Cyberpunk 2077 User Reviews & Impressions

Behind VDB quest makes only sense story-wise imo in that you perhaps got Sognbird's attention piercing the blackwall to contact Alt, otherwise it feels rushed and out of place. I'm not sure if that's mentioned and I missed it, but that's my assumption for why they placed it there.
I don't remember this being mentioned in any of the dialogues but that's my assumption as well - your "interaction" with blackwall put you on SoMi's radar.

I am a diehard fan and bought a disc copy Day 1. Got Phantom Liberty Day 1. Been loyal to the game. Have a suggestion for future update:

It would be awesome to be able to play pool at El Coyote Cojo. Maybe a dart board? Would this be possible?

PS - The whole "We couldn't find a place for romance and sex, especially when uwuwuwuwu" doesn't cut it, especially after the dancing scene with Alex that was totally going somewhere. Heat of the moment romps are a trope in spy thrillers. Mid.

It is the most confusing decision CDPR made around the expansion - especially given their reputation and the theme that they chose.

I mean I am pretty positive I know why they made the decision. I can't really post about it because saying the reason is a 'no no'. But I will say that I think the decision to leave romance/sex out of the expansion was a really stupid one. Especially given how much the romance lines added to both of The Witcher 3 expansions - both because of the people you romanced and the tie-in's to the base games major romance options.

It also would not shock me if we see less and less romance in CDPR games moving forward in general.

Yeah, it's a concern many of us share as well. The irony is palpable.
If that truly the case then the next iteration may be a very unfortunate departure.

Furthermore, it's another reason why I"ve said before this game will not happen again. Either they'll set their sights lower, internal regulations will nix entire systems/themes, or they'll hone in on specifics while the tertiary stuff goes neglected. Either way - I think there's going to be 'that one thing' for different people that suffers as a consequence of them learning a lesson. And it's probably not the right lesson I fear. Here's to hoping for the best.

Yeah - and like you said the scene with Alex seemed to be going somewhere. What happened to her would have had far more impact if it had - or at least if the option was there. It also opens up the route for you to be the heartless James Bond type that just slept with someone for information or leverage as well.

And why did it? Why would it? Is it yet another one of those stories where "nobody can do this" and few sequels forward everybody and their aunt is going behind the blackwall?

Or perhaps because they couldn't add romance for all the orientations with new characters, and didn't want to elevate one above others. Lets face it, that would've caused ruckus about favoritism.

ps. I have not finished PL.
pps. The Ubisoft method is making all romance options romancable by everyone. See how useful it is at times like this?

Only if that one, or more, character had a distinct orientation as the base romances do. Alex could have easily been bi. I would agree with them that a romance leading to something like a Panam style ending is a bit much, but Alex being up to hop in the sack with the player and more joytoys(seriously guys) is a very reasonable ask.

Yep. In Witcher 3 terms...

Don't think anyone is asking for Yennefer or Triss. They are asking for something like Shani.

She gives you her gun and sends a gift(haven't checked it out actually) to your apartment. Speaking of apartment - did they add a goddamn stash to the safehouse in Dogtown yet? Or am I just stupid/have a glitched game? Every time I go there I search desperately hoping that I've somehow over looked it and can't find one.

Hello, 1st time player here.

To the devs team and everyone who worked for the game, Thank you and Congrats.
The game is really amazing.
Very surprised by the game quality and details.

I'm a huge fan of the Ghost in The Shell universe, specially the 1995 movie. Cyberpunk2077 is clearly the legacy of this.
So happy by the easter eggs, references and inspiration from this legendary manga.
You did so well and pushed the genre a little further with your own style, work perfectly.

Just Thank you for all this and please continue to get inspired by this manga.

Big up to the ART Teams and Sound design teams. insane works.

Sometimes i really feel the same contemplative moments you can experience in the movie. Excellent vibe.

That's all!
YOU'RE BREATHTAKING.

