I would also like to see realistic armor for the Female avatars . . .. more skin showing does NOT equal higher armor class which seems to be the case for Alot of games with the option for a female character

I'm not really familiar with the Cyberpunk setting, so I can't really talk about what I'd like to see in terms of things from the PnP game, but in general RPG terms I'd like:

Indepth visual character customisation. I specify visual here because I don't mean things like long ass talent trees, I mean things like gender selection, changing hair style and colour, facial sliders etc.

Voiced PC. This isn't a must for me, but I much prefer playing as a character who is voiced than one who is not. I feel it helps the story a lot when all parties are speaking and one isn't just answering everyone silently.

Meaningful romances. Meaningful character relationships in general really, but I'm bringing up romances here specifically because it was something I didn't feel was handled well in The Witcher. Meaningless sex is fine, but I'd like to form relationships with characters over the course of the game that change depending on my actions. Rivalries, friendships, romantic partnerships, I'd like to experience them all through the course of the game. Basically the stuff BioWare is good at.

Same gender content. If the game's going to let you have lots of meaningless straight sex I'd also like to have lots of meaningless gay sex. If the game's going to allow indepth straight romances I'd also like to have indepth gay romances.

Speaking of straight sex, if there's the option for the PC to be female, I'd hope there would also be pleanty of opportunities for her to hook up with guys just as Geralt was able to sex all the women in The Witcher.

For the combat to be action based. First person shooter, third person shooter, third person action, doesn't matter as long as it's real time and I actively take part in it. I don't want a turn based or psudo turn based game. I don't want a game where whether or not my attack hits is determined by a dice roll. If I aim at an enemy and attack, my attack hits, there's no "oh I didn't roll a +10 so my attack missed" bull. Similarly, whether I or an enemy dodge an attack should be determined by us actually moving or of the way of an attack and whether or not we block should be determined by us actually blocking, in the players case this would involve pressing a button to block.

No class restrictions for things like weapons or armour. As I said, I don't know much about Cyberpunk's setting, but for example, if I want to play a cop who runs around with two swords coming out of my arms or a teched up psycho who uses a gun I should be able to. Heck, if I want to play a character that hold a pistol in one hand while the other hand has a blade coming out of it like that woman in the trailer I should be able to.

Clothing has no stats, or if it does there's some sort of appearance tab. I want a wide range of clothing I can use to customise my characters looks and I don't want to be restricted by stats. I don't want to get a cool looking trenchcoat or something and then not be able to use it later in the game because it has terrible stats. I don't want to have to wear clothing I may not like the look of just so I can have the right stats to complete certain higher level parts of the game.

Some sort of multiplayer. Either traditional pvp deathmatch type stuff, some sort of co-op thing or maybe something a bit more inventive like you see in Demon's/Dark Souls, where players can leave you messages and you see their ghosts running around.

Continued support for the game after launch. DLC packs and expansions, and after they stop coming bug fixes still keep coming if the game needs it. If in 5 years it's found that there's a bug in the game the developer releases a patch to fix it.

Some sort of mod support.

I wanted to see a prison where we can actually enter and do quest. Prisoners roaming free around the city would be awesome too, like in arkham city where we can actually see lots of criminals around. underground tunnels/subways I presume are already considered since on the teaser trailer we get to see the characters on a train.

hello, well first of all, I'm not an rpg gamer, but I've played some titles, which I dont really liked. Thats why I'm not into rpg games, but when I saw the trailer, I was completely amazed, therefore I got into this game, investigating about 2020, then when I realized that this was gonna be an rpg too, it didnt matter because i know this game is going to be awesome, and for that I want and I'll try to help, as i said, i dont really play that much of rpg, but if it helps i would love ths game to be full of action, i dont know, watching the trailer gave me that feeling of action and a fluid gameplay, keeping the bases of the rpg genere but also trying to attack and defend in a dynamic way, not just attack, wait for your turn, defend, wait again, attack again etc. dynamism i think its about that, about giving this awesome experience of thinking your way out but also having your mind bussy keeping you alive while you do it. i dont know much about the 2020 story, i saw this video with Mike Pondsmith, where he talks about how you gave him exactly what he wanted and in the way he wanted. i think that's awesome, to follow the path he build and to care so much about the fans. i loved the trailer, and im loving the game, i have this feeling that this is going to be the perfect rpg and i will wait the necessary time for that to be done.

