Cyberpunk 2077 User Reviews & Impressions

+
Cyberpunk 2077 is really amazing! I love it!

As someone who didn't (and still don't) follow any development about Cyberpunk on social media, I jumped into the game without any expectation or hype. I was excited, sure. I had heard tiny bits from friends, sure. However, I didn't know what to expect: would it be like The Witcher 3 or a completely new experience?

I've encountered some bugs, but nothing to break my enjoyment. They are annoying but nothing I can't circumvent so far. I trust that these issues will be resolved through patches and updates. Cyberpunk 2077 has DEFINITELY less bugs than whatever Bethesda or EA can release in my opinion, yet these greedy companies still have a strong player base (unfortunately). I hope CD Projekt Red never goes down that path and remain "the good guys" of game development.

Also, I can't afford to play on ultra high settings, but medium settings is still very pretty and the atmosphere of Night City is freaking amazing!! So far, the storyline and the characters are very interesting to follow. A very emotional experience indeed.

Cyberpunk 2077 is definitely an artistic masterpiece: the arts and concepts, the story and characters, the music and sounds.

Thank you for making Cyberpunk 2077. I hope it gets the "labour of love" award someday. (hint hint, *wink wink*)

I am absolutely loving the game so far. Only about 30 hours but it has potential to be an all time favorite for me, I think it will come down to the DLC and if I feel like I can start from scratch and really enjoy the game with a new character. The story line has been top notch.

Pros
Visually stunning
Excellent quest and story line
Love the adult tone of the game
Play the game how you want to - stealth, hack and slash, guns, etc.
No stutter or significant frame drops

Cons
Car mechanics are a bit meh
I would like to see more life like environmental damage

Bugs have been very minimal for me. Standing up on motor bikes, the odd shut down glitch and looted items still showing up. Nothing like I've read about left, right and center...

Utter nonsense. This game doesn't just "slow down" your skill leveling, but stops it on its track completely once it is capped. NAME ME ONE GAME that stops you from leveling a skill once you obtained it. You either level up to obtain the skill, but never obtain a skill and then have its progress completely halted, now do you. You brought up classic games as examples, so you should know that attributes always govern underlying skills via carefully designed formulae and such. Here, the only "governing" is that an attribute caps its skill levels, which is SO simplistic. Also, some of the skill perks already have attribute requirements, so there is really no need to cap the skill level.

The bottom line is this artificially capping of skills does not reward me when I do something legitimately. I'm playing at very hard difficulty and have no problems in combat, as you would expect in a diverse build like mine where every combat tactics works well for me. But I'm not being rewarded for doing things right. And THAT is a problem. In every fight, I could get at least 1000+ XP for whatever weapon/skill I use. So when skills are capped, thousands upon thousands of XP are lost! JUST WAIT TILL you run into this problem and you will no doubt agree with me. As I said, I never had this artificially created problem in many past RPGs.
I will not agree because you are doing something wrong, because you can't read/understand/name other reason and think this needs rework because you can't do it. I can agree that if you do not limit it to stat but get experience penalty to 1000 or more, so you get next to nothing, but will still get some minimal progress. But people will cry even more about it.

Also you seem to not understand that leveling skill gives you additional perk points and some bonuses, which are not even required for you to get perks from the tree if you invested enough stats. So what is the issue again?

Stealth is ridiculously easy to level up because you can dump bodies into containers even AFTER the fight is over, when there is no enemy to evade from. Shouldn't you only get stealth XP when you do something while evading enemies? After a fight, I just take my time dumping bodies into dumpsters and get 100 x no. of enemies free XP, and I can level up stealth in no time. The only problem is that some areas have a severe shortage of dumpsters while some areas have too many! Also, each container can hold as few as 1, but as many as 4 bodies. Another easy-to-level-up skill is breach, since there is no shortage of terminals you can hack, but it doesn't offer as much XP as stealth.

That's "being tidy" XP.

Love the game! just wish there is more things to do once you finish....like maybe random generated gang camps popping up so I can have something to do, and play around with. Can't wait for DLC and future updates!

