Cyberpunk 2077 REVIEWS - links & discussion

I'm sorry but this is fells unacceptable, especially right now. Crowb's video is in no way a review of the game, the fact that they merged your thread and almost immediately locked mine looks bad to me. The video at best is a compilation of criticsm and shouldn't belong in an era dedicated for reviews. It doesn't score the game (At best it compares reviews before and after the game was atually launched), it doesn't rates the overall experience from a personal point of view, it just compiled a lot of points from criticsm to comparions and bundled it together.
If they wish to keep the post to a single thread then sure, fine. But once again the video isn't a review, it shouldn't be confined to this thread only.

Yeah. I feel that it's more to try to condense all the criticism in one big post where most of it will go unheard because it's not on the big main page, rather than whatever excuse they might make.

Wonder where all of them are in the retail version. Mature, sure. RPG? Not so. and the rest speak for themselves

I'm looking at those 6 points and I'm looking at the game in it's state and I'm like "they need to polish and ADD so much stuff to this game!"

For real, thinking about the update that we're going to receive in a week or so. What do you think guys? Are we going to receive anything to the systems or something that should've been there at launch or are we just going to receive bug fixes?

(Being realistic, I'm leaning towards it being a ton of bug fixes, then again, one can hope we get some of those locked doors open or those immersive animations and RPG elements back into the game)

I hope we get "something" added because they should.

Also, the video above scratches only the surfface.

They gotta stop putting their devs out there with these interviews where they clearly feel pressured to run defense for the company. It puts them in an unfair position.

The bugs and jank are one thing, but the marketing and the reality of the final product are so disconnected.

Yeah. It's just promising more and more stuff and never scaling it back. The only thing we got were the recent interviews where they said that there would be no car customization and no extra houses for V and even then they knew people would expect them to add this stuff in at some point.

I dunno, did it ever cross the marketing people's head to say that the story is mostly railroading the player with only a few really variations. For real, there's no way to tell Johnny to go fuck himself, remove the chip early and do your thing, there's no other arc for villains or people to mess with V in some way spinning the story in another direction, there's just chip in the head, no way to remove it, here's 5 endings for this one storyline.

Don't get me wrong, 5 endings is fine and one arc can be good but they really made it sound as if you could kill a story-related NPC whenever and that would spiral the story in an entirely new direction.

Like, there's no real working towards an ending, you just go through the motions and you get there eventually and then it's a dialogue option: "Do you want (without spoiling) ending A, B or C?" (and If you do nothing you get another ending).

That was a huge let down. Again, the ONLY mission that can be tackled 8 different ways, has the players make impactful choices before and during the mission and setting up new NPCs to interact with is the Maelstrom mission. Coincidentally the one mission they used to showcase the "depth" of the game setting that level of depth as what players would expect THROUGHOUT the entire game.

No. We aren't going to receive anything of note.

I will be first back here to admit I'm wrong if I am, but I doubt it.

Here’s an interesting review.

Conclusion

All things considered, Cyberpunk 2077 is an awfully mediocre game. It surely doesn’t bring anything new to the table, no cool mechanics to push the genre into a new branch of evolution… regardless of what genre you consider this to be. Everything it offers has already been done elsewhere to some degree and also executed better.

While one can certainly have some mindless, relaxing fun with it, and experience its involving story – I don’t expect many to talk about CP2077 two… five years from now. In that regard, it might share the destiny of Game of Thrones: build up hype and expectations to levels unheard of – only to disappoint so much during the finale that no one wants to talk about it anymore.
