Cyberpunk 2077 User Reviews & Impressions

+
This is one of the few games I've played where the endings presented me with deeply nuanced, emotionally complex set of experiences, rather than your typical super hero type/lone wolf "happy ending".
I actually really appreciated this and is part of the reason why I became so attached to it. I think I really needed something like this in my library of games.

Indeed, I've thought over and over again about how you could possibly deliver a Disney happy ending while respecting the game's narrative themes and I really don't see it. It would turn the whole game into junk food and I'm very glad they didn't after putting so much into a narrative that is all about having to make choices.

Why are all the endings so depressing?
True
No ending is truly happy lol

On my 5th play through I did Reed’s ending (post dlc) and hated it the most.
No spoilers
I always cry when I finish this game.

I’ve spent too many hours, on too many games.
I don’t love any game as much as I love this one.

on play though 6, I just realized I never finished Kerry’s quest line before lol

The games world building and stories are unique and enjoyable.

Features and options in the game are still somewhat lacking and existing features don’t always work properly.

Such as the color customization feature not working on all vehicles and the smart driving option constantly crashing vehicles and triggering the police.

The game is still missing the most requested feature New Game plus, despite mods developing their own unofficial versions of it.

Players like me who play the game on a cloud service don’t have access to mods.

And without NG+ my cyber ware, weapons and cosmetics that I earned through out my initial play through won’t carry over into a new play through.

I think I’d be more psyched for this game if they’d add NG+

That’s the one thing I really want.

No game has ever affected me this deeply, first in Summer 2021 then after returning to play Phantom Liberty in 2025, it delivered then and (more) now.

The core dilemma is a universal theme. and as a trans individual, having someone's else consciousness in your brain could be construed as a Trans allegory (if you paly as female V). Regardless, I'm grateful I can play it on my shitty GTX 1050 3GB to this day, albeit a console experience. the HDD mode feature allows for objects to load even if they're low poly. I can't blame the game since I'm well below the minimum (1060 6GB) but glad it still runs. I dabbled with mods early on but after so many updates and added features there is no need for them imo.

Here's hoping the sequel gets the same amount of love and releases at the developer's request without death threats by "fans". Let them cook as long as they want, see you in 2030 chooms.

It's pretty much the only game i'm playing, so i have quite a lot to say.

1. The world is absolutely incredible. It's the only game in which i spend literal hours at a time just walking and looking at things. I just wish that exploration wouldn't be punished so harshly. Since the removal of Guts' ability to cancel fall damage (or at least, make it extremely hard to pull off), having fun climbing onto high things became more of a chore than having fun. Now i have to plan a route to get down from things or get extremely annoyed trying to use Guts. Climbing Megabuilding H10, then jumping down from the roof onto the street is just not as fun anymore.

2. The weapons are interesting, but there are way too few "fun" ones. The Borderlands series does weapons a lot better, by adding hilarious ones with quirky abilities. Yes, there is Clippy, Comrade's Hammer, Guts (before the nerf) and others, but there are a bit too few in my opinion.

3. In a game this advanced, i simply do not understand why we don't have AI-Generated NPC conversations and sidequests. Feed the game's map into ChatGPT, add a little lore and ask for a completely new mission. I tried numerous variations of this and all of them seemed cool, especially because ChatGPT gets a little creative with the underused areas of the game. I mean, even some chinese MMOs have AI-Generated NPC conversations.

4. The newly added car customization feature isn't really a collector's dream. Even if you equip one unique CrystalCoat and have 4 others saved, there are too many unique CrystalCoats for each car type. Adding a garage in which you could collect all digital swatches, then equipping 4 at a time on each car would have been a more elegant way to do it. Or simply swapping the slots around... 4 generic CrystalCoats, 8 unique CrystalCoats. Many players want to collect every single thing in the game, and stuff like this just blocks these players to 100%+ their game.

Overall, for me it's a 9/10. As i said, it's the only game i'm playing. And i'm really glad it supports framegen and the latest FSR, because otherwise i'd have to lower the graphics settings on the GTX 965M i'm playing, and i can't play this game at anything other than max settings (no RT, obviously), it wouldn't look like it's supposed to. It's, by far, the best optimized game i've ever played. It's so complex, yet it works perfectly fine on almost 11 year old hardware, AND maxxed out.

Well... For a start, this game was made well before ChatGPT even existed.

Would be hard for them to use something that literally didn't exist. Let alone before it had gotten improved (So it wasn't just pumping out pure gibberish and/or racial slurs) and made publicly available.

Like, even the 2.0 update and PL was still well before ChatGPT.

Secondly, AI usage is still a wildly devisive thing. Many people are vehemently against AI usage, especially if you're asking it to replace actual VA's and writers (Such as creating new missions). Every company that has attempted such a thing has been met with significant backlash for doing so.

Thirdly, even though AI can speed things up... It still takes time for a person to properly vet it to ensure that it fits into the game and narrative. Then of course actually coding in the mission parameters and making sure it all works. CP2077 was made under a lot of crunch, hence its historically poor release and the double down of trying to fix everything for 2.0. Even IF they had AI, they wouldn't have had the time to actually use it, despite its time efficiency benefits.

I admit, I've been impressed more than once by what AI has come up with, especially in the joke department. I think we'll invariably see it used in the future, but I really doubt it will ever take the place of an actual artist creating a piece meant for more than simply achieving an end.

Who said anything about NFTs?
I started & finished my first playthrough as Corpo out of curiosity.
Mostly because it's completely against my nature after years of employment/interaction.
It got me thinking like a Corpo when it came to my experience in Night City