For myself, alone, I am enjoying it thoroughly. Played my 1st run as a Nomad. Got so invested with the story and the different paths, that when it ended, I felt it took a piece of me with it. The ONLY other game that did that for me was Dragon Age: Origins. I just started my 2nd run this morning as a Street Kid. Will see how this goes. As for any issues, I really didn't have any. (PC player here) The one thing I do NOT like, is how much different the character looks in the actual NC world compared to creation. The hair colours are so off and my face looked like it was run over by a mac truck. Yuck! She was really pretty (even with all her piercings) and I had it perfect. Or so I thought. I rerolled my V 4-5 times before she looked great in game. I adore character creation/customization a LOT in certain games I play. *shrug* I just do. On a side note: I wanted to keep my Joytoy for myself. My Nomad was with only him throughout the entire 1st run. :sneaky: Now to see what I can get going with an in-game romance. :p

As I said, wait till you have skills capped like I do, then maybe you'll understand. I'm leveling up skills to high levels at very hard difficulty so obviously I'm playing the game the right way, so what is it that I don't understand? Should I level up more slowly instead?? I would have to be a bad player to do so, lol. Conclusion: the game should not penalize a good player like me by setting up arbitrary capping of skill levels to "slow down" my earning XP.

I would be foolish if I didn't pick up these free XP lying on the ground, and I could really rack up huge XP in just a few fights. I'm beginning to think this is a flaw in the game's design. Hiding enemies' bodies is something you are supposed to do DURING combat, isn't it? That's the case in all stealth games I've played that let you hide bodies. So you should be rewarded for doing so only during combat.

I completed the main story and all side missions on my street kid character (100+ hours). During that time I found many things I liked and many things I disliked about this game. I have tried to sort my thoughts into the Good, the Bad, and the Meh.

Note: I played this game on PC and did not experience any crashes or game breaking bugs. However, there were plenty of glitches.

GOOD
Map - the highlight of the game
Artwork
Photo Mode
Quests
Quest and Side Job Character Design
Double Jump - completely changes the game
Parkour

BAD

Can't change appearance after start
Cyberwear options are limited
No glowing tattoos
No glowing eyes
No chrome
No hide head/face armor option
Cops "know" whenever you commit a crime and appear out of nowhere
Cops can't drive
Life Paths are way too short
Jackie Time skip was a punch in the gut

MEH
No 3rd Person - not even cut scenes
Phone - can't decline phone calls for a later time
Texting - so damn lazy, why can't I call them back to answer? (did they run out of time to record voice lines?)
Driving is not great
No Car Dealership - texts about buying cars are ridiculous and take up space in Journal
Minimap - doesn't zoom out enough when driving or have option to show path on road
Item description hovers over other items and blocks view of inventory
No favorite option to prevent disassembling or selling items
Tabula E-Rasa - doesn't rest attributes
No subway or train
No flashlight
No braindances
No gun customization
No car customization
No weather
No Delamain service
No AV travel
No meaningful gang interactions
No radio implant
No toggle scanner
No crafting multiple items
Can't clean apartment
Can't buy other apartments
Too many locked doors
Window destruction is terrible
Only 2 joy toys
Only 2 different stealth kill animations

Ultimately, I would say this game is MEH. The map is beautiful but it can't make up for the half-baked game mechanics and cut content. I did have a lot of fun playing the main story and some of the side missions, but I would not recommend this game to a friend in its current state.

1) Add In game Cosmetic changes, I think this is very important considering the cyber fashion trend, it will be nice to change V hair style, make up and eye color and unlock more tattoos maybe one that can glow would be cool. Also customizing our cybernetic cosmetic in color and material type.

2) Add Ripperdoc scene when getting a cybernetic implants. One of the coolest scene during the prologue is sitting on the Viktor chair having my hand being worked on and getting my eyes replaced .

That was so cool, I felt like 6 million dollar man.

It was a bit disappointing that was the only time I'll ever feel that. after that now I just slap new arms and leg like a change of clothes on the go without a surgical procedure not so good for immersion.

3) Improve Npc and Night city Interactions other than quest there's not much to do in Night city I was hoping that we could go to bars or strip clubs, casinos. Have a good time like how Johnny S did in Chippin in quest XD.
While the bars look great on the inside there's nothing to do.
I don't like having to order a drink on a menu instead of having it served on the counter and drink.
it be a cool Idea to interactive with weights in gyms to help increases athletic performance.

4) Add More Romance options for V.

5) Improve the map, clubs like lizzies bar and afterlife should have their own icon so it be easier to find and other locations as well.