Everything was totally 80's

Hair styleists and fashon designers ruled the world, spandex and leather everywhere.. Breakdancers with boomboxes, hookers with impossably big hair, digital graphity on the ruined walls of some bombed out building. Soot, smog, and ciggerette smoke all adding deep haze to the glowing neon limelight of the world. Masses of people drugged by the cheap vaneer of the perfect life advertised by the companies responsable for they very misery.

It was a strange place indeed....

In this world technology had outgrown humanity, in many forms of the word. Sexaroids, machines built to serve only as sexual playthings, were mass produced and included with an Artifical Intellegence for greater user enjoyment. As demand increased, so did user feedback, and soon various models flodded the market, in both gender and age. The TRISTEN model offered by Digital Lifestyle (a wholely owned sudsideray of HyperionCorp) is designed to look like a 9 year old. It is the company's best selling model 3 years running.
Meanwile one of the net's best programs features convicted felons fighting to the death in dozens of forms.
New wave holoscreans can actually reach out and touch you. Physicaly.
Digital graphitti. Both ways.
Stories float around the net about some kinda ghost. Some poor vegitable with a fully working mind, guess the doctors took pity on it. Gave it a datajack, and next thing you know, pluged in and hacking like a pro. How hard could it be to upload yourself? its not like there isn't space for all that data. But that can't really work, right?
Right?

just heard about this today...

As someone who has played the PnP version since the 90's, and own most of the books, this is a dream come true.

and here are my first thoughts.... more will come as i read and think more...

What i would like to see -

  • Lots of humanity choices. I want to be able to ride up and down on my humanity scale, changing my responses to be limited to what my humanity is at.
  • Being able to go as much cyborg as possible.
  • Tons and tons of fun and different upgrades to the body.
  • A bunch of software for the web.
  • If this is a primarily single player game, i would love it, if it worked a bit like never winter nights. You are able to invite other people into the game, and you can host and build your own servers.
  • Tons of romance options.
  • Bodycount lottery.
  • being able to take different jobs, security guard, police officer, psychosquad, bodyguard, and others, that brings their own stories.
  • Randomly generated missions and stories, so you can keep on playing.
  • The ability to take over a company, so you can expand and manage if that's your kind of style.
  • slow motion combat, to really make you feel that you are speeded up, and is a true hero/anti hero. (not that 5 second limit style, but permanent slow motion combat, where the other AI's speed, depends on their implants)
  • Chips. I want to be able to skill in chips.
  • Extensive skill system.
  • The ability to win through all sorts of ways. Not just combat, but also sneakiness, charisma, talk, bribe and other things. 10 ways to solve each mission.
  • a mission planner, a bit like the swat games?
  • when replaying, the ability to have your old character be an NPC in the next game.
  • Acrobatics. The ability to climb walls, run on walls, jump high and far and other things.
  • penetration of all items in the world. the better the armor pen on the bullets, the more items they go through.
  • the ability to blow holes in walls and buildings. Why hack the door if your skill sucks, but you got explosives?
  • awesome fast paced combat music
  • hearing bullet casings hit the concrete when firing heavy caliber guns.
  • go clubbing every night
  • forming simple friendships with random npc's that are just there for flavour. Like the guy you always buy a beer in the club because he's lonely. See him evolve because he hang's with you in the club, become more open and liked.