A couple of other notes as I continue to reflect:
  • Mr. Hands and the gigs in the expansion put the other fixers, gigs and districts to shame. In the sequel I hope they embrace this - that every fixer has kind of an overarching goal, story or aim for the district that they are in... or even just for themselves. I didn't really get that vibe from any of the other fixers in the base game - they mostly just came across as quest givers with quirky personalities. Where as Mr. Hands played a major role when you were in his district.
  • It was nice to be receiving so many text messages and stuff from people. I think in future games CDPR should lean into that more as a way to deliver additional content. It seems like it is insanely easy to develop and adds a lot of flavor. I also wouldn't mind if, even in Cyberpunk 2077 - but also future games, there is some kind of indicator of who has new text/calling options available.
  • On that note with being able to buy apartments, homes, etc. it certain seems like you should be able to put whoever your romance option is up in one (or multiple) of them. It seems like an easy opportunity for CDPR to add a lot of extra content with them after their quest lines are done. You could go back to your place to find them cooking, sleeping, watching TV, etc. There could be a couple extra 'romance scenes' around it and stuff like that. Seems like an easy win for minimal dev work.
  • Vehicle combat and the police system in this game are passable - for me mostly because I don't have much of a desire to interact with the police system until end game when I am just donking around. But if they are going to go very 'car heavy' in terms of transporation I think they should probably prioritize these things more in the sequel.
  • Life paths continued to feel a bit shallow - especially after playing Baldur's Gate 3. Just the flavor text and stuff like that in BG3 for whatever class, background, etc. you pick is pretty incredible. For Cyberpunk I never really felt like a 'Nomad', 'Street Kid' or 'Corpo' once the game starts. I just feel like I'm V - the same V regardless of whatever hour long opener I selected... especially the further you get away from said opening scene.
  • One other thing that was a nice little addition to the game was the bonus you got for sleeping and for drinking coffee. Added a reason for me to go back to my places and sleep, mess with the wardrobe, etc. A small thing - but it added a lot.

Agree with all of the above. Ideally stuff like this, in the event of another "oh, look, you should haul ass through the main story", will be open to you from the start as was originally intended per comments from one of the quest designers. As of now, Apartments specifically are one of those things where I felt compelled to ignore the main story once more.

Yeah, CDPR dropped the ball here quite hard. Right now it's only present for Muamar's car boosting gigs and if you want to 'GTA' the game for a bit with the NCPD. It's certainly not something that approaches it's full potential by a long shot... really peeved NPC's won't mount their vehicles and chase you as was stated mere weeks ago as well.

For the sake of it, if you're willing at some point, roll back to 1.63 some time and I'll hook you up with a functioning copy of the Vehicle Combat mod. The name is a bit of a misnomer as it does so much more - gangs can call in reinforcements, NPCs have to witness and call NCPD to report your actions(they'll even notify them of you walking around with a dead body at times) for them to arrive, and all this ties together well depending on the settings you choose; turning even the most basic gigs into a potentially fatal encounter if you decide to 'big dick' your way through the front door. Before you know it, gangers in vehicles and the NCPD are on their way with each calling in more goons to the point the street may be a full-blown warzone with Maxtac soon to follow and wreck everyone.

I'm looking into making it work with 2.0 as a few others are now.

Honestly I would hope they just drop Lifepaths entirely considering the work that goes into them vs. lacking payoff. Flavor text from attributes and skill checks make a greater difference already imo. They could really keep the same text options just not call them out and the results are really the same. Taking a page Starfield's 'trait' system is something I would recommend though. Have something that dynamically colors your experience whether it be you're wanted by the NCPD, have good/bad reps with certain gangs/corps from the start, etc.

More meaningful buffs as you called out - namely something like Drugs of Night City mod would be a real improvement imo.. Also toxicity and/or addiction. Just having a cooldown feels lame.

Agreed. If you are going to do life paths and make them enjoyable - it seems like you really would have to go all out with them. And I don't think CDPR or any other major developer is really willing to do that. It was one of the shocking things about Baldur's Gate 3, in all honesty. Most devs want you to be able to experience most of what they develop in a single play through. Larian put in a TON of stuff you would miss out on if you didn't play certain quests, make certain decisions, romance certain characters, play certain classes/races, etc.

