I am disappointed. I really am. Part of me saw that coming, but I never thought it could be THAT bad...
I have 3 platforms. Ps4, PS4 Pro and even bought a PS5 just for this game. My most anticipated game in years.
In PS4 the game is literally unplayable and it is in such a state that it really feels insulting that people have to pay money to get this horrible, horrible experience. The framerate is unacceptably bad. I mean I cannot even fathom how someone releases his game like this. I get that PS4 has an insane install base, I get that Cyberpunk has a huge budget and I get that CDPR has to make some profit, but at what expense? Isnt CDPR the "good guy Greg" of the industry? Pro gamer? Against DRM and many other things?
PS4 users paying 60 and 70 euros for this game in the state it is in, is in direct contrast to being respectful to this large community. Much more when CDPR staff goes on record to say that "with latest patch it is a different game on consoles:... I mean it is insulting. If the system cant handle it, do the brave thing and dont release it. If that is not an option then delay the damn thing even more.
PS4 Pro Version feels like at the moment is the most stable one... if you can even include the word "stable" in a post about Cyberpunk... But it is more stable than what it is in PS4 and PS5. The framerate is better than PS4 ofcourse but the resolution is perhaps the lowest it has ever been in this console. After Miles Morales this game looks incredibly bad at points and yes I know this is a far far more complex game than what Miles Morales is, but still it shouldnt look so blurry and run so bad.
PS5 uses backwards compatibility to essentially "brute force" the ps4 version and has an unlocked framerate. Said framerate is mostly 60 but can and it will dip hard (look at the market section close to your apartment). The resolution is ofcourse the absolute worse because it is the same as PS4 Pro. But this is not why I think the PS5 version is even worse than PS4 Pro. The reason it is that it crashes CONSTANTLY. When driving from one area to another the game will crash. Period. It happened like 10 times to me just yesterday in a 3 hour session. After ACT1 of the storyline where more areas of the world are unlocked, travelling from one area to the other will break the game eventually. Also PS5 users dont even get a resolution option like XBOX users do which is a bit weird as I dont think I ever heard of a similar example ever before.
And ofcourse all versions have an astonishing amount of glitches and bugs... all this... ALL OF THIS after numerous delays and an apparently exhausting development process.
I have witnessed a lot of problematic releases (Witcher 3 was also among them) but never such a bad bad BAD release. You guys topped Ubisoft and AC: Unity.
And it pains me to say this. It really does because this thing, what I got here... somewhere in there, is perhaps the greatest game of this generation. I played a main mission and I was hooked so bad and immersed like never before... until the game literally started breaking down and ruining the experience.
The city... OMG the CITY! It is such an incredible thing to marvel at. The sense of scale, the vibe, the atmosphere. There is literally nothing else out there like Cyberpunk... but as it is now it is really unplayable. It really RUINS everything.
Look. I know your support is always exemplary. I know it. And I know that you will eventually fix all the problems and that some day, some time, you will release a next gen patch. But this feels like it is MONTHS away. So many people who are excited are going to evnetually push on past the glitches and bugs and the horrible framerate just to finish this game. But they wont experience what you intended or promised to deliver.
I dont know why it keeps happening with you. Same happened with Witcher 3. You seem to aim at the stars and lose track of the development process, that leads to delay upon delay, upon delay, until you cant delay it anymore and just decide to get the game out and fix it at a later date.
This is unacceptable and quite frankly embarrassing. People are essentially BETA testing this game at the moment. What is installed in our drives is not even the same game that there is in the disc we bought...
Amidst a pandemic, lockdowns and such, a game like Cyberpunk was the "escapism" I was looking for. To immerse myself in its world and let my mind slip from the shitty times we live in. I knew that PS4 wasnt going to cut it and was afraid that PS4 Pro was not going to meet my expectations and I went ahead and got myself a PS5, believing that I am covered. I will brute force the crappy framerates. But no. The game had to crash continuously and I had to experience glitches and bugs every 10 minutes or so... and it had to look blurry as hell and have crazy amounts of pop in and the same graphics as a PS4...
I am losing my trust in you and I am sad to say this, but you are starting to lose my respect as well...
Thank you for listening me out and sorry for the long post.
PS: This might seem like a typical rant, but it isnt. It is constructive criticism so that next time you wont repeat those same mistakes and that you will respect people's expectations and money, a bit more.
PS2: Happy holidays to everyone.