You pretty much described close to the perfect rpg, ive underlined where I completely agree, most of the otherstuff would be rather neat, however it could take a lot of programming to be able to form friendshios with random NPC's, id still find the fun in doing so, it would also add to the replayability, same goes for the career options as well as adding former PCs as NPCs when replaying the game. It would greatly improved the replayability.
Im a huge fan of being able to complete an RPG in several different way, however I do understand that some professions would require more combat/stealth/talking than others - sadly most modern high hyped RPGs focus mostly on combat and then rp elements as secondary.
As for slow motion combat, id guess it would follow the players implants in regards to how it works (and ofc check the opponents implants).
The BGM soundtrack and effects sounds, ofc needs to be top notched :p
Same with the visuals, however seems that you have that pretty much prepared according to the trailer.

In addition a large (huge) selection for customizing your character (appearence, gender and as suggested above implants, impact on story etc.).
And please, give loads of interaction options, not just "conversation wheels"

Some thoughts on the Dream RPG

Hello to all the other Cyberpunk enthusiasts, new or older ones.

Having read many responses to this thread, I can see that many amazing gameplay ideas have been posted, some more original than others, but in general many aspects of the game have been addressed. Therefore I will just post some thoughts about the way I would like to be immersed in a "dream" RPG.

I have noticed that the games I mostly enjoy allow me to experience the character not only by the perspective the games story gives me about the character, but also by the way the games environment is affected by the characters actions and achievements.
I really like it when I can easily start making up fictional situations in my mind, when I am roaming around the landscape, I like thinking that maybe I am notorious in the area I am entering or that the good deeds I have accomplished last time I visited are remembered.
I do not only play a Role playing game because in real life I do not have special abilities, but also because in real life I can not become a gang leader , cannot experience what is like being an addicted psycho,or maybe I don't have the chance to help others in more ways that I can imagine, so being given the chance to do so as much as possible could really change the experience of a videogame.
A really improved and new notoriety or popularity mechanic (cause it has been done in Fable,Skyrim and other games, but I hope there is room for improvement) that changes the way a player character is perceived by the A.I. could really add to a game that is set in a dystopian SOCIETY, a city were some places are richer others are poor, in others you can go in low profile and in others you are in constant danger of random violent events.

We shouldn't experience this grim future only by the dark futuristic cityscape, but also by the city's social structure. It is the people that have shaped that future and we should be able to see their will to escape their mortal bodies their tendency to become transplant addicts, their fear of psychos, their gratitude that police just took care of a psycho on a rampage.

I am stressing the A.I. issue cause I would really love to return to the game after I have finished the main story line. The possibility to do things in the city after the main events have been completed, but in a way that still feels alive would be a huge satisfaction. In many games the final act gives the game a feeling like it has reached a dead end. Of course a game story can not be perpetual and endless, but through fresh game mechanics a player could be given the chance to just advance his character in his own mind, using the game as an extent of his imagination, a tool for experiencing the world of Cyberpunk 2077.

Those are some thoughts for now, hope that I did not tire you with my use of English.

In any case I love that cdprojekt took this initiative to bring to life this amazing cosmos of Cyberpunk, good luck with the project and I am sure that in the end we will go through a really powerful game experience. Can not wait to see more.

Cheers

I agree with most of everything you have put in here for sure! Now I HATE compairing games together but if i had to say what id like this game to play out in, would be a mix of Far Cry 3 (for its open world freedom and interaction to everything and everyone.) I like the idea to talk to people and get them on your side, persuad them, coax them, make everyone in the game optionable to speak to and interact with in a somewhat larger scale. (like Bringerofsouls had mentioned) You had mention your going to keep the game DARK dark dark, id say give it your dark look of a 2020 cyber era global city feel but with an overshowdow feel over the whole city so its always black out, damp, cold, the feeling of utter alone-ness right until something pops out to kill you or just ask for some help...
Not only does the game need to form and flow correctly but i think the story behind why you are wqho you are and how your planning to escape whatever is going on in the city but for whatever the reason is it should feel like your disisions are your own, kind of like the first Fable, Skyrim, any Fallout game. another game to get the feel of how dark and alone you are would be DayZ. That is a scary game to play....but you also want to keep people on this edge of the seat i may die at any time thing but i need to keep going to hopefully find a safe place thing going, like an Uncharted game (which were awesome games) if you could somehow mesh all of the awesome quirks from all these games and combine them into a dark futur New York (any big city) where your fully customizable and have Skill trees as well, so you can allways be upgrading and improving, then you would truely have an awesome game in the making. def will be keeping my eye on this game to see how it turns out.

