the same/equivalent functionality either isn't available or isn't implemented in the same manner, and that both 8 and 10 incorporate directx in a much more convoluted and far less user-configurable manner, because Microsoft. Maybe somebody else will find a much more annoying workaround for them, soon.

If you're running the latest GeForce graphics drivers, there's at least a 50% chance that you're making it worse by doing so; in situations like this, the normal "fixes" that nvidia tries to quickly hack into drivers for sketchy launches are actually more likely to cause this problem to occur than to fix some other less-severe problem. If nothing else has worked for you and you're sure that you, yourself, aren't the root cause of your crash, try reverting to a good game-ready driver from at least a few months ago.

GL. I'm finally in-game. Now my watch is over.

Nevermind, I just figured out how to fix the problem from another thread, Delete the UserSettings.json located in AppData\Local\CD Projekt Red\Cyberpunk 2077. As long as you don't open up the settings menu (which creates a new UserSettings.json) it should run fine. Looks like 1.03 creates a corrupt config file. Works fine so far, even though it's a bit laggy since I can't modify the graphics settings.

HI! I've beenhaving this problem since release. I tried reinstalling both the game and steam, turning off over lays and all sorts of stuff. lastly i went to my GeForce NIVIDIA drivers to make sure they were updated. i have it set to auto up date buut, they hadn't updated themselves yet. So, i manually updated them and reset my computer. i let it do all its Spotify/steam/etc. "launch on start up" stuff. didn't want to give it any reason to be slow from those processes. Went back into my drives and double checked they were up to date, they were. SO. i started the game as normal (sacrificed my first born and treefiddy) annnd its been working fine since. I have to remake my character but thats fine. The good thing is its working. I tried everything before this point like I'm sure a lot of you have. I suggest double checking you're drives. i was positive mine were and they weren't. I don't know if maybe it didn't auto update because they released today? or maybe they were on hold because it could tell i was active on my pc?(kind like how windows will do if you se it that way) so just double check em, it cant hurt. Ifs this helps anyone thats awesome , if not, than its another thing to mark off the "tried it" list so you can find a solution faster. P.S. Sorrry for the long post I'm just really excited now and wanted to try and possibly help out some other peeps.

Turn off ANYTHING that has an overlay. That is one culprit that has been CTD'ing ppl.

I have tried and tried hitting the update and it does nothing. I'm almost ready to refund through gog and go to steam. Only got it from gog to give them all the money. And I'm not very happy atm.

I'm having the same exact issue. I'm using a Steam copy of Cyberpunk btw.
Intel W3680 CPU
RTX 3070 GPU
12GB DDR3 RAM

I've installed the latest Nvidia drivers 460.79 and it's still crashing for me.

Verify and Restore, that should be one of the options if you manage your game in Steam or GoG.
