Cyberpunk 2077 PC Crash Issues

+
Just to be sure, you don't have any audio softwares (such as A-Volute, Nahimic or Sonic Studio) on your Task Manager before launch the game ?
Is yes, disable it/them before launching the game.
Sure I did checked my Task Manager before launch the game, and there are no any audio software.
It says that is a new bug, but it perhaps have no any connection with my problem.

Hi,

My rig:
RYZEN 5950X
RTX 3080 Auros Master [10GB]
64Gb DDR4 RAM
SAMSUNG 980 PRO 1TB NVME + several additional SATA drives

My "experience": - still waiting on a fix...

  1. Bought on GOG using a fresh install of the GOG App.
  2. Installed the current build of Cyberpunk 2077 [inc 1.5 patch] to the SAMSUNG NVME drive
  3. Did a a Verify/Repair and this downloaded an additional 29Mb of "missing data"
  4. Ran the game and intro vids played fine but when I went to "Benchmark" in Settings it crash in the opening bar scene.
  5. After several restarts and "Benchmark" attempts I slowly got a little bit further through the scene - eventually completing a run.
  6. As I started a New Game I chose Street Kid - but then experienced a crash at the character gener screen.
  7. Visted this forum and attepted ALL current workarounds that I could find [please let me know if I have missed any]
    1. Uninstalled ALL GPU drivers and installed a fresh copies
    2. Uninstalled ALL AMD/RYZEN drivers and installed fresh copies
    3. Disabled Ray Tracing [crashed on "Benchmark" task even sooner
    4. Toggled Screen Overlay On/OFF in GOG App
    5. Disabled all non-essential running Apps
    6. Ran CyberPunk 2077 without a Launcher
    7. Ran in Compatibility Mode
    8. Ran in "As Administrator" Mode
    9. Checked but DO NOT have any of those Sound Utilities such as [A-Volute, Nahimic or Sonic Studio]
    10. Changed the directory for all games files to one of my SATA drives instead as a previous post mentoned race condition being an issue so thought perhaps data read/write speeds may be affecting execution of code - but still failed.
    11. Played music via iTunes prior to game boot - for the same reason as above - but still failed.
    12. I even tried to use a HEX editor solution to change "a bit" within the CyberPunk 2077 .exe file from: [554881ECA00000000F2970E8] to [C34881ECA00000000F2970E8] but this must have been from an earlier build as I could not find a match.
I think (like most) I have done my fair share of trying to get this game to run.

A full de-install and re-install is about all I have left...... [for the sake of support - I will update the formn if it works]

I stand by you CDProjektRED and even "liked" your CyberPunk 2077 anniversary vid on Youtube .....

So any chance I can get to play this game?
Post automatically merged:

UPDATE:
Uninstalled ALL files and began a new fresh install.

  • Cyberpunk 2077 [with 1.5 patch] 62.17GB
  • Update 29MB after a Verify/Repair action.

Booted game and ran "Benchmark" which completed first time.
Entered New Game
Choose Normal
Choose Street Kid
..... and then it crashed after 2secs on the Gender Selection screen..... :(

Hm, I can see you tried a lot. You can contact support here:

Did you overclock your PC in some way, because that could also cause problems.
Unfortunately I have no other idea...

Hi,

I have now sent my concerns to CDProjektRed support team - thanks.
No both my CPU and GPU are running at stock settings.
Fingers crossed a rumoured further update will fix things...

I have also sent in a report & images and DxDiag files to them.
Also asked all people I know that owns the game to check / install and see if it works, if it did not work, they also all sent in reports.

So now all we can do is wait...
I do hope CD Project Red fixes this!

Hello I am new on this forum but I wished to try. I used to play CP77, a lot in my previous PC.

Now I had to buy new components and a new motherboard, now I have an error every single time I start the game.

Maybe you already try, but if the game crash direclty when you hit the "play" button, you can try to look if there is any audio software active in your Task Manager (such as A-Volute, Nahimic or Sonic Studio). If yes, disable it/them.

I get an instant CTD when launching the game after I updated to 1.5 yesterday. just uninstalled the game, even formated the ssd and reinstalled it. Same issue. Good to see that after a year the game isn't fixed.

OS: Windows 10 Pro 21H2
CPU: Intel i7-10700k @ 4,8GHz OC
GPU: Asus ROG Strix GTX 1080 TI A11G OC
RAM: G.Skill TridentZ 3600 MHz 32GB
SSD: Samsung 970 EVO Plus M.2 250GB

If yes, try to disable them before launching the game.

Even with the audio hotfix installed, I still Flatline on launching the game. No mods, I've uninstalled and reinstalled (multiple times). All drivers up to date. And before anyone asks, my PC still meets minimum requirements even after the 1.5 update.

Same here - keeps crashing at the Character select screen.
Will I ever be able to play this game on PC.
I'm not even pushing it as I am only running on an old 1080P screen.

I'm now wondering if it is a hardware incompatibility fault.

My rig:
RYZEN 5950X
RTX 3080 Auros Master [10GB]
64Gb DDR4 RAM
SAMSUNG 980 PRO 1TB NVME

Was this after the audio hot fix they just gave out?

I made the mistake of thinking that was the definitive fixed version and installed the new update before checking the internet to see if this really fixed the issue. So now the game will not run.

I will wait a little while but I think I am going to have to install a back up I made of the pervious version and pray that will run. Unfortunately with the way Steam (any launcher really) and theses games "launch" with each other theses days (and with the companies info stored on their servers), just reinstalling all the files for the cyberpunk folder has a good chance not to work. That is why I am willing to wait a little time for CDPR to fix this.

And yes I did do all the steps listed on this topic recommended to try to get the game running. And sent an error report.
I was stupid and installed the "upgrade 1.5" patch so I know it was my own fault.

I have experienced the same game crashing issue on all builds of Cyberpunk - from 1.5 onwards. Never owned it as any other build version.

Finally decided to look into this again. Figured out the issue. I used Vortex for mods and used to use Symlinks mode. I guess patch 1.5 no longer allows Symlinks. Ok, no problem. I uninstalled all mods through Vortex anyway so that shouldn't even be an issue, right? Well, it seems Vortex didn't clean up completely because I did find one Symlink to a mod still in one of the folders. Deleted that and things work again. If the game doesn't support Symlinks anymore then it would have been nice if it simply ignored those instead of just flat out crashing when trying to launch.

Anyway, if you're still having trouble with the crashes check the mod folders for left over bits. Vortex mod manager didn't clean them all up.

Since patch 1.52, has anyone else on PC been experiencing constant game crashes where you need to perform a cold reboot?

Thank you.

Before patch 1.52, I never crashed once, and I have over 1000 hours into this game. So either it's the new patch or the new win updates.