The ability to call NPCs or services on your smartphone/cyberphone and actually have a short back and forth conversation with them. Maybe topical, maybe not.

RANDOMIZED background audio dialogue, not the same ten responses. Build a bank of, say, one hundred responses per NPC Role/Gender/Night City area and distribute.

I wish we could vote on some of these, so many have already been said. From a gameplay perspective, more Bethesda than Bioware, please. Jumping, climbing, exploring hard to reach areas; being able to see the city skyline from the top of the tallest tower, this will make a truly epic playable 'sandbox'. Otherwise it will just feel like a rail shooter with a storyline appended.

Hard to code, I know, but some dynamics to the environment, exploding cars, storefronts, friendly fire (and consequences).

Hard choices in the story, with very grey morality. I would prefer not to be the 'chosen one' and would rather have to fight/steal/cheat for what I want or need in the game. As with above, dynamic effects on the game world. NPC's than can die (and thus screw youlater in the game, for example).

Love interests, casual or otherwise. Maybe both.

Absolutely community modding support. I trust your team to make an awesome game, but I know a good community can make epic mods. I am eager to see what the fans have to say (and do) once you are done with it.

I would hate to see this go MMO. That said, local or limited multiplayer (like Torchlight II for example) might be good. A lot of SP RPG's can get a little lonely after a while.

Too many to list, really. I have great faith in you!

I would say, more Bethedsa than Bioware, unless we're talking about story/cutscenes..then more Bioware..or rather CD Projeckt (though I haven't played any Witcher games I assume they're pretty good at this stuff from what I've seen.

Yeah, it is a pretty big deal to be able to explore many areas, and to not feel constricted. Especially because it's a city setting there needs to be vertical exploration..ladders, rooftops, the whole 9 yards. The rule should be, if you can see it and you can see a way to access it, you should be able to go there. That's a huge part of open world immersion.

Now interiors would be an exception because obviously it's not worthwhile or possible to have interiors to every storefront...but if you can't go into a place there should still always be something to see and do there..like monitors to view/ads/things to read, maybe intercoms to interact with. Make it feel alive with sounds, sights, movement.

I really want to see a ton of dialogue in this one....it's probably the easiest thing to add to a game that adds to it's depth...just a matter of recording the audio for it. Not just good for NPCs but for things to interact with....like in interfacing with a console or pressing a doorbell, or whatever they use in 2077. Dialogue/audio fills in the void where maybe there's not something specific to do, providing a means to paint atmosphere/backstory and prevent immersion-breaking situations for the player.

I see a lot of people posting stuff about cyberpunk soundtracks and styles and can't help but wonder to myself why the future is so electronic. Human nature seems to revolve around lusting for the past and recapturing versions of ourselves just barely out of reach, so acoustic music would strike me as being unexpectedly present, if not popular. I'd like to see some acoustic tracks in the soundtrack—classical guitar, maybe a solo violin/saxophone like in Arcanum/Cowboy Bebop. Not the whole thing, obviously, but it'd be a nice bit of contrast and make for a subtle "human" anchor, especially when dealing with more and more technology.

I guess we will be seeing first how good those two upcoming sci fi games. the "watch dogs" and "remember me". With that in mind, its pretty much assured that hacking is an integral part of this game. so I wanna see some new ways of doing it. Maybe planting a virus to a certain establishment around the city, causing blackouts...