I did enjoyed the main story and the game however other than the bugs that needs to be fixed, the game feels incomplete like a lot that was promised is missing.
I want to give my thanks to everyone who worked hard on Cyberpunk2077.

I'm utterly engulfed and taken away by this game. Sure it has its faults, there are bugs, it's unplayable on console.. But hear me out:

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones that has a decent pc and the game runs smooth like butter (I monitor frametime, fps, etc. in game with Rivatuner and use it to lock fps to 100 for better frametime, I have a 144hz monitor but a locked 144 fps is not manageable at all times) and my god does it look beautiful.

I literally just ride around taking it all in for hours on end. Aiding the police with arrests, joining the random shootings that go on constantly, looking at the hand crafted environments, posters, ads, graffiti, hell, even the garbage. Nearing 300 hours played and haven't even gotten to the "point of no return". Can't wait to replay it as a different 'class'. I know I'm not playing it like most people are and have trouble understanding how people just rush through the missions and end up finishing it in 50 hours or so. What a waste.. the game is a work of art, it's just in a terrible state for a large portion of the community. Do note that big patches are coming and Witcher 3 was a mess at launch as well and it did get fixed and supported mods extensively.

The big plus when playing on pc besides all the obvious ones is that there is a large modding community and I now have an ultra zoomed out, larger and transparent minimap (finally!), completely customized many parts of the game, including a fix for the horrible driving mechanics, pedestrian and crowd behavior, cars don't drive like idiots, if I want to sacrifice some fps I can populate the world to a degree where you can't see anything but people and cars, etc. etc.

My heart goes out to my fellow console gamers, I'm not trying to PCMR here, just explaining my experience of the game. Please give it a (second) chance when the patches roll in and take your time. I also play with a (customizable Razer) controller due to RSI and it does help giving that cinematic feel at times.

My only complaint is that the game is way too easy. I started on the hardest difficulty and sure I may die some times but certain builds are just OP and the AI is.. lacking.

I'll add to my mini-review that at the end of the Claire car racing questline you are placed on an overlook. The cars below are exceptionally poor 2D sprite looking things and basically go in a square over and over. It's the only thing I can think of, off the top of my head, that completely ruined the immersion for me. I hope it gets fixed, for a game with exceptional graphics it was very out of character.

Still loving the game and looking forward to the DLC :)

Coming from an older conolse and having played roleplaying games in this setting in my youth I think the world looks absolutely stunning. But the game crashes every 1,5 hours on my PS5. All the bugs, closed doors and always the same one-liners from NPC's make it look unfinished.

Hello, after having completed all the main and secondary missions and more than 200 hours spent in the game I realize that the game is "dead" after having also completed all the NCPD missions and the crimes in progress ... here is what i'm missing in Cyberpunk 2077:

-Dynamic mission system and renewed every 24 hours (after completing the main and secondary missions) like car racing, hostage-taking, terrorist attacks, boxing fights, search and rescue, repair, theft, extraction, sabotage, etc. .
-Improved AI (Pedestrians, enemies, drivers, salesmen etc ...)
- 3rd person view in addition to the "standard" view
-Underground city
-Able to sit down
-More consumables with different stats
-More "open" doors in the city with more possibilities for exploration
-A more consistent NCPD with, among other things, car chases.
-Access to flying cars and Delamain flying car service
-Possibility of having a job (at NCPD or elsewhere)
-Possibility of viewing DS
-More sexy clothes (lingerie etc ...)
-more adult content (paid?)
-a "mod" invasion mission with lots of enemies to kill
-Gang wars in a bigger way
-More missions with the amazing Basilisk tank

Finally I find the game too easy too, even in "very difficult" mode so I find that a more difficult game will only do good to the gaming experience!

Thank you

Could have been better designed as for gameplay. It is difficult to play. ( Okay, admittedly I am not one of the younger gamers either ) I got to the Drill sergeant Tutorial and got stuff and couldn't leave the room. I kept knocking the guard down, but them got shuffled back to start over again saying I was close. I have no clue as to what the heel it takes to move out of there. I will start over and just by pass that as that seems to be the only way to play the game. The other issue thus far is driving. In TW3 when you were on Roach, the mouse was the way you steered. WASD for steering is just plain no good. You have the joy Stick on the console. That should have carried over from TW3 to this thing.

