Yes this is either a compiler bug or more likely, wrong flags passed. A typical example on x86* would indeed be avx2 instructions rather than a broader subset. GIven how gpu hardware isn't scaling , there is no doubt something hasn't been done well enough in this release. I don't know if it's literaly the opposite, they got SO MUCH cool stuff in and it's doing pretty darn well but I would expect better scaling on those with 2080+ and 30** series :D I am on a 1070 and actually it's 'almost there', fps is still 40-60 but can dip making it kinda just not as smooth as one could hope for. being a single player game htough, I can live with this...

EDIT: guy trying to play with a 1060.. ouch.

Might be a bit of a stretch, but if your CPU has AVX and you're experiencing AVX instruction issues, disable your overclock. AVX doesn't play nice if you overclock without paying attention to it's own offset, which is why playing games like Overwatch and SoTR with just an usual overclock isn't the best idea.

! Steam!

For me it kept crashing after CDPR Logo.

The following has helped me:

Start Steam, press "play" and then start Cyberpunk2077.exe! (not via launcher!)

now you should come to the main menu. Now I had the problem that it crashed when loading the game.

I fixed that by setting "HBAO" down in the graphics settings.

Hope it works for you too.

have you tried it?

my game crashed every time after the logo, after which i did it like this it always worked.

I can't understand that all the big companies can't get their games done. Ubisoft, Activision, EA ... all bring semi-finished products to market
They had so much development time .... Game will probably work after 20 patches ...

The sad irony is that games from those companies were in a far more stable state at launch than CP. I could at least complete the tutorial in games from those companies. I can't even watch the whole intro movie in CP without it crashing my gpu drivers!

Double agree. I've never had a game completely refuse to launch with the usual workarounds since the nineties.
Shit when the launch bugs are as bad/worse than FO76 we know we're dealing with a mess.
My rig can run Star Citizen at close to 60fps and that is a bug ridden mess but I can't even get this game to launch.

If you think it's bad on PC, imagine how people who bought it on the console feel -- game literally crashes within 10 minutes continually throughout the game
Post automatically merged: Dec 12, 2020

If a game half as buggy as this was launched by EA, people would have burned down EA's corporate headquarters in El Segundo on Thursday. Apparently if you're a Polish developer, you just get a pass?

I keep crashing sometimes after half an hour of playing sometimes after hours of gaming. In the city, driving in the outskirts, while fighting and sometimes just while picking up items.

Totally random crashes.

Crash log will be below.

Can anyone confirm if my crash has a fix or if it's just due to the game having issues

My PC is an i9 9900k with an MSI Geforce GTX 3090 Gaming X Trio 24gb
16 gb of Ram
Windows 10 64 bit
Nvidia Drivers are up to date
Crash happens both with MSI Afterburner running and a FPS overlay and WITHOUT any overlays.
Have reinstalled the game on to a different SSD with the same crash.
Temps appear normal during gameplay

Crash log is below:

Hey,

if someone has issues with GPU related errors like:

Error reason: Assert
Expression: <Unknown>
Message: Gpu Crash for unknown reasons! Callstack here is probably irrelevant. Check if Breadcrumbs or Aftermath logged anything useful.
File: e:\r6.patch0hotfix2\dev\src\common\gpuapi\src\dx12\gpuapidx12error.cpp(40)

Try to lower your graphics settings and resolution.
For example native resolution of my monitor is 4K. Tried to play at lowest graphics settings at 4K. Did not work. Got crashes each 10 min or even less.
But after setting in-game resolution to 1080 everything works. Enjoying the game 1,5h already.
It is not perfect but better than nothing.

Any luck fixing this kind of errors? I have regular crushes every ~10 mins with same uninformative logs.

I7 4790K
GTX 1080 Ti
8 Gb RAM
Win 10 x64 with last updates
Latest driver.

Hotfix 1.04 didn't help.