Make it Dark, Sci-fi (real _science_ fiction, less nonsense, more logic), Mature (not stupid, with the consequences of our actions, sometimes causing death of MC) and Sexy (like in W2 or even slightly more, give us some sex, not just 'there is naked leg on the screen111 OMFG'). Maybe 2 editions: ESRB 12+ (ME style of censorship) and 18+/21+ one (fully uncensored, with extended EULA).
Make The Game Universe. Want to feel it like Gibson's cyberpunk novels. Like Bladerunner movie.

Best hopes. With love from W2|sci-fi fan)

Ooh! Maybe there could be a mini-game where you were the one installing implants into another person. Perhaps it could be a way to make money in the game.

- I would like to be able to develop some degree of relationship with people. Not talking about romance, but something similar to the friends Geralt has in TW series. Some people you might know with extended dialogue options, be it for quest or just interesting talk.

- 'Optional' coop multiplayer. Contact other players in specific areas to perform certain quests together.

- Needless to say, AI is fundamental. Combat is more enjoyable when it doesn't have to rely on attribute buffs for the enemies or on higher number of opponents. Flanking, secondary attacks and using the environments present a greater challenge than simply the enemy's gun now does 3x the damage.

- The right ammount of gritty and gore. Some games are so bloody they even look ridiculous. The same is valid for the ammount of light. There are dark corners in the city, but there are the bright rich places. I want to see variability in the setting. I want to see the suffering side and the rich people side. Somebody has money and they don't spend 24hours a day inside an office building.

- Bribe has to be more than an option in the dialogue. I want to find who to find and maybe what do they want. The same for sabotage maybe. I mean, those things have to be part of the core gameplay experience, not mini-games.

- Speaking of mini-games, they really are essential to relax a little bit :)

- Vehicle combat, maybe? I'm not even sure about this one. The game, without it, is a huge task already. To have something like this, but that feels shallow is really bad. But building a vehicle and having fun things to do with it is almost a game in itself. Another possibilities are races, or reaching specific places. Anyway, it would be disapointing to have a nice chunk of the game about building a vehicle and nothing meaningful to do with it.

- Day one support for mods.

- Separate PC and Console development teams for some stuff. I really don't want to struggle with UI just so it is supported everywhere. It has to be good everywhere, even if it means being somewhat different. I'm quite sure other parts of the game could equally benefit from this (graphics come to mind, tehre might be some others)

- The least ammount possible of QTE.

- character customization to include height and body type (maybe even with some gameplay impact, e.g. it's harder to push a fat tall guy back, but he is slower). Also, if there are beards, make'em beards (I hate when it's only a dark shade on teh face). Unique creation traits are nice also (small bonuses or something similar).

- Custom built gear with some stat variability based on skill and some luck. Also, to an extent, the look of the gear I'm creating.

- A good quest tracking system, showing who gave me the quest, a short description and the extended one (maybe the dialogue lines, or key dialogue lines).

- Optional tutorial. I like to do some test runs with different characters and it is a drag to go through the tutorial everytime.

- Destructible environment. It's fun!

Guess that's what I can think of right now...

There should be different social factors for everything you can carry with you.
For example a handmaid gun with diamonds on it will bring you a bonus in the upper class, but not on the street because you are a snob.
Casual clothing gives you a bonus on common NPC (like the woman with the child on her arms) but a malus in the upper class.
Open carrying of a weapon will force the police to investigate but gives you some respect of the streetgangs.

Skilldevelopment:
I don’t like it when you can make just sidequest for leveling and after it being overpowered for the Endboss.
So just basic Skilldevelopment. The most of your boni should come via Cyberware. But here should be the disadvantage, the risk of becoming the cyberpsycho, or just nobody will offer you small sidequest because you are to scarry for them.