First of all AMAZING game. The biggest con for me was that there was nothing to do after you do every single quest and police jobs. I actually cant play anything else now just lost interest after playing CP. I want to go back to Nightcity but the problem is there is nothing else to do in the game. I hope you have long plans for that game lot of content hopefully online coop mode or even singleplayer where you can do random stuff in the game, better itemisation and a lot more loot to drop/buy/craft. Everything in the game is perfect. Story, all the characters, sound track, graphic, Nightcity it self is amazing 11/10. I run game on pc optimization seems really good. Never had any crash, after the first fixes game run so smooth with RT and DLSS on beside few glitches nothing major, tho technical seems to be the worst side of the game. I feel like game should be released on pc first then console like it was with The Witcher 3. Had 1 bugged quest that I couldn't finish. Beside that I cant wait for fixes and more content for CP77. CDPR Team thx for amazing game and the best of luck with the new year. ;) Hopefully, you can recover lost reputation after that unfortunate release.

Well i didnt find any other place to leave my personal opinion about the game,
there is no option in the support section nor the forum (cant open a thread yet).

After launching the game on new years night, had not even one disappointment.
Just to be clear, im not writing to critique only the honest opinion and ingame experience.
Great story, landscapes, overall design of the environment, more than excellent sound.

I have finished the story three times in a row, first on normal and the rest on hard. For those who are looking for the difference in the starting route nomad\ street kid\ corporate basically, there are none.

YES there were few bugs while running the storyline, but the most disappointing for me were the variation of the end game where you have a breaking save point where you are about to decide to finish the story or stay and continue side quests\ stories, it gives a feeling that your done there is nothing else and there is no point to continue the game. This is the only MAJOR issue in my experience.

After messing around with different endings of the game i have decided to enjoy the sidequests and the game it self, while doing so bugs\lack of options appeared :

-In one mission you have to take a vehicle and drive to point B , after a crash on high way the vehicle could not move and i had no option to get out of it because another vehicle was blocking drivers door if its logic or realistic game i could go out from the trunk or from other doors or at least the option of "unstuck" BUT i had to load the last save and start the whole thing over again.

-Another thing while in middle of a mission fight with a group of mobs exiting my position a mob just appeared out of no where and one shotted me. The issue is not that he one shotted me it is that he appeared out of no where.

-In another mission encountering group of mobs while playing with katana it curtein angle the blade didnt damage anything.

-Sometimes while switching weapons im disabled to throw a grenade, run, attack or use dodge. This bug is over after your switching weapon again it spams the commands that were blocked (if you have used twice a nade it will throw two nades etc)

-While escaping police i have jumped from one floor to one below, on that floor there was no way out and i had no option to jump out of the floor so iv got stuck with bunch of police just spawning on that floor.

-Sometimes while doing a mission the soundtrack is stack till i will reload the game or reload a save.

-Sometimes a picture of a selected item from the inventory stays until a reload.

I know hopefully, these things are going to be patched but the 3 major issues for me are

*The end game story like i mentioned before leaves a weird taste that there is no point to continue playing the game when your given an option by the story to finish it or first of all finish your side quests\ stories,it just feels bad and wrong because the game itself divides into two major things co-op and story just like gta or border lands, etc.

*There must be a solution to optimize the game, and there are plenty of examples that it is possible to do so. Do not get me wrong it is playable on 50~75 fps but i know it can do so much better than that just by adjusting\coding it or w\e the name is for it.

*The most annoying thing about the gameplay it self rather the performance or anything else is the picking drops up, it so frustrating to find the right angle the right position to pick up the item you'd like to IF IT IS EVEN POSSIBLE because in certain situations there are no angles or positions that will allow you to pick the thing sometimes after the drop the item disappears into broken terrain or something.

And for last it would be much appreciated if we could run with 3~6 friends, maybe it won't but its not a major turn off.
For overall the game is amazing and cant wait for it finall patched version and it DLC's, thank you for the story and the time spent on it, and for the people out there checking this game out you should consider if the story and the new open-world will excite you and worth your time&money if not i do highly recommend not to give up on this game and wait until a confirmed major solid patch will be announced.

I'm 43 years old and been playing video games since I was 7. I just wanted to post here to thank the development team for a fantastic job in creating this beautiful world we get to play in. My favorite game of all time was the original The Legend of Zelda and I think Cyberpunk 2077 just knocked it off it's podium. I'm astonished at the level of detail this game has and it's just the beginning :)