So my GPU crash I believe is related to the UltraWide resolution. My native resolution is 3440x1440 and the game will crash even at the lowest settings not being able to get past the character creator. I have found a way to get the game to work by lowering to 1920x1080 on the lowest settings but it is a terrible experience being that the image gets stretched. I think I will wait for a proper patch.

I bought a game that works and I want to play. I'm a 47 year old man and I can afford the microtransactions if I want, although I tend not to buy them. I thought it was mildly funny in a thread that seriously lacking humor. Sorry it got you all butt hurt.

While I am a bit frustrated, you notice I didn't hurl any insults at the developers. I'm not childish like that.

I'll be sticking around though. Sorry not to fulfill your GTFO wish. I do still want to play when it gets fixed.

After using every trick I could find it's finally stopped crashing every 5-10 minutes for me.

The initial steps I took were:
- Verified game files on steam
- Updated all drivers
- Updated Windows
- The DDU clean driver install
- Disabling game overlays in steam & xbox app
- Disabling non essential services/background programs

The latest steps I took that seems to have got it working were:
- Running the cyberpunk.exe directly from the bin/x64 folder
- Downgrading all graphics to High
- Dropping resolution down to 1080p from 2k
- Setting to windowed mode
- Turning of ray tracking and DLSS

After about 30 minutes without a crash I set the resolution back to 2k and it still hasn't crashed in an hour or so.

Good luck!

Just put in a 1070 my brother had lying around. Did a clean install of my Nvidia drivers, still no luck. Super disappointed that this many people can't even play the game still. I'm well within recommended specs now, and I have yet to see the CDPR logo in game.

I was initially getting crash at startup every time, however I fixed this by disabling GOG overlay.
The game can be played BUT it inevitably gets random crashes every time, with the log saying it's an unknown GPU crash.

With the AVX issue - just want to point out that I've played 12 hours with that one mod advertised earlier without a single crash. I know this is different than the graphics issues some are having - but who knows, just my experience. No accomplishments on Steam with the mod (thus far) - but I'm there for the game, not the badges ;p .....

Hey.

I’ve try to run on Win7. I hit \Cyberpunk 2077\bin\x64\Cyberpunk2077.exe> (there is window to allow open Cyberpunk2077.exe to run as administrator) and after few second process Cyberpunk2077.exe just disappeared from Task Manager. With no info, no “Cyberpunk 2077 has flatlined”, no crash report. Nothing :(
Anybody know where is any crash file? I can’t find any of this. Maybe there will be some info what’s wrong.

I’ve installed new graphics driver, restart Windows, try every hint from offcial support page. Still the same.

I got: Intel i7-6700HQ 2,6 GHz
16 GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M

People on older CPUs should really do the hex fix. I haven't had a single crash since I made that change. I have experienced other bugs, but no crashes.

The fix for 1.04 is exactly the same as for 1.02, just using the newer 1.04 .exe file.

Thought I would share with the group.

After installing the game on release day, I found that the app crashed during the intro mission when doing a Corpo run through. As soon as I tried to interact with that chair and sit, the game crashed.

Taking the amazing advice found earlier in this thread, I used a HexEditor to make a change and I was able to play error free for several hours after that point.

I noted that an update was published, so I reverted back to the original .exe file that did not include the Hex modification and let the update run.

I then found that the app crashes immediately. This occurred when running the .exe directly as well.

I then made the same Hex edit that previously solved my problem and found that the error still occurred. I am now running through the usual lame troubleshooting (Validate steam files) and if that does not work, I suppose I will try and reinstall.

However, I just wanted to warn anyone who found that doing the Hex edit worked for them DO NOT RUN THE LATEST PATCH. I will update as I work through more, but right now it seems like that patch borks those of use who were able to get things running with the hex edit.

MY SETUP:
Intel i5 750@2.67GHz
20GB Ram
Win 10 Pro 64Bit
Nvidia GeForce GTX 770 Driver 460.79
(Yeah, it's time to build a new system)

You expect people in this thread haven't tried a fix that's been posted over 10 times already? wat