I'm not sure CDPR is willing to do that. But they did some of it with The Witcher 3 - so maybe! But yeah - unless they make massive improvements it is probably better to just drop it and instead focus on enhancing the game in other ways, like (as you said) with attribute based dialogue options and stuff.

Hello :) I just noticed this forum post while looking for a place to give my review of Phantom Liberty. I would say overall that some of the things they did was interesting but overall I felt it was a dissapointment. I will try to summarize

- I understand that life in general doesn't always have happy endings but it seemed to me, no matter what choice you made, you always ended up with a crappy ending

- The game had ghosting and pathing issues. There was 2 missions in which my character got stuck in the flooring. Took me awhile to realize it was because of the cables running along the floor. It was the cause of the uneven terrain connection. Avoided those, problem solved on that end of things. Then I noticed there was times I switched keys really fast and the game didn't respond

I have a Hyper X gaming keyboard and I ran software tests. So I know the ghosting was not on my end. The game clearly was unable to keep up with my rapid key changes. Once I detected that as well, I worked around it by giving the game more of a window to respond. That fixed it yes but I shouldn't of had to do things that way. This kind of issue is something I would expect in a beta test. Not a 120 + million development cost game

- I was a Tech weapon build pre 2.0. I decided to do it again and found the changes to be annoying. It wasn't just the fact they turned it in to a time game, it was also because it was inconsitent. There was times that my Burya would penetrate a wall while the Nekomata wouldn't. I had Legendary C-Thru mods on both so I think it is a base gun issue

- The game clearly wasn't tested in Very Hard mode. About the only thing scaling properly were grenades. Enemies were never fair.. Infinite block, infinite dodge.. No cooldown, no stamina costs, etc. If you put a hard difficulty in to a game, it is suppose to be a challenge to a point where you have to use tactics or wits to defeat the enemy. That wasn't present here. Enemies were just in your face all the time, and could take hits to the face as if they were a Main Battle Tank. I will be sure to post more in depth in Gameplay soon

- Certain new cyberware didn't make sense like the Iconic Para Bellum I think it was? It was the one with +32% armor or something. No base armor on it so there wasn't much of a return in the investment. Math wise, it was better to go with other Cyberware

- I think I will end the reply on that there was a lot that could of been done better. I appreciate the attempt to do things differently. Most game studios would rather abandon a game or not give it a good try. CP certainly tried and I can see that

Cyberpunk 2077 beats out Horizon Dawn for open world exploration and engagement. That's a lot coming from me who thoroughly enjoyed Horizon Dawn and considered it one of the PS5's top games.

I really loved this game from the start. I have the original pen and paper rpg books, and when a real game based on that universe was announced I almost could not believe it.

That all being said, I cannot really give a review of PL. Why? Even though I have played this game countless times on both the PS AND PC. I just cannot bring myself to level up enough to even start the xpac. I hate the new netrunner gameplay (netrunner WAS by far my favorite way of playing) so, so, so very much. Hate it, hate it.

I play for an hour, and I want to just smash my controller against the wall. I keep thinking about how much I loved this game before the 2.0 patch and now it just feels ruined. I was so much looking forward to PL, and now I think I may never actually play it. I find myself trying to find if I can just download the 1.63 version of this game.

Just sad and disappointed with the game.

I'm starting my phantom liberty playthrough tonight,
CDPR giving me some garbage clothing and highlighting it as "My Rewards" really screams echoes of how disappointing this game has been.
As individuals, I hope they never recover from the shame. Literally embarrassed their whole country lol.

I'm not an NPC soI don't give this game points for having Keanu or Irdris. At the end of the day, the writing has always been embarrassing/cringe/sophomoric. Don't get me started on Lizzy Wizzy. Worst VA performance since the original Resident Evil.

Gameplay is fun sometimes though! (except for the fact everyone plays 1 of 2 builds with literally zero exceptions)
