Cyberpunk 2077: Putting the "Punk" Back Into Cyberpunk

Cyberpunk 2077: Putting the Punk Back Into Cyberpunk

Mike Pondsmith shares his thoughts on what Cyberpunk is about and RED express some of their design philosophies and how they will be implement their ideas in the game.

Not really new info but an interesting read nonetheless :) It gives me hope that CP2077 will be absolutely groundbreaking and I simply can't wait to play it!

It's crazy. RED is developing The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077. If RED was a woman I'd marry her!

Half the internet should be on the verge of nerdgasm over this game, BECAUSE IT'S GOING TO BE INSANE. They are saying all the right things, well mostly. Everytime they mention 'rock and roll' I cringe with a blighted vision of David Bowie clutching a guitar-gun. Other than that, everything seems to be fresh, unique, yet true to the creator's vision. This won't be Cyberpunk on the surface; it's going to involve tragedy, moral decay, corruption and violence. It's going to be equal parts sex and blood, fame and despondencey, wealth and poverty, humanity and nihilism. And last of all, the tech. The tech and the environment we get to play in as we interact with intelligently written characters. This will be Cyberpunk like no other game has been.

I know this game is about the MP and hwat not, but I am really excited to play it in single-player mode. A living and breathing, customizable and reactive RPG experience. Fuck. Yeah.

What, this game is about MP?

Balls :( I'm a SP kinda a guy. Always have been, always will be, so I bloody well hope they put proper effort into the SP part of the game. They have done so far, so I'm not too worried tbh.

Don't worry, Pangaea. I believe it will have both modes. MP and co-op are speculated on the CP2077 forums, but SP is certain for sure.

I may be wrong, but as far as I know, it should have both SP and MP. It's a while since I visited CP forum. A long while actually ç_ç

Uhh shouldn't this be a real Singleplayer Game like the Witcher but with an additional MP mode?

/E/: yep

"It will be a story-based RPG experience with amazing single-player playthroughs, but we're going to add multiplayer features," CDPR managing director Adam Badowski told me.

This will definitely change my roleplaying experience. I'm sick of those medieval Europe games with monsters and magic. Can't wait to get my hands on this

Let's hope MP is something new and creative like Dark Soul's invasion system and not some Team Deathmatch,Free for All,Sabotage or some other generic modes.

Maybe something like a Heist where you get more rewards if you kill your friends at the end.

I wonder what kind of mechanics they are cooking up for the gameplay itself and whether the main character will be fully voiced or not

Considering the game is based on the Cyperpunk PnP game, I would be very surprised if the game didn't have multiplayer.

just because a game is based on a pnp system and setting that does not mean it should have MP (I am not against it and I trust CDPR, I am just saying it is a misconception, by that token all DND and WOD games should have MP and they do not)

Of course not, though neither should people see it as an extraneous element which is only added to favor the general market.

Ultimately it comes down to what kind of game Cyberpunk 2077 turns out to be, but gathering from interviews and such--about CDPR wanting to be as true to the game as possible--MP would be a vital role in it, depending on its execution.
